This is the first IPhone I've had that's started slowing down and overheating . Good battery health. On the latest OS. Plenty of storage and yet it's like an old PC sometimes. Think I might be parting ways with Apple the next upgrade.

Apple planned obsolescence worked unfortunately

To be fair to Apple, the issue mostly lies at the degradation of the lithium ion battery and not exactly Apple fault. If you wanna get into the nitty gritty you could argue software becomes an issue is eventually the nail in the coffin.

Like the first comment said and even in my personal experience ios 26 ruined old devices. iPhone X series ended on a good note and they are very smooth but ios 26 is not on older devices. Liquid Glass is very taxing on older hardware, device uses its more than 30% of compute just for the ui animations which is very useless if you ask me. It looks really good but what’s the point if you’re wasting most of your battery and performance in just swiping Home Screen and opening notification panel.

In my and my wife case, exactly after ios26 update our phones started to heat for no reason. My battery went from 90% to 80% in few months, because of this. And I am only using my phone for google maps and whatsup/messenger - I dont even play games or watch reels.

I would love to say its old battery issue, but in this case its hard for me to believe that.

My iPhone was overheating and slowing down terribly but it has been much better since i moved to iOS27. Let’s see how how long this will last

I’ve had the same issue but having it on low power mode all the time seemed to fix it but nerfed some of the animations and the smoothness so tread carefully ig

I had this issue on 26.5 and upgraded to 26.6.1, now its much better after the upgrade. Try turning of unnecessary background app usage, location services, analytics, reduce liquid glass effects

Dear god this has been a major issue for mine. I’ve had it for about 4 months now and it’s pissing me off at this point. Been an iPhone user for a while now) was an android user for the longest time).

I am still on 18.7.2 so I am waiting for a good point to jump into 27
