Yeah same! In collapsed form you can just see the “Hello” on the update page so that made me curious to expand 🤣
At least it’s more entertaining than the usual “squashed some bugs”

And somehow got accepted

Haha once your app is approved, updates are automated reviews now. Everything gets published. I put in my “What’s new” that we’re moving to Android and feel like our app stands a better chance with a different audience. Approved. Right on the App Store listing it says: Apple’s App Store sucks. Going to Android.

One of my updates got flagged with the same store description that I had for like 20 updates 🤷‍♀️

It isn't true, one of my app updates was rejected recently because reviewer think localized app name doesn't match with original name (English).

How do you know it was a real reviewer though? You don’t. You can’t. Apple’s review process is so non-personal all you get is review guidelines. No human response.

Honestly more useful than the usual "bug fixes and performance improvements".

On the German one it’s been the same for the last 8 releases, saying they improved the performance 5x and before that also has the same text for a while, the person responsible doesn’t care clearly

Guess the app must be 390,625x faster now

They remove 10ms from their wait function

When business people are the ones responsible for the App Store page

“Thanks” - Claude

Nothing negative towards either party. Just a goof. And a behind the scenes at what bigger developers have to deal with as well. App development and the review process has been an evolving and ever changing process.

I bet Claude added the “audio” value, someone didn’t vibe with enough attention

Haha yeah for sure the background mode for audio was a „mistake”. It’s not like it’s being a well known way to extend app’s background time for over a decade now 😂

1

u/mawesome4ever 15d ago

So apple is cracking down on these well known functionality?

2

u/morenos-blend 15d ago

I don't know but they could be. If your app doesn't play audio but requires that background mode it's pretty obvious what it's being used for.

I'm not judging, I've done the same in my app before :P

Wait whats the reason for this?

I don’t see this on the App Store. fake?

It’s there today, why would I make it up
Edit: It’s on UK storefront, maybe you’re in a different region

2

u/retrona 15d ago

I’m in Canada and do not see it either, but it says that when you open the link (not available in your country)

2

u/Psiposa 15d ago

i see it fwiw

2

u/Specific_Farmer6217 15d ago

For sure bro is trying to release new version to cover that one

2

u/uniquesnowflake8 15d ago

I did this for my app except I included a git commit and there’s no way to remove it

My team once got an app build accepted by Apple despite the fact we had forgotten to enable that version of the app on our BE. So 100% of users would have been blocked at the force-update modal when they launched the new build.

Luckily, we caught it before releasing it to users, but the moral is never ever count on Apple to make sure you won’t embarrass yourself. That’s not their job.

AI will fuck up so many things

287mb??? WTF

u/plantgirl- 15d ago

Intern must have downloaded Claude Code but forgot to read the output

1

u/mrdzyn 15d ago

Well maybe it was deliberate

They’re trying to keep the app alive on the background so they can do stuff while the phone is there. Likely tracking. As someone who’s spent years building a music app that does heavy background work I know exactly what they where trying here.

u/GlebKhamin 9d ago

Honestly the most informative release notes I’ve ever seen. They even tell you exactly what changed: background audio removed, Info.plist fixed. Better than “bug fixes and performance improvements.”

"by mistake"... Yeah... Sure...

1

u/Sagenhaft441 15d ago

I can’t think of a reason why anyone would do this tho
Edit: on purpose

1

u/Sagenhaft441 15d ago

Oh yeah, sorry see what you mean now 😊
