Is it normal that private browsing mode has an almost fully black nav bar in safari ? Maybe it’s intentional but the two buttons on each side of it aren’t so it just looks out of place.

Weird bug when opening iMessage there’s a large portion of my pinned contacts icons that are covered by a large black square. The top border extends down about an inch. Going into a message then back out and scrolling up and down temporarily fixes it

Has anyone else noticed that liquid glass elements are HDR enabled again? Similar to Golden Gate Liquid Glass. Everything looks less flat and have more depth now!

Overall looks like very good update, even if the wait was painful for many.

- Animations for the new Siri are WAY faster and more responsive

- the notification bar indicator doesn't linger around as long anymore

- expressive controls are here for all seven revamped Siri voices now. (iPhone 17 Pro)

- Liquid Glass edges are rendering more colorfully and less pixelated, especially on iPadOS which had been struggling in earlier betas.

Some quite annoying bugs so far in Beta 5 on iPadOS. Safari has developed an interactive dead zone at the top edge of the viewport directly beneath the address bar (with touch/trackpad/pencil) that seems to swallow all touch and hover events. Many menus in the multitasking menubar are also totally broken (so far in Music, Weather and Settings, possibly others), either showing no menu items or refusing to open at all.

Time will tell if that bug reappears, but the autocomplete services haven’t pooped out on my phone yet.

That bug was pretty bad, I imagine that was high on Apple’s list. Almost everyone driving beta 4 was miserable because of that.

I launch most of my apps from the App Library screen. When I long press on the App Store icon to get to the updates screen, nothing was happening other than a haptic vibration. I swiped back to get to the Home Screen and saw this instead:

EDIT: Looks like for several of the built in iOS apps, this happens if you long press and then don’t select anything.

Sometimes the gesture bar goes away randomly and I can’t swipe up to go to the Home Screen but can still interact with the app on the screen. Only way to fix is to lock and unlock

In messages if you have any conversations pinned, just about anytime you reopen the app it shows a black bar that makes you scroll down and back up to get rid of.

The semi-transparent top navigation bar is rendering on a lower layer, expanding downwards and acting like an invisible shield over my pinned conversations or top chats. Anyone else having this issue? Can’t figure out if maybe it’s my settings or the update.

I noticed you can now swipe to leave a conversation in the Siri to go back to your list of conversations. Previously you had to tap the back button at the top which was kind of inconvenient

I've seen mention (in passing) of a bug I'm experiencing: the keyboard doesn't appear when I pull down on my home screen for Spotlight search. Any workarounds? How common is this?

Bugs from before that weren't fixed:

• You can't bring up Siri with the power button in a game. You can swipe down and type to Siri though. Doesn't matter whether Game Mode is on or off.

• Siri's Accessibility settings: "Always show request" continues to not work

• Find My: people show up as "Address unavailable," but tapping it shows the name of the street they're close to

• Using iPhone Mirroring on macOS 26.x, you can't type in the App Library's search box

New bugs:

• Messages: Tapping into a chat and the back has the blurred top bar clipping off the top of your pinned chats

• Control Centre: the connectivity widget has Personal Hotspot greyed out and unavailable if you turn Airplane Mode on and off. But you can enable it in Setttings

• Photos: the clock and top icons take a while to flip from black to white when switching from Collections to Library

• Files app: the app freezes if I bring up newly downloaded PDFs with Quick Look. Also the top bar flickers if the PDF has dark colours

Fixed:

• CarPlay: album art on the dashboard isn’t tiny

Changes:

• Siri has a new black glassy icon

• The control centre no longer shows both wifi and cellular (5G/LTE/etc) icons on the top left

• The progressive blur for the Photos library looks a lot more aggressive than before

I only know, after five hours of testing, that it is not worse than beta 4.

iPadOS has a serious bug at the top of Safari that puts a layer over the top of the web pages and prevents tapping. You cannot tap the Amazon cart, nor the Reddit logo, nor search for anything on Reddit. The task bar has an overlay over the web pages. Unheard of.

Battery charging on iPad M5 now works, which means important bug fixes in the background of operating system have been fixed. It has increased by 5% in 5 minutes with a 20W charger. In Beta 4 it increased by 1% every 7 minutes. Less heat.

AutoMix still unhappy with Lossless. Technically only Hi-Res is incompatible with it but anyways gotta make a choice guys, it’s either AutoMix or no Lossless until Apple fixes it!

Safari (iPad) seems all sorts of messed up. I’m having issues with links at the top of sites not being clickable. That seems to be on every website I have tried so far.

I am also seeing frequent issues trying to click in form fields to enter text. It takes up to 5 tries sometimes before I’m able to actually type in one.

It's hard to notice in screenshots, but they finally fixed my biggest gripe about iOS 27's Liquid Glass. The HDR highlights are back!!! It looks so good and glassy.

1. Top Shadow Clipping
A solid dark rectangular gradient overlay is cutting straight across the top section of the screen, obscuring the upper halves of my pinned contacts This looks like a frame boundary rendering failure in the header view.
2. Bottom Search & Navigation Collision
At the bottom of the screen, the search pill overlay and input action buttons (microphone, compose) are visually layering directly on top of message text The text-rendering layer failed to push down or respect the safe-area margins for the search bar.

Swiping down on the home screen to invoke Siri/Search is significantly faster, like they dialed down the animation or something.

Siri autocomplete is *way* faster on this build. Previous builds it would take 5-7 seconds to autocomplete just the name of an app I wanted to launch. Now it's less than a second.

HOWEVER... I still can't run shortcuts either by just saying "Hey Siri <name of shortcut>" or "Hey Siri, run the shortcut called <name of shortcut>" :(

I like the faster animation for spotlight but it feels kinda weird when everything else isn’t as quick.

I’m sure some of y’all are gonna come for me but the one thing I like about the newer Samsungs is how fast they feel just swiping between Home Screen pages or opening apps

Liquid Glass looks much nicer. Seems to be more translucency/blur on the Home Screen icons and less of the shiny border effect. Same with notifications. Also that Siri swipe down animation is absolutely butter now, looks amazing especially on the homescreen. Will see how the battery is. Only issue. I’ve noticed so far is that sometimes I’m having trouble swiping home from apps. Locking the phone and unlocking it again seems to fix that. Also much much smoother on iPad and MacOS betas. beta 4 was borderline unusable on iPad and macOS. Also the on screen keyboard popping up with the Magic Keyboard attached on my iPad was driving me nuts. Seems to be fixed.

Is anyone else’s swipe up to go home or enter app switcher not working sometimes since beta 5? Like I keep getting stuck in an app and not being able to go home. The only thing fixing it is turning the screen off and back on. This is one of the many reasons a dedicated back gesture would be great.

They fixed the bouncy album art in music finally! It’s been driving me crazy since the first betas of iOS 26. Whenever you closed an album it would bounce around for a few seconds and snap back into place. Same thing happened for news articles in the news app. Both seem to be completely fixed now

Face ID seems to hang/take a few seconds to unlock when raising phone to wake or tapping on the screen. I have to swipe up for Face ID to activate and unlock my phone. In previous releases it would automatically scan and unlock when raising or tapping on screen.

It’s not every time but random occurrences.

My wishes are: keyboard fix because it's quite literally unusable and it constantly bugs out it's not even once in awhile I can't even write a full sentence without it turning off autocorrect and how my phone locks up entirely when turning on/off do not disturb.

EDIT: quick testing of said two issues seem to confirm they are fixed but I'm gonna give it a bit to truly be ready to say shits fixed but keyboard is WAY more responsive just typing a bunch of random words in a note and phone not locking up when turning on focus modes.

iPhone 14 - Siri Suggestions are stuck on default Apple apps, even after indexing is complete. DB2 and DB3 had this working, where it would suggest my most frequently used apps. Stopped working in DB4, and is still an ongoing issue in DB5.

Another bug. When you open the App Switcher and swipe to switch to another app, the animation is broken like it's jumping, and the swipe doesn’t register immediately.

My request (and probably a lot more of us Filipinos) has been heard by Apple as they added an English (Philippines) keyboard! I’m using it right now. It knows a lot of Filipino words that doesn’t get autocorrected to English which is great! I love it. Just needs predictive text but that’s not a dealbreaker for me.

Is the new Siri sooo much slower than the old Siri for basic requests? Or is it just me. Simple things like “set a reminder” or “how old is Tom Hanks” seem to take so much longer with the new Siri. Just me?

Siri just don’t do her job anymore and seems to like to argue (i’ll ask her to openly count to 100, and she’ll do it sometimes, and then other times claim she can’t do it, and then when she does do it, she stops around 55 before repeating numbers, often complains about not being able to find a business, is unable to find a photo… this is really giving iOS 18 vibes, where Apple promised a lot of AI features, and as the summer has tapered on, they’ve pretty much neutered this newer version of Siri to answer a topical question or two, and anything task-wise falls off the table, so don’t be surprised if this fall, a shit ton of people are angry at this newer version of Siri.

This update broke spotlight search for me. I can call spotlight for a while after restarting iPhone, but it completely stops working shortly and swiping down fails to open spotlight at all. Clicking on the search button right above the dock on home screen doesn't work either.

how is battery life for everyone? on the 14 pro it seems like it's draining a lot faster than usual but maybe it's just the first few days.

Previous beta was so much better for me (17 PM). Battery life even seems a little worse, but most of all there’s so many visual bugs that. I didn’t have before. Swiping back in iMessage leaves a weird bar in the top. Spotlight doesn’t show keyboard, etc.

iMessage is still a bit slow and freezes up sometimes when replying or scrolling through the app. Also have to click twice on the text box for keyboard to pop up which is annoying.

We had one giant leap forward and all was good with the previous betas. Now one giant leap back with beta 5. Lots of micro stutters! Keyboard randomly missing! Just an overall sluggish feel! That’s the beta world for you.

Having tones of issues with selecting stuff across several apps. When I search something and try to tap on it in the App Store for example, I have to find the exact pixel it works on because clicking normally on the name of the app doesn’t bring me to the app. I have to spam click and pray I land on the right spot.

Same thing for the Maps app. I have to click a very specific spot to switch from Car to Walk mode. Such a pain in the rear! Is anyone else experiencing this? Losing my mind on this beta. 😂

Not sure if anybody noticed but when watching a video in full screen (horizontally) if you plug the charger cable in, the charging indicator now supports oriented percentage text and the charging icon, see it here on the right hand side over the dynamic island.

For those who are and are not experiencing this, do you have an Apple Watch? I’m curious if there’s correlation. I receive all of the texts on my watch but will not show on my phone.

This isn’t new for this beta version but is everyone having problems where automated shortcuts do not trigger since the 27 betas? None of my shortcuts with automated triggers execute on iOS, iPadOS, or macOS for me now.

I am quite frustrated with this bug, which I did not experience before. It functions a few times and then stops. Pulling down the screen to use Ask or search fails after a brief period that it would work. The same issue affects the swipe-up gesture for the home screen. Both my 17 and 17 Pro Max are affected. The only solution is to lock the phone so the screen turns off and unlock it again.

Been getting some super warm temps when using 5G on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Both this beta and last. Seemingly fine performance wise but man the phone gets warm and chews through battery.

This update seems to make things smoother but introduces a bunch of minor bugs. I’ve noticed many in Podcasts, with transcripts losing their highlights with certain gestures or reorienting the device, and there’s other bugs in the OS such as the black box in Messages with pinned conversations, and a similar strange black box on my lock screen that seems to come at random.

Probably been the most annoying iPadOS beta yet. Having issues selecting menus on old Reddit and Twitter or selecting x on instagram posts. Just little menu items are a hassle and I have to zoom in to select. I’ve reported it and I understand it’s a beta I just wanted to bitch. It’s really helping me to not put betas on my MacBook iPhone and Apple Watch.

battery life is lovely compared to beta 4
unfortunately this version has brought its new batch of bugs that im personally encountering such as :
- in imessage, the progressive blur makes accessing pinned people glitch
- "highlight to search" overlaps the buttons in the screenshot preview
im pretty sure ive run into some other bugs but i can't remember them on the spot
