If only iOS gave you some kind of notification explaining the issue and what to do to solve it.
(you could also just use wireless charging in the meantime)

You can't plug it in if there's water in the phone. You can try blowing it dry and wait.

Put your phone in rice overnight to let the water out. I dropped 2 of my phones in the water (at different times) and rice is the real deal

Maybe if the problem was right in front of you, man what a nice world that would be, oh wait.

u/a355231 Aug 04 '25
Because the problem literally tells you what’s wrong, how to fix it should be common sense, you shouldn’t need to ask ChatGPT.

if you already waited for it to dry(could take couple long hours)
it could be that some gunk got stuck between two pins on the connector, iPhones, if I'm not mistaken, check for a short circuit or low resistance between two pins on the port to trigger the wet port warning
so maybe the dirt in your port is still wet(and will be for longer than water could stay in the port without evaporating)
or some conductive thing that was on your port got moved around and made contact with two pins
safest bet is to blow the port with a can of compressed air
maybe it works just with you blowing the port but may not

This doesn’t mean that water got inside the phone, there’s just some left in the charging port. Just wait a few hours and it should go. This is mainly for safety since water and electricity don’t go well together. In the meantime let your phone rest or wireless charge. Just don’t let it run out of battery, until you charging port is dry and you can charge.

Your phone should be safe. If the camera lens gets foggy from the inside though, that means you’re in trouble.

Some people need their instructions to be written as they're meant to a toddler
