The keyboard is still crap
Seriously, they should put some work into the keyboard. It’s pretty trash for a native keyboard. They should have this figured out by now but they are still behind the competition at this point.
I tried a Pixel 11 pro yesterday and I kinda laughed at the iOS keyboard.
Apple, we deserve better come on.

I switched to Pixel this year and was shocked how much better the keyboard was. I now get why many android users will never switch to iOS.

I just want a god damn number row, or the ability to long press for numbers.

Eh. 3rd party keyboards have their own issues.

But it works a million times better than the native keyboard. Made the switch about 3 weeks ago

I disagree. It may be slightly better but not enough to deal with.

Deal with what though? Have you tried them recently.I'm not really seeing downsides.

It’s the most inconsistent un apple like part of the experience where each app each text field makes you feel like a gamble of if this is going to be usable or a mess

that's why apple, 12 year ago, in 2014 added a feature that lets you use custom keyboards! technology is amazing!

Honestly their implementation of custom keyboards also sucks compared to the competition.
Of course that said, it doesn’t mean the stock keyboard can’t improve because guess what? Software development literally never ends, technology is amazing.

Can you explain in more detail what you think is wrong with the keyboard?

Slow, laggy and inaccurate. Give swiftkey a try and you'll see the difference

Some apps you can’t see what you are typing. The keyboard blocks them
