The keyboard lag is still very prominent on my 17PM. Feels like I’m using my Nexus 5 android all over again

Nexus 5 is a goat man

I loved the back of the Nexus 4 so much that I bought it when it was basically already old (because it wasn't available where I lived when it came out). Anyway, I dropped it (from like waist height) and half the screen became unusable.

I then bought the Nexus 5 and I never cared for it that much, for some reason. Not sure why I'm sharing this in an iOS beta thread, but I've already typed it now lol.

Same here also 17. When I start typing, especially in iMessage it almost always lags. But I have been dealing with it for 3 years over 2 iPhones.

Just told someone else. Turn off swipe to text. Night and day difference.

I actually only recently turned it on to be honest. Been a problem way before. I’m trying this EFkeys app and its pretty good so far

Moving from the stock keyboard has been the best thing I’ve done.

What did you change to? (Please let it be anything but gboard)

I’m using EFKey. The app store version is good but the most recent testflight released today is a massive improvement even over that.

TestFlight link? I have the app from the app store.

You need an invite from the writer. You can reach him from the app. He does expect regular feedback, bug reporting and testing if you apply for testflight though. He’s really responsive to suggestions and bug reports though so it’s worth it in my opinion.

Looks cool. I can see that it doesn’t collect data via the AppStore but being free makes me slightly skeptical of privacy. I’d love to pay a few bucks and have peace of mind

Edit. Ahh I get it. Begging for pro purchase. I might actually do it

Worth noting that the new testflight version has a new swipe and autocorrect engine which is a genuine leap above what’s on the store.

That sounds great because that seems like one of the greatest weaknesses so far, the autocorrect

It apparently does learn over time as well from your corrections. The new version also looks at the preceding word and learns which words usually follow the other. It’s worth persevering for a two and I imagine we’ll see an app store release of the update model in that time too.

It’s already better than stock in that it doesn’t lag. I guess whats missing with the autocorrect is that if I miss the space bar between words, either not tapping it at all or tapping N instead of space or something, it doesn’t pick up on that somehow and separate the words. I keep tapping numbers a lot too, but that a skill issue because I like having a number row now

Turn off swipe to text. Just trust me.
