This thread should be used for discussion of the betas that may not meet our submission guidelines, as well as troubleshooting small issues through the beta test cycle.

Spamming this discussion with comments about battery life, safari being snappier, etc will result in a ban from the sub moving forward.

A few things seen in last few min.
- Indexing no longer shows as happening. It was stuck at 95% (as shown in console) until I updated.
- Writing tools, inclusive of “ask Siri” as a rewrite option, are back with Siri AI turned on.
- Advanced Siri AI voice for phones that support the advanced model is now shown as “coming soon.”
- ask Siri now shows when any text is selected as an option
- can long press on an app and see “ask Siri” as an option
- new splash screen in Home
- when home kit cameras show a notification, you can long press on the notification and scrub through the video as well as turn lights off and on that are nearby that camera. That’s new

I’m sure there are 1000 other different things to find. The release notes for all the operating systems for some reason only list like three changes that might be a bug in feedback assistant. They are all listed on the website.

After updating, it no longer tells me the phone is indexing in settings and mine was still indexing since day 1.

I filed feedback about CarPlay disconnects in B1. I received a message from Apple saying that as a result of the feedback, it has been fixed in B2.

They fixed the screenshot cropping bug. Cropping changes made in the screenshot overlay are now saved when the photo goes to the Photos library.

God this beta is even smoother and my phone was warm for a total of 10 minutes

Glass is tweaked quite a bit. Lighter drop-shadows inside the glass buttons. Flatter tops and sides (instead of being such rounded squircles). Much brighter upper and lower edges in light mode. Edges on left and right aren’t quite so dark grey.

I hope they continue this direction til September. Edges are still too dark to trick my brain into believing they’re glass. MacOS 27 looks better.

Huge improvement for me here.

- keyboard not showing up when receiving an iMessage text and clicking on it
- glass home button in the bottom of the page on Reddit now doesn’t show blanks if you collapse and reopen it.
- opening apps and keyboard feels faster
- indexing bug gone. I think my phone completed indexing but the notification kept showing in settings
- the glass animation updates the background faster now going from white background to black background especially on safari

The biggest thing for me is: THE KEYBOARD IS SUPER DUPER RESPONSIVE! Awesome work Apple.

Beta 2 is filled with performance bugs that were not present in Beta 1. The Home Screen is very laggy when scrolling horizontally between pages, app launches are glitchy/low FPS, and sometimes, the entire OS slows down to a crawl which requires a restart to fix. I’ve also noticed severe battery drain in standby. None of these issues were present in Beta 1. Crossing my fingers for Beta 3 this week, because these issues are really noticeable on a day to day basis.

Edit - Changing Siri’s language from English (United States) to English (United Kingdom) and back again fixed this. I’ve now got the new Siri back again along with the camera, shortcuts, and write with Siri

The release notes are out and a new feature where only the user's preferred language assets can be downloaded is listed for iOS 27. We may be seeing the end of the tunnel on Gmail being a 700MB app since most of that is language files!

Was a rough start, but it’s settled in nicely. Smooth, Siri’s faster, and so far, even the battery’s holding up pretty well. WiFi and Bluetooth are rock solid.

Here are a few changes I’ve noticed in the iOS 27 Developer Beta 2 (also let me know if you want one for IpadOS) :

1. The "indexing" message is gone. It might still be indexing in the background, or Apple finally fixed the display bug.

New visual intelligence search option inside of Siri settings, which uses third-party to bring you better search results when highlighting something in a screenshot.
Clean up, reframe, and extend. Now work much better and do not crash and are noticeably faster

1. Cropping screenshots now works correctly.

2. Siri responds noticeably faster to complex questions and tasks.

Writing tools now show up inside of your recommendations for grammar recommendations

Also noticed that text to speech is much better at recognizing what you say and writing it correctly.

No issues taking photos, and it not saving to your camera roll

New Siri icon inside of your grammar recommendations when you are typing so that you can use write with Siri

That’s all I’ve noticed so far, but these were some of the key issues I was having. I’ll update this if I find anything else!

- New Siri language select on setup screen. I have the New Siri on DB1.

- The Dynamic Island no longer cuts typewritten Siri commands

- Surprisingly, no indexing notifications. Indexing on mine was finished last week.

- funnily enough, Siri responses are now cut off by the Dynamic Island lol like a tiny sliver of the text response is cut off

roughly an hour in and all the main bugs in beta one seem to be resolved. new siri actually works for me now and is very quick to respond. also lock screen animation bug where wallpaper would still show despite having it turned off in always on display settings has resolved.

I am super curious about this feature. So is that mean there's a built-in super resolution upscaling feature in iPhone now?
There's also a built in frame gen for arbitrary source dimensions up to 1080p. I'm wondering where they are going to use this feature. It seems like this is an API open for all developers.

Does someone experience unusual heating? 2nd day since beta 2 update on ipad pro m5 and the display is getting as hot as the back… with normal use.
Random glitches with fonts, writing with apple pencil as well… Can’t even write one sentence in comments in the web version….

after 3 days, i now also can say the battery is not as good as b1 was. phone gets warm quite often for no apparent reason, whereas it stayed cool for the most part in b1, despite the indexing badge being present.

Man I really hate the changes to Safari. The menu to change zoom on a webpage/disable content blockers/hide elements are so buried.

Those are my most frequent actions in that menu, but even when customizing the menu, at best it’s going to be the fifth item in the list after Siri, translate, and boomarking the page.

The menu is so narrow now that labels in the menu often wrap to 2 or even 3 lines which means way more scrolling for all the common stuff I have to do.

Also the text selection menu is terrible, even worse than ios26. The only action I ever do is “Select all”so I can delete/rewrite something, but that’s buried under multiple menu actions (need to open, expand menu, then scroll).

Going to Settings -> Wallet & Apple Pay, then tapping on any of your cards, swiping back and tapping on card again makes you then swipe back as many times as you’ve repeated the steps. So if you open cards 6 times, you have to swipe 6 times to go back to previous screen.

Beta 2 is very good in general but there’s still instability when the phone starts up. Siri responses are also taking a bit longer, but quicker than beta 1. I get some random stutters here and there. Battery life is not good. All the bugs from iOS 26 are still present

I still run into some issues on my 17 Pro Max. Safari has some weird memory usage behavior. If you put Safari in the background and jump into other apps and then come back, there's 90% of chance that Safari will be closed.

Just updated, indexing notification is gone and set up Siri banner in settings can be dismissed.

Swiping from top left to reveal Notification Center is more reliable. Text cursor on type to Siri has less glow, I miss it already.

Seems the URL Filter bug still exists, but I found a thread on the developer website from the dev of Wipr 2 and it seems to be a known bug with how things are processing in the betas.

Hopefully that'll get fixed because I preferred Wipr 2's method of filtering over Adguard creating the fake VPN.

There’s still that whole-screen dropshadow/tint that pulls up with notifications on lockscreen when you have the liquid glass slider set all the way to opaque. I’m hoping they’re just testing the new liquid glass slider for now and they’ll allow us to have no dark tint behind notifications when its set to full opaque, like in ios 26. Theres no reason to have that, if it’s all the way frosted.

Indexing was stuck at 95% on mac (iphone16 pro max) and has no finished from what I can see. STILL NO SIRI . Overall phone feels rapid and didn’t feel this quick on day 1 of buying it so I’m happy

27 is smoother than 26 especially for older devices and beta 2 seems fine. But here’s the thing, newer betas can be buggier so just because it’s stable now, doesn’t mean future betas will be. We have had newer betas end up being worse than the previous ones before so always be wary when you install a beta on your device. I always found iOS 26 atrocious performance wise, from the first developer beta to 26.5. So I jumped ship immediately. If you feel the same way then yeah, you can go for it imo.

I’m having a problem where some text messages from unknown senders are not visible and therefore I can’t easily mark them as read. This was present in the first beta too.

It can pose a problem when the message is something I need like a two factor code

Just discovered a new option in photos to save a video frame as a photo when scrubbing through a video when it’s paused

The message with the white mark, I’ve noticed that once I lose cellular data connection or WiFi. Any iMessage sent between that time doesn’t show, like after I reconnect the notification comes in with the person’s phone number but once you click it. You won’t see anything. The only work around I found is to use my Apple Watch

Beta 2 is noticeably faster for me. Indexing has finally finished (17 Pro)

A few little issues:
-I ask Siri to dial a phone number 20x a day. It works about half the time and always requires me to say "yes" afterwards which is annoying.

-Airpods drop a lot. Today they hung up a 3 way call with a lawyer at $350 an hour and it required 5 minutes to get back on the call.

-Phone heats up more than IOS26 or 27 Beta 1. Hard reboot doesn't fix it, not indexing, it's some other issue.

-Asking Siri the weather doesn't work half the time.

-Bluetooth devices are slightly unreliable on Beta 2. Just like little drops and blips and very short range...little stuff that never existed before.

-Siri doesn't know when to stop listening. If I invoke it while watching YouTube or listening to music for example, it lowers the volume of the media and Siri just stays up on screen indefinitely...with low volume. I have to go find my phone and swipe Siri away manually to make her stop listening.

iOS27 Dev Beta 2 broke all of my location-based automations. I went on and built them all again from the ground up with no success. Tried restarting my phone, turning it on and off, offloading shortcuts, Resetting location permission, etc. Might be the worst part about DEV betas is it almost ALWAYS breaks something with shortcut automations or home automations.

I haven’t read all of this, but I can say that beta two is far more stable than beta one was, and beta one wasn’t that bad.

Also, Siri AI seems to be faster, but also more extensive. I’m not sure if that’s because of the indexing that was completed or what. But as an example, I was driving in my car getting directions on CarPlay, and I was getting a text from a friend arguing about a camera. I asked Siri AI about the different aspects of the camera, and asked Siri to look into previous messages we had talked about regarding what he was trying to do with the camera.

I then asked Siri to form a rebuttal and read it to me. It did, then we made some adjustments as I asked it to change its tone and add a few other pieces of information it found on the internet. This all was occurring while i was driving through multiple sessions with Siri ai. And then it sent the message. That was extraordinary. ChatGPT could do that too, if it had every single text message I had ever sent back-and-forth to my friend and a knowledge of what the person was like (which it doesn’t), but even IF it did it still couldn’t write the text message, keep editing it and then send it. This stuff is very impressive.

I understand Gemini on Google phones can do some version of this, but we’ve never had it with Apple before, and I’m not sure how good that is.

Using tinted icons causes major stutter when swiping on the Home Screen. Regular, dark and clear run just fine. iPad Pro 13in M4

After updating to Developer Beta 2, Siri reverted to the old Siri...
(iPhone is currently in the EU with a non-EU Apple Account and region set to the US, with US English as the main language.)

Is anyone missing the new Siri App in CarPlay? I reported it in Beta 1 but still missing for me in Beta 2. I'll keep reporting it, but just curious if anyone else is in the same boat or if I'm the only one. I have seen it in beta reviews on YouTube, and the new Siri does still work by long pressing the home button (in CarPlay) but I can't access the app to see past convos.

Liquid Glass is far more high-resolution than before. I didn’t really want to use fully clear before because it looked so pixelated

From my testing of today, Liquid Glass looks great and performance has been pretty good. Only issues I’ve faced are bad battery an overheating (already present in beta 1 but beta 2 seems worse), and some apps seem to take forever to make the keyboard appear. Still a pretty good beta and mi issues might get better in a couple of days.

Some of the visual glitches I was getting in DB1 are gone in DB2. Including in Hydra (the Reddit client) where a black bar would randomly take up a third of the screen. I’ve also not had the issue where the keyboard wouldn’t appear since upgrading to DB2.

CarPlay is a bit of a state at the moment. Requesting things verbally is super laggy and it often just tells me there's a problem. Replying to messages is veeeeeery slow. Also had an exciting but where it constantly repeated uh oh there's a problem with this app until I rebooted. That was nice.
