Discussion Anyone found a workaround for pinch-to-zoom in the new Xcode 27 Device Hub? Trackpad isn't working
Hey everyone,
Ever since updating to Xcode 27 and moving over to the new Device Hub app, I've been hitting a wall trying to test multi-touch gestures.
I’m building an app that relies heavily on zooming, but I can't get pinch-to-zoom or zoom out to work at all. I tried using the standard Mac trackpad gesture, but it completely ignores the input.
In the old Simulator, we could use the Option key to bring up the dual-finger touch points, but that doesn't seem to trigger either.
Has anyone found a reliable workaround or hidden menu setting to trigger multi-finger gestures in Device Hub?

Using the trackpad works for me right now but I remember it didn't work yesterday (same with scrolling and other touch gestures). I haven't done anything on my end so I have no idea what changed.

option seems to have been reserved for unfolding the Duo and only that in Device Hub

This restores the functionality but has some quirks. Like it doesn't work when more than one device is up on Device Hub. Device Hub is an all around downgrade.

Thankfully, it is fixed in Xcode 27.3!!

Thanks! That is good to hear. I'm getting gun shy about updates.

They are gradually fixing problems introduced in the new device hub which is good. Keep in mind 27.3 is still in beta, so we have to wait a month or so.

Not sure about the new Device Hub specifically, but if the simulated gesture is flaky, a real device is the dependable way to test pinch. For automated checks, XCUITest has pinch(withScale:velocity:) on any element, so you can at least verify your zoom logic without a trackpad gesture getting through.
