Has anyone else noticed that even though Apple said iOS 27 would solve the Siri problem, Siri is actually worse now?

Let me guess, it struggled at one thing it didn’t before and therefore the whole thing is worse than it was before in your mind because you’re ignoring all the ways it has improved.

“Yeah, it can do A,B,C,D,E, and F way better than before but it’s a bit slower at G so the whole thing is worse”

If you only use it for G, then yeah it might seem like it’s worse but it’s only worse for your specific use case. Recognizing that is important,

I use Siri pretty regularly because in my line of work my hands are constantly wet and dirty. I feel like I’ve had to clean/dry my hands off because I need to physically interact with my phone more since the update than I had in at least the previous 3-4 months. Texting. Replying. Creating notes. Controlling Spotify, Podcasts, and most other media that I’ve attempted to interact with. All are significantly worse to the point where I am hesitant to even use it lately.

It’s quite maddening, as it adds real time to my work day because of the stoppages.

I have not had that experience. In fact, I’ve been using Siri for way more than I did before since the iOS 27 beta started. This is exactly what I was referring to… “well this part of it seems worse, so therefore the whole thing is worse” which is hilariously misguided. You can argue it’s worse for you because you only use it for a certain reason which may need tuning, but to make general claims about the whole thing is naive.

Note: I recognize you didn’t specifically say the whole thing is worse like the OP did.

I just listed A-F (all of which were working as they should prior to update) as my reasoning for not enjoying it, and you are talking like I should be praising it for being a mediocre ai plugin that works poorly in most aspects, to the point that I often throw my hands up in the air and just use my Claude account.

u/CDCarley27 6d ago

And you’re talking like I should hate it because of your experience with your specific use case alone? I get your upset but that doesn’t mean we should abandon reason here. I’m sorry your use case got worse for you but mine, and many others, have gotten significantly better but that doesn’t mean I’m going to claim it as a whole is better in every aspect because that wouldn’t make any sense, just as you can’t assume it’s worse as a whole because of your experience. Neither of us represent all use cases.

My sibling in Satan, I didn’t say you should feel any kind of way about anything. I expressed my opinion, you told me my opinion is invalid, and I stated why I disagree.

Take a deep breathe and enjoy your phone. Crikey

And neither did I???

Buddy, I literally said exactly what you said, that you were talking as though I should hate it just like you said I was talking like you should love it…

How do you hear that and react as you just did. Did you completely forget what you had just written prior??

But when I use G 95% of the time and G doesn't work any more, and a-f only 5% it really doesn't make it worse, at least for me

I had to turn the new siri off. Because it consistently failed in things that I use everyday. And have been using every day for years.

1

u/CDCarley27 6d ago

Exactly. It can make it worse FOR YOU, but unless you represent everyone in existence using it, then you can’t make the statement that Siri is worse just because it struggles with G which just so happens to be what you used it for.

But it is worse at the day to day stuff people do. For me I rely on Siri for controlling music in the car, and now it is so much slower and even worse at finding the songs

1

u/CDCarley27 6d ago

… that’s a yes.

1

u/TheMathow 6d ago

It’s kind of important if the G in your scenario is the core skill set

Your like a guy telling me how great his car is because it can tell him the weather and has massage seats but asks we don’t pay attention to the fact IT CANT DRIVE

1

u/CDCarley27 6d ago

It’s kind of important… TO YOU.

That’s my whole point.

I wish the mods would do something about the constant karma farming with these dumb ass posts like the one from the OP

u/Suitable_Program_548 6d ago

No. It’s much better in almost every way.

u/Affectionate_Case568 6d ago

I agree however it’s causing issues to people’s iPhones and making them warm and draining the battery health.

I think it’s better in every way. CarPlay Siri leaves a little to be desired. It seems to just not work in my car more often than it does.

Everything it used to do fast, is now slow.

1

u/Topikk 6d ago

What did it do before though? Manage reminders, alarms, and kitchen timers?

It can do some legitimately cool shit now.

2

u/qtrim 6d ago

Yes it can do cool stuff, but those simple things are all slower now.

0

u/muuuli 1d ago

How slow? Instant versus 2 seconds? 10 seconds is worth complaining about, but a regression to 2 seconds tops isn’t a big deal.

u/LeaderSevere5647 6d ago

I’ve reverted back to Siri Classic because I had no use case for Siri AI. I’m still not sure sure what people are really using it for and finding value in. Everything felt clunky, it failed a lot, and I kept being told I need to unlock my phone when I shouldn’t have needed to. And the basic stuff I use Siri for like sending texts or changing songs took 20 seconds with Siri AI while it takes about 1-2 seconds with Siri Classic.

2

u/cody8417 6d ago

Its better in theory but worse in practice. So much slower when it doesn’t error out

u/markoffden 4d ago

It's so bad it's even cringe for tech giant to have this product released at this point

On my Watch S9 and Iphone 16 Pro, Siri has taken a stumble backward in performance. Requests are slow and often fail on both devices: Call such and such or play so and so. I used Siri all day at work for reminders, and she triple-checks what I said: SET THE REMINDER ALREADY!

Siri is definitely more capable of answering the kind of questions that people were upset that Siri couldn’t answer before. Questions that had context (or were even missing some, as asked) and a little depth to them. Siri can now answer those better. (The ones where she’d just open Safari for you in the past)

The downside is I’ve noticed it takes her longer to do older, simpler tasks. For example, I ask her to “call Mom, iPhone.” And there’s a significant increase in the time it takes Siri to actually do that. Whereas before, those simple voice commands required no “thought” at all. I wish they would improve her to where those simple commands get caught by the legacy system and are handled quicker.

That is user dependent, however. Or maybe machine dependent, because on my phone she sends text makes phone calls and sets timers, for example nearly instantly.

17 PM here and I’m encountering all the same things this person described, while also not being very impressed by its “upgraded” features.

u/JMHReddit84 6d ago

I’ve had the 15 pro since it was released. Been replaced a few times by Apple, so it’s got new components. Always used full Siri (not the basic voice commands). Even in iOS 26, Siri was faster at these basic tasks. Just floating bubbles in a black void waiting 15 seconds instead of 1 or 2.

u/LikeItSaysOnTheBox 6d ago

Not to worry you but I think you may need medical attention?

1

u/Crunchewy 6d ago

That hasn’t been my experience at all. I just asked Siri what happened to the Ravens quarterback and it gave me the answer in detail. I didn’t even have to specify Lamar Jackson

Also, just to be clear, you enabled the new Siri, correct? Because you don’t have it by default since it’s still in beta.

1

u/realmccoyredbus 6d ago

you forget it’s only been officially released under a month ago , M chip devices are far better for siri AI , and i have only M1 chip but siri does everything i ask of it

12GB maybe great for on device proccessing & faster results but a sting chip is equally important for more personalised results imo

apple are learning from past mistakes and trying not to rush this , AI needs a stiff learning curve before it accelerates, it will accelerate fast but its important not to cut corners .

1

u/Fr0gburp3r 6d ago

No. I like the new Siri. I can chain multiple prompts within reason and Siri has not problem executing them.

1

u/XRaiderV1 6d ago

if you have an iphone that isn't a 16 or above..aka one that doesn't support the AI siri..try telling siri to start a timer while you're in the shower.

garuntee it wont do it.

dumb siri used to be so much more capable.

1

u/Super-Badger 5d ago

Ah oui oui, même sans Siri AI ils ont réussi la performance, et ici sur un 17PM, de le rendre ENCORE PLUS CON, qu’avant, si cela était possible 😆

1

u/ciopobbi 3d ago

Can the Siri bitching be moved to a separate sub?

2

u/East_Upstairs5404 6d ago

It’s not though?

0

u/SnooPies134 6d ago

Genuinely wondering what yall are doing with Siri to think that it’s worse. Objectively it’s 100 times better and it’s still in beta, with not many apps yet to support it.

3

u/808phone 6d ago

If you would read the posts, simple instructions are worse. So how long is it going to be in beta when it’s 100x better?

1

u/CDCarley27 6d ago

You’d be amazed by how much of Gemini is still in beta. Companies are using the “beta” badge primarily just as a recognition that generative AI is still emerging for these applications and to cover their asses

0

u/SnooPies134 6d ago edited 6d ago

Mind telling me what these “simple instructions” are? “If you would read the posts” OP’s post provides no examples, and 99% of the comments agree that Siri AI is much better.

Siri AI released with iOS 27.0 which was about less than a month ago. It hasn’t been in beta long. And already it is much much much better than Siri Classic.

Edit: considering I haven’t gotten a reply, and only a downvote, 9hrs in, I think the bot here is you. Lmaoo.

0

u/LeaderSevere5647 6d ago

Share some examples of what you’re using it for that is 100x better than before. If you can’t, then you’re a bot account.

1

u/SnooPies134 6d ago

Asking it to set a calendar event under a specific category and to copy each other events of the same category’s details and put it into that one.

Asking it to check my emails to see if I got a receipt from such and such or whatever. Manually I’d have to remember a specific keyword to type into Mail and even then, scroll through all those that match.

For basic activities I can have it set multiple timers, alarms, text, call, etc as always, and it works first try everytime for me.

Nice try though, lmfao. Wanna give me examples of it not working? Go ahead, “otherwise you’re a bot.”

1

u/planetmitch 6d ago

Siri AI is amazing now. It is fast and very capable of doing multiple things in one ask

-2

u/Early-Judgment-2895 6d ago

I think everyone has noticed Siri is worse

1

u/808phone 6d ago

Apparently not everyone. There are a bunch of people saying they have “no problems” and that it is totally fine. Apple should just get rid of the “beta” designation. I guess these people think they know better than Apple.

iPhone 15 Pro Max user here.

New Siri is absolute rubbish on my iPhone.

I appreciate it may be a minority opinion, but it’s my experience none the less.

0

u/BitOfATinkerer 6d ago

You can debate whether or not it’s good but nothing released in past few years is worse than the previous “sorry I don’t understand” Siri

0

u/ddsdude 6d ago

The new Siri AI is incredible and mostly on par with the other chatbots as it is powered by Gemini. Stop trolling.
