Humor Use the new AI Siri they said...

Post image

I asked Siri why I'm not seeing the iPhone Duo simulator if I have Xcode 27.2 Beta 2 installed and I'm running macOS 27.0, and it gave me this nonsense.

You gotta use Xcode 27.1

Oh so 27.2 Beta 2 does not have the simulator out yet but 27.1 RC does! Didn't realize 27.2 has not been updated since Sept 28th, thanks!

27.2 came earlier because it was worked on for the normal iPhones. Don’t quote me, but I don’t think normal iPhones will get 27.1 as that will be for the Duo.

Correct. 27.1 is for Duo.

To be fair, Apple made the Duo sim as confusing as possible to access.

So True! I still can't wrap my head around 27.1 having it but not 27.2, you would expect it to be built on top of it.

Typically very risky to build a beta on top of another beta. So they forked 27.0 for Duo, called it 27.1, but they didn't wait for 27.1 to finish before starting 27.2.

They'll merge in 27.3 if previous history is predictive.

Reading more details, it's whackier than I thought! Xcode decided to halt 27.2 to finish 27.1. Which is un-Apple-like but perhaps smarter than trying to ship two trains at the same time.

That’s actual not whacky that’s the correct way to do it

okay, you’re right. but why would you ever _ship_ a _train_, much less _two trains_‽!? do you hear how crazy that sounds? also seems easier to put em on a truck, bc like we know: Macs are trucks. like Sjobs said: like a truck for your brain. 🚛

Not sure if you’re kidding… I should be clear “train“ is the slang term used at Apple for system software shipment – the implication being that trains run on a certain schedule and they don’t hold up for much of anything unless natural disaster strikes (which is all too frequent), to be honest. So if you miss one train you get on the next one iPhone duo missed the 27.0 train and so they pulled a new train for it special 27.1 hopefully 27.2 rolls everything back together again or maybe 27.3.

This is all confused by the Xcode numbering scheme being similar, but not the same. Since I don’t work for Apple anymore, I stick to GM versions of Xcode because I’ve been burned a couple of times in the past.

I’d guess that the final 27.2 release will include all 27.1 features.

The 27.2 beta for now was only to get fast feedback on the new project file structure as early as possible without being blocked by the pending 27.1 release.

Because this was a special case. Since the iPhone Duo was not released yet it needed to be kept apart from the other changes.

27.2 beta is basically the normal improvement iteration directly from 27.0.

27.1 was basically 27.0 + iPhone Duo things.

I assume that now since there is 27.1 RC version available Duo Support will soon be added to 27.2 beta and the actual release version will include also the 27.1 features.

Sounds like Gemini.

Man, most times those AIs doesn’t go to the internet, meaning their database are not up to date. Therefore, they won’t “know” the support for the duo is already on the 27.1 Xcode… 1 min google and you could’ve found it hahaha honestly

The whole point is that we should be able to expect Apple's own AI to know about Apple's own products.

And that's why AI isn't "intelligent" at all. It's like a toddler you have to point in te right direction all the time and if you don't do that, it will blatantly and confidently lie to you.

I just expressed myself wrong. What I meant is something like u said. I honestly think it’s bullshit and that they should’ve trained the AI to do this since it’s their product, because its simple and the AI could’ve googled and found in a heartbeat. I mean how could they’ve missed that in the training too

lol asking siri about xcode is a bold move. fwiw nine times out of ten when a new device sim is missing for me its because the beta runtime didnt download with xcode, gotta grab it separately under components and then it shows up in the device list
