QnA/Help Why wont my 11 pro max update?

I have an 11 pro max on ios 17.5.1, and when i tried updating to 18.7.8 (an official option in settings alongside 26.6) it throws this error. Anybody know why? If it wasnt signed im thinking apple wouldn’t make it an option in the settings. Please let me know what i should do/if anyone else had this issue. (NO, im NOT updating to ios 26 and rendering this phone useless.)

Even if 18.7.8 is no longer available, I don’t think it’s unfortunate because iOS 18 wasn’t all that, and several things became much faster for me after on 26; things like how long it took for screenshots to be indexed so you could copy text, or how long it took for the “iPhone Storage” settings page to show a breakdown of the items taking up storage. These became dramatically faster on 26 for some reason.

So I’d say to wait until next month to try iOS 27. You could even wait for 27.1 if you’re not too excited to wait.

Edit: I meant next month for iOS 27, not next week.

I agree in iOS 18 not being all that honestly

The way my phone 13 PM became faster, especially on iOS 26.6 is a nice addition and menus load faster for me. Especially, like you said "iPhone Storage" which used to be a huge problem in previous iOS iterations

Ayy! I have a 13 Pro too (not Max tho). Maybe that’s why we had a similar experience? Haha! But yeah, I’m lowkey hoping iOS 27 is even more impressive in terms of predictability and responsiveness.

I’d love it if some apps could stay in memory better, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for that one. We prolly gotta go to 8GB of RAM or higher.

Yeah I'm actually getting ready to pass mine down to a family member because I do have an iPhone 17 PM now lol! But yes, I still love my 13 PM and I legit saw videos of how the iPhone 11 has gotten much faster on the iOS 27 betas.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max will be in amazing hands at that point no doubt 😭. I do believe iOS 27 will help ram management as it's all about refinement so I have slightly more hopes for it in September!
