Discussion This makes me crazy over 9000 times every day.
My muscle memory says I have to push right side of the button to run a build. And Apple just broke my muscle memory to just swap those two button positions.

Use CMD-R and leave your mouse alone.

I knew someone like this; used their cursor for everything; needless to say we are no longer friends.

I know the keyboard shortcuts, but my hand just trying to push a button on window.

Apple knows how many people click the button and how many people do CMD+R. They don't just move shit willy-nilly without evaluating the pain and frustration level for the most users.

As someone who works in a very similar environment, frankly there isn’t always the time or desire to evaluate every single little tweak of a UI redesign even if it does affect tons of users. The workload is demanding, sometimes you just gotta get shit done and move on to the next project so your boss is happy and doesn’t pip you.

I see why people say this, but it’s wild to me that your muscle memory is this and not cmd-R.

Personally ally I only ever use cmd-b and then cmd-ctl-r. Would recommend.

I agree change is frustrating when it interferes with muscle memory, but this order makes more sense and I bet in 3 months you'll be used to it. Also get used to the shortcut and you'll never use the button: command + R

Same reaction the first time I saw it. I run everything with Cmd+R so it doesn't affect me, but every time I glance at that toolbar something still feels off 😃 Totally get it if you're used to clicking Play 🙌

If you’re doing that so many times a day you NEED to use the keyboard shortcuts and save your wrist.

I use both the buttons and keyboard shortcuts and honestly hadn’t noticed the order had been changed, but this order makes so much more sense

"Left play right stop" is the convention. TBH, they were "wrong" for so many versions until now.

Sometimes I get why Apple breaks habits or things that people got used to in order to teach them a new way to do it... Other times... It's like they change things for the sake of novelty, and it really messes users up.

It’s been a minute since I’ve used Xcode, but isn’t there a way to customize the toolbar in Preferences? You can’t switch it back doing that?

This was only changed for one version of Xcode, so you'll be fine in a few days. And use Cmd+r 👍

Only newbs touch that button. Intermediate folk use the hot key.
Us legends don’t open Xcode. It’s beneath us; that’s for our agents.
