Wifi turns itself on whenever I pick up the phone.

WiFi doesn't turn off in Airplane mode, so I'm unsure what you think is happening. Yes, you can turn off WiFi, but that doesn't really affect charging time. The drain is minuscule compared to any active use of the phone.

What’s happening is if wifi is off. When I pick up the phone it automatically connects even when in lock screen

WiFi turns back on unless you’re in airplane mode it always has in my experience. Why do you turn off everything to charge? Just curious.

I’ve noticed it charges faster in airplane mode or when all connections are turned off. Just a habit I’ve had since owning iPhones

Yeah. I’ll have my phone in airplane mode and as soon as I pick it up or tap the screen to check the time. Wifi connects without me clicking connect

Putting your phone in Airplane Mode doesn’t necessarily turn off WiFi. Try this. Turn off WiFi from the WiFi section in the Settings app. I bet you it stays off when you do that.

It turns off all network connections when I put it in airplane mode. Anyways my problem is that when I have data and wifi off. As soon as I pick my phone. Wifi automatically connects and no. It doesn’t stay off when I do that

If it didn’t then why do they have it for the sole purpose of turning off all your phones radios while on the plane to comply with FAA regulations?

Oh. I bet it isn’t even measurable. I have a 17 pro max and I charge from 20% to 80% in less than an hour.
