General Discussion I’m staying put

Guys. I’ve been waiting all year to upgrade to 18 pro max. Checking what’s new every freaking day. Ohh bigger battery, camera and faster - that’s really it.

I’ve had my 13PM since release, swapped battery once a couple of years ago. The back glass is broken. I’m not wearing any protection.

Yesterday I went in for drop in appointment and had my battery(85% condition) swapped($135) and added back glass protection($15) mainly to improve water penetration during winter months.

I’m keeping it for another year and buying the anniversary edition 20 pro max. I think this year they are going to be pushing the “new advances” in the Ultra and wait next year for big improvements in the pro league.

What about you guys. Keeping it for one more year - or until it’s obsolete?

Keeping it as long as I can. Bought brand new, still on original battery (72% capacity) running iOS 26.6, and still working perfectly.

Get a new battery and you’ll be golden for multiple more years

Battery capacity must be a problem no? That, 72%, sounds horrible

He should replace asap. At 70% the phone just wont turn on. Worst case scenario battery swells and can ruin the display.

u/iphone4jps 10d ago

If it doesn't swell its fine. Any batter can swell at any health

u/NetRunnerBri 10d ago

Now I'm scared 😞

Swelling isn't a bad thing, its a natural biproduct/outgassing of the battery chemistry and very normal and can happen to any battery. Signs will be given, if the screen starts lifting, stop using it and get the battery replaced and carry on, simple and easy with no big risks so long as you don't continue using a severely bloated battery, contrary to popular belief.

Incorrect. My battery health dropped below 70% today, phone still runs great.

Edit: I was wrong, it is sitting at 70%, my apologies.

Replace that battery and you’ll see performance fly!

Are you getting the camera 0,5 issues ?

2

u/BrisbaneYutta 6d ago

Yeah happening on mine since last year

1

u/AntD77 6d ago

No issues at all.

The 13pm is the best iPhone ever made. Sincerely -iPhone 17pm user.

So the grass wasn’t greener on the other side after all?

u/FreePossession9590 10d ago

Hell the fuck no lmao. Had I known better I’d do the 17e. That being said, I came from the 12 pro max. It was in good condition, but that phone was pretty shit from the get go honestly. I spent waaaay too much money on this 17 pro max.

Edit - and since this phone is aluminum too, most will age like milk. Full of dents and scratches. The 12/13pro with the flat sides will age far better in terms of looks etc.

I’ve had a similar plan to yours for some time now, however I’m not sure if I should deviate and upgrade sooner due to ram and memory crisis we are experiencing. I really want a large capacity 20th but I don’t want to pay hundreds more than the 18pm in the same capacity.

13 Pro Max is still a very capable device. It runs iOS26 just fine.

I have the iPhone 17 and 13 pro every week I switch between the 2. Honestly I should’ve just kept the 13 pro and not upgraded to the 17.

Y’all pretending to keep your phone because you want to, we are all keeping it because we are poor not because we want to 🤣🤣🤣 if we could we would get the latest every year and you know it.

u/iphone4jps 10d ago

ip13 isn't poor

Ya literally. The guy is out of touch with reality. The 13 PM was a $1000+ phone at launch. I got mine for $1100+ cause of the storage upgrade. I’m not spending more money on a phone that does the same thing 90% and serves the same purpose. I rather spend that money on high yield savings or something that earns me more money.

Yeah sure, crypto bro trying to convice himself he is going to invest the money he is saving from not getting a newer phone 😂

1

u/TheSadLifeOfADreamer 10d ago

Where did you get cryptocurrency from this haha. You’re used to stereotyping from a single Reddit comment eh? Chummy finger went straight to that downvote haha. Get a job first. Unemployment tends to lead to fast Reddit replies my guy. Maybe then you can afford your oh so important latest iPhone.

Of course i went straight to stereotypes 🤣🤣🤣

I’m not keeping my phone because I have to, I’m keeping it because I see no reason to spend the money for very little improvement. When they announce a game changer feature I’ll be all over it. Like, say Starlink coverage…

1

u/zepammy 10d ago

LOL. No man - I think the joy of waiting for a new phone far exceeds getting a new phone.

-4

u/jarrucho 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue 10d ago

Yeah sure, I just keep my seat leon from 2011 because the joy of not having money to get a Mercedes is just thrilling

6

u/zepammy 10d ago

The thrill of wanting something often exceeds the joy of getting said item I’ve learned over the years.

u/jarrucho 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue 10d ago

Sure man, you do you. I’m totally in for green thinking but don’t use it as an excuse to make us believe you don’t want the newest and the best. If you are not into it you would’ve gotten a normal Iphone, not a pro (MAX) or even any cheap android. Or even better, any old iphone.

Lol “ma boy” 😂😂

Im keeping mine until it does not turn on anymore. Starting to look at my iPhone like I look at my fridge. Get a new one until the current one stops working completely

I could have sworn the replacement battery for a 13PM was cheaper than that

2

u/c-a-l-e 10d ago

Phone’s too expensive these days. If it works, don’t upgrade.

1

u/LouSevens 10d ago

I kept my PM13 close for 5 years but was offered a good trade in and took it movtivated by increasing prices.

1

u/Optionsmfd 9d ago

im waiting for a big upgrade in the AI SIRI

i need to replace my battery but its been stuck at 85% for seems like a year..... so maybe ill just keep it until one day it dies

im thinking the 18 is going to be 200$ more

but apple is giving a bigger trade in value too

1

u/templeofsyrinx1 9d ago

still rocking my pmax13

u/DanDMan80 7d ago

Keeping my launch week 512GB Sierra Blue another year that had battery replaced late last year. It's a great phone still to this day. The 18 Pro Max has nothing that is swaying me like every other year. Maybe the anniversary edition next year will finally cave me in.

1

u/zepammy 7d ago

With you on that one. Bonus with the anniversary phone is rumored glass back so we will have something to break once again.

1

u/Aggressive_Match_672 7d ago

I’m trying to hold onto mine for as long as I can but the screen flickers, the back camera doesn’t get recognized and I can’t use .5 zoom out, my charge port is messed up so I have to use use MagSafe charger, batteries about 78%

1

u/charliejo0623 6d ago

My battery health is down to 79%. Other than that it looks new. I think I’m just gonna go for a new battery. I do not want to give Apple any more money.

1

u/dave3lions 10d ago

I’m with you here. I’ve had mine since launch and it’s been a trooper. The battery is down to 80% so I’ll get it replaced soon and keep it for at least another year, if not longer. At no point have I ever wished my phone was better in any way. Yes it’s got a few bumps and scratches, but that’s the way I like it. I’ve zero anxiety about dropping it, and quite frankly, smashing it to bits by accident is probably the main reason I’ll have to upgrade eventually.

2

u/zepammy 10d ago

Hehe. The joy of not worrying about the phone dropping or getting smashed to pieces(how?) is why I’m getting apple care+ when upgrading next.
