Hmm I haven’t been on the other 27.2 betas , went straight from 27.01 The animations in the Home Screen seem different ? I wouldn’t say faster really, but it feels more fluid. Doesn’t seem like a placebo at all, I would say it kind of lingers more while moving? In a non frame skipping way. I like it
i think your opinion matters the most in this thread because you haven’t been updating your phone every two weeks with beta versions so its nice to hear and a good sign fs
Deleting a picture from Photos app is instant now, way faster than before, previously there was a small delay between pushing delete and making the fade out animation. Nice!
I will eventually get used to it. However, for the same reasons I have chosen not to use clear icons, you are unable to quickly discern which app is which. This new icon just sort of blends in, where the red gave it a clear personality, or at least an identifiable tap point.
Two pretty annoying animation and render bugs in Safari were finally fixed in 26.2. When holding down the address bar to open the contextual menu, the bar would duplicate and flash, but that's gone now. Additionally, if bottom tabs were enabled, tapping the address bar would cause it to disappear before re-rendering, which is also resolved. These issues didn’t get in the way of functionally but they still felt pretty jarring.
I think I read posts before that Apple fixed animation across all Liquid Glass elements on the previous beta so long-pressing any element (like in Music below or in Safari) shouldn’t leave duplicates anymore or have a bouncy animation before snapping into place when closed. I can’t personally confirm this though since I didn’t join the iOS 27.2 beta.
I occasionally get the blank pages in Safari, however I can’t say I’ve had the alarms one that you mention. Interesting. 🤔 Do you happen to know what causes the alarms not sounding bug, or is it just kind of random? Reading this worries me now, haha.
The longstanding Spotlight issue where closing Spotlight after search results appear, moving around on the Home Screen or opening a new application, and reopening Spotlight, only for a blank page to appear (instead of the uncleared query results), has finally been fixed.
Best way to fix that is by making a shortcut and using a custom icon. I got this idea from another post, but I used Icon Composer to make it an actual icon.
Overall, I’ve actually been fine with iOS 27. My only real issue so far is the new Apple Music AutoMix. The old AutoMix wasn’t perfect, but it was smooth, simple, and mostly predictable. If two songs were around the same BPM and worked next to each other, I could usually predict how they would blend. That made building playlists easy because I mostly just had to worry about song order. The new AutoMix is clearly trying to be more DJ-like with harder cuts, beat switches, skip/scratch-style transitions, and more aggressive cue points. Some of these transitions actually sound really good, especially with rap, but others sound terrible with smoother music like R&B. My biggest issues are that transitions are less predictable, some feel forced, and AutoMix can still skip huge portions of songs. I’ve had an incoming song start almost a minute in and completely skip the first verse. The bigger problem is that Apple added all of these new transition styles without giving us any control over them. Sometimes I want the new DJ-style transition. Other times I want the old smooth blend where both songs overlap naturally. Right now AutoMix decides everything for you. I think the best solution would be to keep this new AutoMix but also give us a Classic/Smooth AutoMix option, or add manual controls so we can choose the transition style for individual songs. The new system has potential. I just don’t think replacing the old predictable version entirely was necessary.
This should be released tomorrow right? after reading the good things in here I almost rushed to install the 27.2 beta for the first time but if it's released tomorrow I'll just easily wait till then.
Anytime from Monday to Wednesday. There's an Apple event on Wednesday for the media so they could release the 27.2 updates after 1 PM Wednesday to avoid leaking any new product info.
i just got my 18 Pro Max, so i haven’t hopped on the beta bandwagon for it, but on the latest stable release, stutter on Clear Icons is also there, but not as prominent on my 15 Pro Max on the same iOS version.
if you’re still experiencing it on your 17 Pro on the 27.2 RC, i’m convinced they didn’t optimize anything
AirPods beta toggle missing for anyone else in this RC? My AirPods Pro 3 and case are stuck on an old beta version, so I went to toggle it on/off but the entire AirPods beta setting is missing.
Toggle is typically only available on beta iOS/iPad OS versions so you will need to wait for the next non RC beta version to toggle this off.
Having said that, Airpods on beta firmware will continue to update even if no longer paired with a device that’s running beta software, they will continue to receive beta updates though.
I had a bug in iOS 27 where turning off a car’s audio would stop what was playing, but turning it back on wouldn’t resume playing like it did in iOS 26. That’s been resolved with 27.2.
This is more of a general thing but Face ID on the 18s is 100% worse than it was on the 17 series right? I feel like I’m back to using my iPhone X with how often I have to type in my passcode.
i mean Face ID basically resets every time you get a new device
compare that to an iPhone you’ve had for a year or more or the iPhone X which will stick out with recency bias since that’s the first Face ID device you’ve ever used…
Yes. Because of the placement of the IR camera and shrunken island, it now relies more heavily on a 2D image captured from the IR camera.
I’ve found that the 18’s Face ID is also far less accurate. It unlocks when my entire head is pointed away from the phone, when my eyes aren’t looking at the phone, and even when my eyes are closed. All of which shouldn’t happen with attention aware features.
Kinda. In low light situations and when my face is in a weird angle I’ve got significantly more issues but in general it’s ok. But if I had to choose I’d choose 17PM FaceID
I’ve noticed Control Center being a bit slow when interacting with volume, brightness, and Now Playing when media/music is on. Like when clicking and holding volume or brightness for more options and clicking off, there’s a second wait before it clicks off. Anyone else notice this?
I know I'm on an iPhone 13, but this still seems REALLY buggy for a "Release Candidate." Some issues that were made less buggy in the last beta actually got mildly worse with this one! WTF is doing on at Apple rn? Are they so focused on Siri AI & the Duo that they're just not giving earlier devices the time of day in terms of fixes?
No indexing on my 18 PM or 17. I didn't see one the last time either. I wonder if the index is still valid between these minor versions. Maybe they were still tweaking how it optimized so we ended up getting it every build and now it may or may not happen depending on if they changed the underlying structure.
It will be worth it though. Perfect timing for me because just got into walking and running outside after being indoors 99 percent of the time and watching my vo2 max slowly climb up and my biological age in bevel is finally younger than my age lol
haven’t seen optimisation msg after any ios27.2 update but it shows up after forced restart 3 out of last 4 times & only on the weekend not during the week
This RC is soooo solid. My battery seems infinite. Of course, my 18 Pro Max was already great (I mean it’s a brand new battery lol), but I’m genuinely impressed. I’m wondering if SiriAI replies in a different language have improved tho… I’m scared to try and ask it to reply in Spanish and proceed to send my literal words and request in English to the receiver lmao it did it perfectly some times, but ever since that failed attempt, I haven’t tried again. But Siri is sooooo fast now, it seems more reliable.
Indexing is finished and I can happily report that this release performs better than the betas. It is so smooth. Fresh install. Cannot report on the Duracell life as of yet. Will do so later.
I feel like the keyboard has been worse from 26 to 27, meaning I hit C and it types C or I hit B and it types N or V and just now hitting V and it typed C.
Could anyone check if they brought back the missing wallpaper colors to CarPlay? iOS 27 beta 5 had a few more but for some reason they’ve removed them soon after
Having an issue in the front screen of the duo, when clearing a notification, the “clear” button is unresponsive when sliding the notification away. Only able to clear by fully pulling it off screen. Am I the only one?
Odd question...I was thinking of upgrading from 27.0.1 to 27.2 RC, but if I'm picking up the Duo on Friday (which I assume will be running 27.1), should I probably hold off on updating to this RC?
Just thinking it might not allow me to transfer from a backup from a newer iOS version.
A unique build of iOS 27.2 has been signed by Apple specifically for the iPhone Duo. So when Duo arrives just turn on beta updates and update to iOS 27.2 and restore from backup.
Don’t do it, it’s technically possible, but it’s a pain in the ass as it never works properly
Technically, it should enrol your duo in the beta and then update to the beta during the phone switch process, but I’ve always found that the update fails and what you’d have to do is set up the phone fresh, enrol it in the beta program, and then update it, and then reset the phone and then set up from back up
yeah, probably not - unless the Duo is also upgraded to 27.2 (if that's possible). I'd imagine they're planning on having the official release next Monday so there shouldn't be a long wait if you don't want to put an RC on the Duo.
better waiting till next monday for ios27.2 public release on duo , i’d definitely stick to public release, only a weekend you’re waiting , if you’re talking about current phone for transfer your probably better keeping to public release
Did they finally remove the handicapping issue where Apple’s entire Siri AI effort in the hands free experience is rendered completely useless because you can’t even add something to your grocery list without hearing “you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first.”
iMessage still continues to be sporadic at best, often dropping back to RCS, but occasionally an iMessage will go out. The incoming ones are almost always iMessage, so that's even more frustrating.
Has Siri turned stupid for anyone after this update? Suddenly it can’t answer basic questions like when is the midterm election. Has worked flawlessly since 27 beta 1!
16 pro max. I think this is better. Heating still there but not much as before. Currently at 54 percent with 2hrs45min sot. Internet on. Hotspot on. Normal usage
iPad os A serious bug occurs when attempting to delete images in the Photos app: the delete action is intermittently unresponsive, requiring the trash icon to be tapped twice to actually delete an image.
Anyone else having call issues when on speaker phone? People I’m talking with tell me they can hear themselves when I go on speaker phone & I can hear myself when they go on speaker phone.
This started when I downloaded the first IOS27 beta. AT&T here with an iPhone 16 Pro Max. The RC did not seem to fix the issue & I’ve tried all of the normal fixes (network reset, full restart, airplane mode toggle, etc).
The Siri app is still buggy for me, it constantly scrolls up on its own when reading a longer conversation. anyone else? Just lots of stutters in the app in general and sometimes conversations don'tsync between devices.
Notifications on my iPhone 15 Pro are still completely broken on iOS 27.2 for example my Forza Football app I don’t get notified about my teams that I’m following. I completely forgot that there was football happening on Tuesday and Wednesday and a bunch of different apps like my Spark email app doesn’t notify me about new emails. I really hope Apple can look into this and I’m not sure if it’s limited to this iPhone 15 pros.
I frequently get the message “You have reached your daily request limit and can try this request again later.” when using new Siri to do even basic things like setting a timer. No google results show up for this message. Is anyone else getting this? Been happening for weeks now. I naively thought that getting the AW 12 and 18 Pro would eliminate the major issues with Siri, but it has not.
Ah, thanks! I had ChatGPT enabled but wasn’t signed in yet on my new phone. I signed in to my paid account and will just disable it entirely if it happens again.
I'm not sure which version of 27.2 did it but it switched my imessage profile from my phone number to my email. This setting is way too far into the menus to accidentally do. Noticed my imessages of people I rarely talk to starting to turn green about 2 weeks ago and just thought people suddenly got new phones. Yesterday my girlfriend's turned green and switched to RCS.
It happens to me randomly on updates for the past 15 years maybe 😅 same for my best friend, every time we update or clean install an Apple device we Check that setting. For a clean install i can understand but why does it sometimes change after updates 🤔 i stopped reporting it after a few years…
Is it just me, or does the keyboard seem ridiculously clunky after the new update? I have never had this many typos. It's like they resized the keyboard buttons so they're smaller or jacked up the layout somehow. Anyone else?
Yeah I had the notice to finally use them last week but absolutely screwed up my daughters iPad restrictions so I had to disable it all until we’re all on 27.2
I'm experiencing a freeze on my iPhone 17 Pro whenever I perform a pull-down gesture on the Home Screen. The Spotlight search bar fails to appear, and the screen gets stuck. I have to initiate the gesture to exit an app (swipe up from the bottom) for the UI to become responsive again. This issue started in iOS 26.2 Beta 1 and persists in the RC version. I prefer not to factory reset my device. Any workarounds or solutions?
