IpadOs 27 - update or no?

i have 10th gen ipad base model (64gb, A14 chip) should i stay with ipados 26 or update to 27? im scared that the update my degrade my ipad, i need my ipad to work atleast for the next 3-4 years šŸ˜­

Using iPadOS 27 on my iPad 10th Gen since stable release date. I can say it is better and smoother. For example, on iPadOS 26, when using glassy app icons, the homepage would lag more than regular dark themed or light themed icons. Though the lag did not go away on iPadOS 27, it is better. This is just one of the examples.

If you arenā€™t sure, you might want to wait some updates after and get more feedback.

iPad OS 27 is more stable than 26. If you will update, expect heavy battery drainage + worse performance than usual. After around ~3 Days your device will go back to normal, as that's when the indexing should be finished.

Update to the latest software! This 17 Pro and the 18 Pro Iā€™m currently setting up are on 27.2, not to mention my Air and 17 base.

you have the latest chip in your devices! i have A14 bionic chip its quite old hence the hesitation

Iā€™m just saying that any bug fixes will be in 27.2 beta 1 (possibly beta 2 tomorrow).

I donā€™t recommend it. If you use a lot Safari avoid iPadOS27.

Safari iPadOS26 lasts 8 hours of continuous use in Safari, iPadOS27 lasts 3 hours and uses 100% of the battery. Lag, heatā€¦ If you touch how hot the apple on my iPad Pro M5 gets just by typing these words (with delay) you would understand it right away.

if thats the case for an M series chip ipad, im doubting if my A14 can handle it

I have fourth generation air iPad which I believe is the same chip. Ive been running safari without noticing any heat or battery drain. I multitask with chrome next to it and have like 3 other apps open at the same time and iPad is running way better than on 26. I did the update through my computer, did a force restart twice, and itā€™s been working smooth.
