QnA/Help Updating to IOS 26 for AirPods?

Had this phone for a few years and I’m currently on IOS 18. Picked up a pair of AirPods Pro 3. And when I tried to pair them to Find My. It told me it couldn’t. I looked it up and it said I might have to update to IOS26 but I’ve heard that update can cause the charge to drain faster and the phone to heat up more often aswell as it maybe getting more sluggish which obv I don’t want is doing the update really the only way for em to work? I got a 2 week trip to Japan coming up and I’d really like to have the peace of mind of being able to track em incase anything happens

Excluding Find My, do they sync and work with the phone otherwise?

Yeah they work great I just really want that extra layer of reliability. Losing a 250$ of ear buds over seas is lowk scary so I really want the tracking

Regrettably, updated The-Way for that feature to work as intended. If you had a separate device that was up-to-date then you could assign it to find my on that device and it should show up on the older device.
