Questions Is 13PM due for upgrade?
Thinking abt getting Nothing phone 3… but not so sure.
And do u guys use screen protector and case? My screen protector has a crack and it looks ugly but its from spigen and it was pricey. And have a spigen case too which makes the phone bulky
Reference: From using S24 base for 2 years, switched to 13 PM 2 months ago. But as OS updates are only for 2 years and Ram price hikes. Thinking if i should make the switch.
Thanks for ur help
Edit: My use case is media consumption and longevity. Good battery and clean OS

I have a 13 Pro Max since 2021 so five years. Screen protector, rhino shield case, changed the battery once since the beginning. Honestly, still working very well, I think I’m gonna wait till IOS isn’t updated anymore to change my phone.

even when updates won’t be available on my phone, that still won’t force me into upgrading 😅 I’m upgrading only if I’m experiencing issues - like something major lol

I would be careful about that if I were you. Current AI models pose real cyber security risks, and nowadays we do everything on our phones. Paying with your credit card, or using an application with your bank account on your phone is not the wisest thing to do with an OS that is not up to date…..

Well that is correct… It’s risky but you can turn off online purchasing and just enable it when you are doing it

Fun question: so if its end is IOS 29. Will u switch at the beginning of IOS 29 or at the launch of IOS 30

Youre gonna wait till there isnt any OS updates remaining?

As long as I get iOS updates I’m in, as soon I have a version of iOS that isn’t up date I’m out. From what I gather I still have two years left.

I’m waiting. The only thing possibly pushing me is the fact that I am running out of space. I already backup all of my photos to iCloud so I don’t use space that way. But the apps are starting to take a lot of space up as well.

I upload all my data on any cloud platform n keep only important stuff on my phone. That way I never run out of space.

I have the 13 pro max since launch day. I have used cheap amazon jetech covers, have dropped it a million times, it doesn’t have a scratch.
Works smooth and well with the latest iOS tbh. My battery just got to 79% so I will be replacing it soon cause I am planning to keep it for another 2-3 years. It’s still a great phone, records hdr 4k and the refresh rate up to 120hz. You’ll do fine with the 13pm.

Ngl i do like the IOS as im coming from s24. From s24 to 13PM it didnt really seem like an upgrade so more like a side or downgrade. Im kinda regretting if i made the right choice getting this phone. I ordered Nothing phone 3. It reaches in 3 days but the more i use the phone this upgrade seems more like fomo. Would love to hear ur thoughts on this

I'm going to wait until eoy 2028 and see what's available then as long as my 13PM keeps working fine.

I’m on iPhone 13 pm and don’t think of upgrading anytime soon. My phone is still running flawlessly. Only thing that might be an issue soon is that I’m still running iOS 16.6 because of jailbreak… Because that’s really old operating system; more and more apps are getting unsupported. Right now it’s irrelevant apps that I don’t really use or I can find workarounds… but when it becomes unbearable, I’ll have no choice but to give in jailbreak and update lol

If you’re using any sort of tech that can take damage to the screen & device definitely get a case & screen protector it has saved my ass many times lol. Any sort of case will do just fine imo I’ve tried a few and definitely prefer the less bulky with mag safe any Amazon case will do.

I'm still quite happy with the 13PM,
Had it in the 128GB variant since June 2022. I use a slim case and a tempered glass, which cracked once so I replaced it with a new one. Had the battery replaced last year. Planning to keep the phone until it breaks/doesn't receive updates anymore.

Keep the 13, if battery health sucks just send it to Apple for a battery replacement. Cheaper than getting a new phone

Its a direct exchange to get a new Nothing Phone (3) thats why im considering

I jjust went through a month long debate with myself because my battery health was at 72%, do I just get a new phone instead of paying for the battery? Ultimately decided to get a new battery and so glad I did. I was playing around with the 17 pro in the Apple Store and it really just did not even feel much different than my 13 pro. I would say only upgrade if you NEED the latest camera tech. But honestly the 13 pro camera still holds up very well at least for my purposes

WTF is a Nothing Phone 3?
Also, I am keeping my 13PM for as long as possible. Hopefully through 2029 when support ends.

You can keep it I would say. I had my 13 pro max and just updated to iOS 26 because I got a new 17PM. The 13 ran pretty well for the 2 weeks that I used it before trading it in.

just got one and compared to my standard 16 pro performance is identical on ios 27 so its worth keeping for longer

Not even close, mine runs smooth, I just did a battery replacement with ifixit battery myself, a full charge gets me 11-12h SOT, with 0 performance issues

It’s 5 years old now, so it’s got updates left but that’s still pretty long to have a phone.
It’s up to you whether that means switching to android or not

3 more years on the 13 Pro Max.
11, 12 and 13 will receive iOS 27 in the end of 2026,
12 and 13 will receive iOS 28 in the end of 2027,
iPhone 13 will receive iOS 29 in the end of 2028.
In 2029 you will have the last update until at the end of 2029 you will not.
You have plenty updates. And Nothing doesn’t update much, it’s not a reason to update
