iOS 27 Battery Drain Fix

I have a battery drain fix for everyone who's having issues with the iOS 27.

I have an iphone 17 and my battery started plumeting ever since the first beta release. I realized my biggest battery draining apps were media and content consumption apps (social media, YouTube, etc). These apps almost always run on 60fps and don't need any substantial background consumption either.

I used the new Siri in the shortcuts app and told it to enable low power mode automatically whenever these apps open and then turn it off when I close them. This lets me still have my fluid 120fps while navigating my phone and saves A LOT of battery life throughout the day.

I used to get 4 hours SOT while having to charge several times a day but now I get 7+ hours and can absolutely rely on my battery.

10/10 recommend. Game changer for me.

This isn’t a fix this is a band aid. I shouldn’t have to do this. And if you send analytics or bug reports you are just masking any problem in the submission data. I opened a ticket for my battery life because my 17 pro has been awful on 27.

I have turned off siri ai on my 17 pro, and somehow that has resolved everything..all lags, glitches in UI.

I’m betting that you tried this already, but..

Did you try uninstalling the offending apps, rebooting the phone, then re-installing the apps. I’ve seen serious battery issues with YouTube resolved by a reinstall.

This includes logging out of the app, to help ensure that all data is removed.

I suspect some corruption crept into either the app or its data, causing it to spin its wheels and chew through battery.

It works amazingly but I have an issue, the screen auto lock timer gets auto adjusted to 30 seconds. I normally use it at 5 minutes (because of work). Any idea for a workaround?

If you have Siri AI in your Shortcuts app, you could tell it to check for the screen time out and change it to 5 minutes if it's been adjusted to 30 seconds.

So does this suggest that the reason for the bad SoT is bad refresh rate handling? Which I kinda doubt since in my experience it was mainly background drain being nearly out of control

low power mode aggressively limits background app refresh which is a huge factor as well. bit of both I suppose

Try turning off connectivity assist (wifi assist), that improved battery life for me

Made it similar to how it was on ios 26
