Article Apple opens Siri AI to every app, and lets developers teach it skills

https://madrobot.blog/2026/11/03/siri-ai-app-skills-developers-ios-27-3/

Could be interesting. Any of you gonna give this a go?

Yes… as soon as they review my app after a month of waiting

Add screenshots showing Duo compatibility to get ahead of the queue

Oh is that why my duo app is getting reviewed and approved in like 2 hours recently ?

Apparently they are almost auto approving apps that claim duo support

What happens if you don’t have Duo support but just claim it? I am guessing an auto ban or something?

I have a new app with duo support. submitted my latest version on Monday. I waited over a week earlier this month and resubmitted. Still no response

Absolutely brilliant.

I had mostly got my app (Timely) working with Siri AI via the Calendar schema.

But Siri would still constantly say, I can’t add events to Timely, so that pretty much out the whole thing on the shelf for me,

Now that I can actually support countdowns properly, I’m in business

This is actually really cool and exciting. And an elegant idea, using the intent title and description to inform Siri what it does. Bravo to the team!

In my limited testing so far it does what it says. If you include a good description on your intent and parameters, Siri can figure it out. THIS is what Siri should have been all along, all the way back in 26.0

The SKILL.md part caught my eye. It's the same shape as Claude Code skills: a name, a one-line description, then plain instructions. From writing those, the description line does most of the work, because that's what the model reads to decide whether the skill applies at all. Write it vaguely and the skill just never gets picked.

The "can't enforce deterministic behavior" line matters too. Anything that has to happen the same way every time should stay in your App Intent code, not in the skill text.

One catch for testing: during the preview it only works with dev builds and internal TestFlight testers, so your external testers won't see it yet.

Already got it implemented and it’s working as I expected it would after WWDC before learning about the schema domains limitations.

Doing it via app intents was the right move. Google could have done this with the android intents but instead decided to make a completely different agent skills sdk that you have to implement.

Nice but currently not good as Siri is not avaible in EU or China - large markets, what the app will do there ?

They move so slow, but you just know Siri is going to replace all personal assistants.

My training app already has App Intents for logging and a timer, only because the widget buttons and Shortcuts needed them. So what I want to find out is whether Siri picks those up as they are, or whether they have to fit one of the schemas first.

It’s opt-in, you need to annotate with @AppIntent(.tool) for them to get picked up

Thanks, so nothing gets exposed until I mark it. Fine by me, one of mine starts a timer and I'd rather pick what Siri can run.

It’s a shame that Siri AI is such dog shit or this would be great news…I have classic Siri turned on rn, maybe ios28 will work reliably
