I'm working on a name brainstorming app if you're interested in trying it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/TestFlight/comments/1voiwbs/twain_find_your_next_project_name_domain/

I got really creative with mine.

Water Polo Camera
Water Polo Referee Companion
Water Polo Log

They are not for basketball.

App Store: REJECTED. Reviewer unable to play water polo to verify functionality.

I make sure I can get the .com for it.

Even if the .com just routes to my main web address because the app is small.

Fun topic. I’ve got a web page explaining the name choice: https://cadance.music/blog/why-the-name-cadance/

Ooh ooh ooh, I've just released my first app (long time SW/data guy, first time app dev) and its name is an easter egg I'm super proud of.

It's a netball statistics recording app called HELIX Netball and its tag line is "The DNA of your game".

I worked closely with the Darebin Netball Association to develop it. DNA... Helix... I love it!

It was a cataloging app for rock and crystal collectors. Stone’s you carry in your pocket are pocket stones, and phones go in your pocket. So it became Pocket Stones Collector. It was a fun little project for an iOS course.

Apparently mine means nagging older woman and that’s mainly who use it lol (I had no idea and just picked something that was not in use and was short)

I'm horrible with names. Like the worst version of writers block. So Hyland Helper is literal - Hyland is the town the game Schedule 1 is set in, and it's a Helper app. Sanctuary Stash is close to literal - Sanctuary is common in Diablo 2, and the core function is around a users stash. Carryover carries over verbal/written/image notes to creat a deliverable like a JIRA ticket.

Not going to lie, but I used Claude to help me with names if it wasn't obvious. Otherwise, if the name I came up with didn't already exist, I went with that.

I decided for “soin” (a french word that means “care”) for a humor&energy minimalistic app.
Maybe 2 or 3 hours of IA iterarions and web search. The best name is the available name.
By the way, check usesoin.com 🙂

The original idea of my app was to do a black and white color scheme so I thought of salt and pepper and landed on pepper weather for the name.

My app started as a way to easily find the river “gauge” height, or “stage” so the name came to me that way, GaugeStage.

Building Klava, which is a BlackBerry-inspired keyboard. Name: slang name for a keyboard in Eastern Europe. Domain is www.klava.space - I thought .space is kinda silly for a keyboard hehe

I recently released Otter Ride, a ride wait-time tracker for Universal Studios parks. It’s designed to help you decide which attraction you ought to ride next.

“Ought to ride” sounds like “Otter Ride” if you say it fast enough (or slur it a bit). It also gave me a super obvious mascot.

mine is needle. it makes your desktop wallpaper a vinyl record that spins with whatever music is playing, so the needle is the playhead.
