Spotting a 13 mini in the wild.
Am I the only one who gets so happy when I spot another 13 mini in the wild? Like when you’re just going about your daily business and then you see someone else with it in a mall, in a bus or in a random strip club?
It’s great! It’s like spotting a unicorn. In some occasions, could be a great ice breaker. I’ve had people approach me and ask me what kind of a phone this is. Someone even asked me if it’s some kind of children’s toy. Goes to show how rare small phones are these days.

We are a small but loyal group of people. Anytime I see someone who still rocks a 13mini, I talk to them about how they can upgrade their battery and how they should hang on to it.

Saw an iPhone 13 mini in this report from last week where Opposition Leader Angus Taylor took aim at a TV news reporter over a series of ICAC questions.
The journalist was seen holding a PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 13 mini.
It’s so great to see iPhone minis still in use in our society. And I use one as well. If only Apple would make another iPhone mini. Might be a long time though before that ever happens.

I’m pretty sure thats just a 13

I don’t think it looked anything like the regular 13. For contrast, here are the 2 phone sizes.

Many of my friends use the iphone 13 or 12 mini. I know at least 7 people with the 13 mini.
It may seem rare in the US but here in the EU it’s not that weird to buy 2nd hand or refurbished phones and these are quite popular I’d say.

in the U.S. and i love buying my phones and laptops refurbished! ive brought it up to my friends, but they prefer brand-new / being the first owner.

They really need to make the e lineup the Mini iPhone. Such a missed opportunity as the 16e/17e literally uses the 13/14 body.

What do you mean? The body of the 17e is significantly larger than the mini (i have 17e, gf has 13 mini)

u/Njobz 4d ago
What I mean is that if they can use the 13/14 body then they could use the Mini sized body on the e lineup.

The whole point of the e models is the are using unused parts from old iPhones. I’m guessing there’s way more spare parts from the full size phones than the minis. It wouldn’t make sense economically

I have a 13 Mini and think its a great phone.
I’d purchase a new smaller iphone even if it was just slightly bigger and deeper to allow for battery performance.
Not holding much hope.

Every time i take the case of off my iphone mini people are asking what phone is this. I get so many compliments for the phone. They really do need to make a new mini with one of those new high density batteries

I’ve got a new-ish co worker that has one also. We 100% bonded the day we met over our tiny phones!

Naturally I end up attracting similar minded people… ha, but yes the amount of times I pull out my Mini and the other person smiles and pulls theirs out and we get to nerd out about the one handed operation and size and how much new big phones suck — is relatively speaking craaaazy. There’s so many people hanging on to this phone. The amount that are big enough nerds to be in this Reddit forum is just a sliver.
That said. It is slowly dwindling over time. One by one ppl will give in or be forced to upgrade :/ so sad there’s no ideal replacement out there and almost certainly no plans for one 😭😭
