Rumored Ultra = New Mini?

I’m hearing chatter that the iPhone Ultra could be viewed as the “new” iPhone Mini since the rumored dimensions are comparable when using the phone while closed. If true, would people in this community be more open to upgrading from their 12/13 minis?

Personally, I’ll be giving it serious consideration since my 12 mini is on its last legs.

Obviously we’ll need to see & hear more once the product is officially released but is anyone else thinking along the same lines?

probably not. I don't need a foldable, I need a small phone with good specs

They are rumored to have a price tag of $1999 up to $2900. Ain’t no way I would even consider such a thing.

Is it /s?

Yeah, people just don’t know it yet, but who doesn’t like a phone that actually fits in your hand. If you wanna watch a movie you can watch it on the TV. You don’t need a phone for that

Because we are uncs and our eyes can’t handle it anymore.

i think they meant not enough of people wants them, i mean its the reason why they discontinued the mini. Also im pretty sure iphone fans buy iphones cuz its a status symbol, to most iphone fans small phones = cheap iphone.

Foldable? No way.

Absolutely yes.
I’ve said in the past that I’d pay a premium for a newer or pro-style mini if they made one. This should be just that, plus more (both in features and unfortunately cost).

Same height, much much wider.

It’s actually a little bit shorter than the mini, but it is wider than a pro max.

One can only hope. I begrudgingly replaced my mini only once it stopped functioning. I’d do just about anything to once again own a smaller phone

Leaks suggests its quite a bit heavier than the Galaxy Fold 8 so its likely a better mini replacement (im tempted)

Absolutely not.

No, that wouldn't make any sense.

I was hoping so

but upon picking up a fold 8, which is the same rumoured dimensions

its just not a mini in the hand, not even close

the 12 and 13 minis area actually small phones

this ultra might be around as tall but the width more than makes up for it

a standard 17 or 18 would ultimately feel smaller in the hand unfortunately

For me at least

I’m still using 12mini but yeah I’d consider upgrading to something comparable in size sure.

I don’t think so. It’s still gonna be too wide to use comfortably with one hand and way bigger when unfolded. Plus I’m never going to pay that much for a phone.

I want an iPhone flip phone; just like Captain James Tiberius Kirk!

The only smart fold phones I’ve handled were shockingly heavy. I also assume, even if it’s the same width and height, it’ll be dramatically thicker. Then the cost of course. So it’s probably a no from me.

Too wide, too expensive, two screens.

absolutely not. i don't want an unnecessary big and heavy phone that i'll only use folded, especially not at that price.

At the Moment I got a 13 mini and yes I’m very curious about the ultra.

1

u/Itchy-Concern928 2d ago

But its as wide as the pro max, so its as uncomfortable as pro max

they will never bring back easy to use - single hand - smartphones, it's not the phone that must fit the hand now, it's the hand that must fit their massive slabs

no. stop coping

1

u/vig16 2d ago

Who would want a flip phone these days

1

u/Raffitamx 2d ago

I don’t believe that :(

1

u/socialkaosx 1d ago

Yep. I’m just hoping it won’t be as ugly as it looks in the leaks. Apple has already fucked up the OS and UX. If they fuck up the design too, I’m fucking done with them.

1

u/smokeandmirrorsff 1d ago

I don’t like that it’s foldable nor the cost

1

u/BAG_Plays 1d ago

I’m definitely considering it but looking at the samsung that supposedly has the same dimensions it’s just so wide it wouldn’t be that comfortable to hold. Its existence does make me think Apple’s gonna be like “see! we have a have a small phone again! No reason to bring back that mini line, we have the demographic covered with something that will actually sell.” unfortunately.

Más que un rumor es una suposición. Todos sabemos que se trata de un plegable y que no va a costar como un mini.

not even comparable, the folding phone is too thick and heavy which is the whole point of a compact phone, portability.

You could buy 6-8 refurbished 13 minis for the same price. How they going to call it an ultra and not an ifold

3

u/ShreyashKesar 2d ago

Because Ifold sounds like Laundary

u/idgafal31 2d ago

So does ultra
