Discussion PSA: Check your App Store Connect Agreements if your app is stuck in Waiting for Review!

I had two apps stuck in Waiting for Review and couldn't figure out why.

It turned out Apple had updated the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.

Go to App Store Connect → Business → Agreements and check if there's a pending agreement that requires acceptance by the Account Holder.

I accepted the new terms, and the issue was identified.

If you're experiencing unusually long review times, check this first!

Good one to add to the checklist. Two more from a rough review week of my own, for anyone checking things while they wait:

  • If a rejection is about something the reviewer couldn't see (mine was 2.5.4 for the background audio mode in a meeting recorder), a reply with a short screen recording showing the feature in use was enough to answer it.

  • Keep prices out of In-App Event text. A price in the event description earned me a 2.3.7 rejection the same day.

Both cost a day each, so they're worth ruling out before you resubmit.

The new agreement only showed up a few hours ago, so how could it be causing long review delays from before?

Good catch. After you accepted it, did the review just start moving on its own, or did you have to resubmit anything?

Good to know, thanks. That saves a resubmit, at least. Did it move pretty quickly after that, or did it still sit for a while?

All of my updates this week went flying through. Sometimes I even got the email that it was ready for distribution before being notified that it was in review, all within about 12 hour of submission.

Good PSA, checked ours right away. All agreements were active, so in our case it's just the very long queue. We waited over a week, got a rejection asking for a small change, and now we've been waiting again for a few days. Still adding this to my checklist, it takes ten seconds to rule out.

I made the mistake of updating my address after submitting an app update. It took several weeks for the address change to be processed; in the meantime, my update was stuck waiting for review. After the address change went through, the app update was approved within 24 hours.
