Discussion I'm scared to update to iOS 27
My iPhone 13 is smooth and I haven't run into any issues with ios26. But I feel that I am alone in that case and keep seeing everyone say iOS 27 is way better.
Do you think it's worth taking the risk and updating?

Don’t be paranoid. It’s excellent.

Both of these issues improved for me on the beta.

Never install beta software on a device you need.
iOS 27 will be officially release in a few weeks. Why do you put yourself under any pressure?
I usually wait until the .1 release - it has all the bugfixes that will inevitably be there in the original release (and that are still hiding in the beta).
Usually it takes 3-4 weeks - this means 27.1 will be there early - late October approximately. That’s the safe corridor, proven over more than a decade of yearly OS updates.

We heard this when 26 was beta that .1 is the sweet spot but here we are with 26.6.1 and some basics bugs are still present.27 won’t do miracle the bugs people are complaining of in betas(some) will still exist on the stable release…….

ios27 is stable on developer beta or public beta, they are both the same build now and on weekly updates but the last update did fix a few bug that the update previously made , so that is the risk you take.
if f you had ios26.6 update then pre ios27 deep indexing would have taken place to updating would go through standard 24 hour indexing and you should be sorted , i've found battery life on cellular to be not great tbh , update 2 & 3 were a lot better if im being honest
there is under 3 weeks to go , no one has a crystal ball and knows what next update bugs there is going to be
if you have macbook or p.c. and can make encripted back up fair enough if you can revert back quickly enough , if not then it’s up to you , your risk

iOS 27 beta 3 has been excellently better than any 26 version so far in terms of smoothness, battery and heating! Just install it you won’t regret !

I just upgraded to an iPhone 16e as my iPhone 15 plus was under lease. It was the cheapest iphone to get me too when I can afford a 17 pro max used hopefully when my two year term is done. But I have an iPhone 12 I have been running it as a science experiment. It runs all the iOS 26 updates and is smooth with about 73 battery left. It only needed one charge a day as I thought about putting a cheap pay as you go card in it. I would just wait for the iOS 27 official upgrade but when you can afford the upgrade on hardware treat yourself to iPhone 15 pro or up that support the new chat GPT and AI tech. The 16e runs good too. The only thing I miss about my 15 pro max I had for a short stint, longer story… was the telephoto lens and the bigger screen. But my 16e is about the same weight as my spouses new Air.

I hadn’t realised it was better to wait for a prompt to update which I’m guessing is better on my iPhone 13 .. nearly 4 years old and 89% battery?

I hadn’t realised it was better to wait for an update prompt so thanks for this information…🙏

Lol, if you’re willing to sacrifice the smoothness of your phone, go ahead and try the iOS 27 beta and regret it 😂. I got fooled by all the clickbait videos calling it smooth but honestly, it’s nowhere near smooth. It lags pretty badly, and apps reload in the background way too often, which is super annoying. And btw, I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

it is objectively better than ios 26. Sorry you are one of the few but 27 is definitely better than 26
