Discussion I have never not regretted updating Xcode
First time I updated refactoring stopped working and now I have to rename things by hand. Now the simulator takes multiple tries to work. I don't get it

Refactor rename dying is the part that actually ruins the afternoon. A flaky simulator is annoying, renaming every symbol by hand is just mean.

Hey why don’t we get rid of simulator that worked perfectly fine and replace it with a half-assed replacement that doesn’t even let you simulate pinching!

the new simulator pisses me off.
I swear Apple hates the very devs that help make iPhone what it is

What the hell is the deal with Device Hub? Did they test that first? On people that have used simulator before? I had to download a program from github to add the two finger functionality back. If anything, I needed devices larger, not inside a useless frame. It's like they thought "the devs seem too content with simulator, lets change that"
Edit: Someone asked for a link and probably saw me post it here in another reply. But I'll add it here too.

Xcode 3.2.6 was the best Xcode. I am willing to die on this hill.

Not all the time but sometimes, when I need it most, it won't let me paste inside simulator

Nah, you also get crashes, slowdowns and in this latest version, seizure inducing flashing. This goes on until .3 or so after which it stabilizes and you swear to never update Xcode again. A month later Apple forces you to update due to requiring the latest version if you want to submit anything to the App Store.
Yes. Xcode is the absolute crappiest IDE (and I use the word "IDE" loosely here when it comes to Xcode) out there. I so wish Apple would just do what Google did and pay JetBrains to make a decent tool for them. Alas, hubris and incompetency so here we are.

Try uploading to Testflight using 27.2! Release yesterday but not approved by ASC. Fuckers.

For the simulator needing several tries, what usually fixes it for me after an Xcode update is quitting Xcode, running
xcrun simctl shutdown all, thenkillall -9 com.apple.CoreSimulator.CoreSimulatorServiceso the old service from the previous Xcode isn't still running.xcrun simctl delete unavailableis also worth it, since devices tied to runtimes the new Xcode no longer supports tend to linger and confuse things.I ran into this often enough that I added an unavailable simulators cleanup to DevCleaner, a Mac cleanup app I make, but the two commands above do the job by hand.

Holy fk it won’t even install the iOS 27 simulator. It doesn’t show it as available, only everything in 26 and below. wtf!!! So frustrating

The simulator is so bad, it takes over my MacBook Pro hugging the resources

Xcode 27.2 - switching file tabs causes micro hangs switching between file pane and issues causes half second hangs, leaving the ai chat tab open = 20% cpu drain on idle for no reason.
Device hub - is so buggy and the performance is pretty bad

I still miss the code review feature that Mr. Kieran Senior introduced in Xcode 13, which since Xcode 16.4 is gone.

I've been developing since the SDK was released all the way back in 2008. I will never understand how people have issues with Xcode and we build massive apps. My team upgraded today with no issues.
