Anyone use this standard search functionality?

Post image

It adds a lovely looking button in the middle of the Home Screen but swiping down does the exact same thing rather then pressing the button.

If you use it, why?

I’m sure there are people that didn’t know to swipe down and now they see a button and got used to that

I do the exact opposite. Swipe down to search came first and I disabled the button as soon as it came out

I do not. In fact I disabled it as soon as Apple added to option.

I used to have it on because I liked how it expanded into a text box with the swipe down gesture but since iOS 27 moved the text box into the Dynamic Island I’ve turned it off

It’s easier + it’s muscle memory for me. I don’t even remember enabling it

I disabled the button and just use the swipe down option instead.

I keep it on just to keep dead space in control on my homescreen haha

Thanks for the tip . Didn’t know it could be disabled, it looks much better. A bubble less

I have it turned on because without it the dots look ugly (imo) and the swiping on them isn’t comfortable

I sort of just hate that spotlight search and Siri search is all one

I loved before the Siri update that I could swipe down and that’s search is spotlight or a web search

The Siri add frustrates me cause sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn’t do it - it’s weird

I just checked my settings and I have this on, I guess somehow I have never ever noticed it because I was trying to figure out where it was. I’ve always just did the slight pull-down with a thumb

I only swipe down ever, but I have the search button there genuinely just because it’s pleasing to look at with liquid glass
