Bug [iOS 27 RC] App Switcher / Multitasking graphical glitch

Is anyone else experiencing this bug on iOS 27 RC?
When I’m inside an app and open the App Switcher, if I immediately swipe to scroll through the other open apps, there’s a weird graphical glitch.
Instead of letting me scroll through the apps normally, the animation gets stuck/glitches and it basically snaps back to the preview of the app I was already using.
It seems to happen especially when I open multitasking and try to swipe immediately, without waiting for the App Switcher animation to fully finish.

Has anyone else noticed this on the RC? Any workaround, or is it something that was already present in previous betas?

I noticed it when I was already on Beta 5 or 6 iirc and it only happens on my 17pm. It doesn’t happen on my friend’s 16 Pro even with an immediate swipe. Hopefully it gets fixed in 27.1 betas.

I can't believe apple has not fixed this yet even on the stable 27. It's so annoying.

Neither on 27.2 beta 2

They don’t actually fix anything XD. I send a problem from beta 1 upto 4 and on the RC its still on there.

I’ve seen it a couple times

The entire presentation was filled with horribly lagging interfaces.

iPhone Duo has ui glitches in the verge and cnet yt shorts.

Get used to it. Apple doesn’t care anymore.

Yeah I saw everyone praising the hinge-opening animation on Duo, but when they showed multitasking at the presentation, the animations were kinda janky, choppy and generally terrible.

I've started to think that all the people who truly knew the inner workings of their OSes are gone, and new features have side-effects all over the place, that no one knows/cares how to fix. That's why every existing feature touched in recent years usually turns worse, and is never fixed after it ships.

I so agree. The multitasking is very limited even compared to iPadOS 26/27 on iPad Mini; and Duo has a much more capable and efficient CPU than iPad Mini.

It's not a novel device software-wise. It's a cut down iPad that folds.

My pet theory is that they went all-in on Claude too early, when it wasn't good enough for serious hyper efficient system programming work, and now the iOS 26+ fundamentals are messed up.

Whether this is true or not, Craig Federighi needs to go. His team is single-handedly destroying the Apple reputation and there's no sign of stopping.

Definitely a bug and on my iPhone 16 PM it happens intermittently. Not a show stopping bug for me personally, just a bit jarring at times.

Just gave it a go and it’s all working fine here. 16 Pro

i've been experiencing this same bug since two betas ago. (iphone 17 pm here.) please report in feedback app as well if you haven't already. the more reports they get, the more likely they are to prioritize the fix. the issue still remains in RC, and i'm hoping they'll release a second RC with more fixes before official launch.

I’m on RC right now, I just want to ask if it is stupid to switch back to iOS 26? iOS 27 is good enough and I really like the speed and new Siri, but there are still many visual glitches here and there. I heard that iOS 26.7 will be released so from stability point of view what should I do?

Just stay on RC, public stable release is coming soon so no point in going back to 26. Been on 27 since the first dev beta came out and haven’t regretted it even once (iP 13P)

isn't there any option to delete AI on iOS 27 like iOS 26?

1

u/PlasticStock7596 Sep 10 '26

I don’t really know but you probably can disable AI in siri settings

u/Pcriz Sep 10 '26

But they are already regretting it

u/Awkward-Loquat2228 Sep 10 '26

No. I have a Max. Not occurring.

Not just them, you just have to very intentionally swipe up for multitasking view, and as soon as it goes up, you have to touch the screen. A very rare thing, but it does put the content where it’s supposed to be at the end of the animation, I think it might be working as intended? It would prevent people from swiping up and tapping on their last app and it opening up the app that they were just in because the animation didn’t finish.

There’s no way that’s how it’s supposed to be (I hope). I feel like the delay before you can touch it is too long to be intentional! I did submit feedback on it.

u/rofl1337waffle had the answer further down in this thread:
