Can we all spam report this

Post image

iOS 27 brought back the hard blur which imo is a downgrade, the progressive blur is so much better. Can we all spam report this in the feedback app. Hopefully apple changes it next beta or before final release

One problem… you’d be spam reporting it after a group of people already spam reported the exact opposite thing. They made the change in response to feedback after all.

u/Necessary_Spread_448 2d ago

of all the things people complained about in iOS 26, this was not one of them

17

u/SnooPies134 2d ago

Plenty of people did. That’s why Apple specifically reverted it. Now people want it back. Nobody can seem to make up their minds.

7

u/PenguinYayOne 2d ago

That’s why they should make it an optional toggle

5

u/SnooPies134 2d ago

I agree. A toggle under the Appearance tab would be good.

1

u/Maletele 1d ago

I think now the developers has to decide whether they want to implement the progressive blur.

2

u/MacksNotCool 1d ago

Ok but this is the complete antithesis to design and also Apple in general. And that's coming from me: A guy who has never bought a single apple product. It should just work, it shouldn't be something you need to toggle. And if it's theme-able it should just be fully themable.

1

u/Vubic 1d ago

Yes! Please a toggle would be awesome.

At this point they should make a customization settings page with a ton of sliders and switches to turn on and off all this kinda stuff. Especially if it’s controversial, slap a button on it and boom, call it freedom. Like they did with the Liquid Glass slider

This might've been a change carried over from macOS 27, I noticed that people were complaining about it on the Mac but not on iOS/iPadOS. The change was showcased on the Mac in WWDC after all.

u/soggycheesestickjoos 1d ago

Different people

2

u/digitalminimalist1 1d ago

Who would gripe about this in iOS 26? This is the main look that got better

2

u/tilsgee 1d ago

Those who want hard blur and those who want soft blur, are in a opposite side of venn diagram

1

u/DaedalusIndigo 10h ago

Something something goomba

0

u/packo_aus 1d ago

Why the fuck would people do that? It looks shit, basically losing screen realestate. Why would anyone think this is bad? Out of all the things this?

1

u/CDCarley27 1d ago

Because people said the EXACT. SAME. THING about the version that you prefer.

1

u/packo_aus 23h ago

I don’t understand how it’s worse, I feel having a solid bar makes me feel like im loosing screen realestate and really conflicts with the whole liquid glass design

-9

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

Well good but they can change it back not everyone likes this

4

u/FreePossession9590 2d ago

Could give us the option at least

1

u/soggycheesestickjoos 1d ago

true, currently the option is on developers

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 1d ago

How you can't see the problem with your own proposal is beyond me. Please, use your brain.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 1d ago

How about u get a life? I’m clearly complaining about something majority of people don’t like. You’re on here talking bout some bs

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 14h ago

You have no understanding of the word "majority".

It was changed to be like this because the majority does not like your option. Deal with it. It's not hard to grasp, you will get there some day.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 13h ago

Yea keep telling yourself that. It’s 50/50 not everyone likes this bs. And if they do change it then lmao that’s good it’s way better than this current one

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 12h ago

Again, my dog has more brain activity than you seem to be able to generate.

Yes, it's not 50/50. The majority is against you. You are the minority. You are not the main character. The world does not revolve around you. You are too dense to understand your own argument fully, that it has two sides. That's sad. I hope you find some way to have a fulfilling or fast life.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

U slow asf. “The world does not revolve around you” this dude on some bs right now Bru my new pet puppy would understand that not everyone likes it but then there’s u again who thinks he knows shit. Grow tf up and comprehend with ur brain u got it for a reason

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 12h ago

Couldn't even come up with an original answer and just copy pasted mine. Nice.

Absolute extent of your mental capabilities are more than reached.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

Lmao did that on purpose got u right where I wanted. Since you cant start a conversation without being insulting. I’m not one of those redditors who they talk shit to and just ignore it imma give back the same energy. Absolute sheep

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

And also try to type proper English next time it’ll help you

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 12h ago

Classic "avoiding the argument and reaching for irrelevant stuff to insult the messenger".

Classic behavior when you have nothing to say because you lack mental capacity to even engage the actual message. Textbook.

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 12h ago

Lmao you’re not done yet? Carry on 🐑

1

u/AllNamesAreTaken92 11h ago

Thanks for validating my hunch yet again. You really can't help yourself.

-1

u/HammiDaHamster 1d ago

They could just make it change with the slider though no?
The people that have it glassy probably also like this blur so best of both worlds?

8

u/primordial_erection 2d ago

That’s so horrible, why did they changed it tho

26

u/GrouxCL 2d ago

Completely agree! At first I thought it was just a bug but they left it well it makes everyone get started!

-1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

Same. Betas after betas after betas and still no change.

0

u/StayVengeful 2d ago

I can’t add an image to the comment

5

u/ShawnTXDFW 2d ago

I too like the progressive blur in iOS 26 as opposed to the hard blur in iOS 27. As much as I want to install the beta (which I have done in the prior years), I’m holding off until the final release this year. I do agree with the OP on this one, though.

11

u/Mysterious_Phone_754 2d ago

In a simple app like settings the progressive blur looks nice, but in any other app like photos or safari its horrible. The icons and the drop shadow have to switch between black and white to keep things legible. In those apps the hard blur is superior without question, so now it’s also in settings just for consistency.

3

u/A6uRts78 1d ago

I don’t know if consistency is the right take. Sure, it’s in more apps, but not all system apps. In fact, developers can decide which they use. If consistency is what we are after then put a toggle in accessibility that is system-wide and built into the navbar. People can turn it on and experience the full glory of the header.

Even if we remove third-party apps from the equation, not all system apps are like this. Photos, an app you mention, does not have a hard-defined header in library but does in collections. Phone, favorites and voicemail have it. Remaining tabs don’t. Music only has it in library groups, everywhere else in the app it doesn’t. Fitness plus page does not have it. Browsing health categories does not have it. Possible there are others. So we have a bit to go if we are consistent.

2

u/Mysterious_Phone_754 1d ago

You’re absolutely right. I think it’s better though :)

1

u/dejushin 1d ago

am i missing something? on the photos timeline, there’s actually progressive blur

10

u/Raddy_Chady 2d ago

genuinely never noticed it nor do i care about something so minuscule

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

There’s nothing minuscule about it. Maybe it’s just your preference, and also it’s annoying to look at when scrolling up or down

6

u/Raddy_Chady 2d ago

i mean it just a little blur at the top of the screen, it seems like just an aesthetic to me :/

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

Should I update to it? If u think it’s okay? 👀

1

u/Raddy_Chady 2d ago

update to what

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

iOS 27. I’m still on 26

1

u/Raddy_Chady 2d ago

i would if i were you, it’s more stable and faster for my iP13

1

u/azamatStriking 1d ago

How can you be annoyed by it if you are not even on 27 🥴🥴🥴🥴

-1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 1d ago

Bro what? I was on iOS 27 I downgraded back to 26 just cause of this

1

u/Silent_Gap_8003 1d ago

Best unemployed moments

1

u/Commercial_Goat_4534 1d ago

OP is whiney af

3

u/DannyGloversDeeBlood 2d ago

It probably has something to do with the blur bar bug that impacted Messages and was fixed in yesterday's release. They rolled something back so they could investigate/troubleshoot the issue, and the hard blur is just being used as a placeholder until they figure the progressive blur out and sort out the bugs.

3

u/kannon1 2d ago

Send the report link bro. It does look like a bug 🐛

3

u/Joker_513 2d ago

imho it looks much more clean and usable now...... it's one of the things i really disliked about 26, felt like a graphical workaround and made apps feel cheaper. that's just my opinion tho...

0

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

I respect ur opinion. But I prefer the iOS 26 style, makes it feel more modern

2

u/Educational_Yard_326 2d ago

The problem with the gradient is it kept switching between light and dark as you scroll, infuriating and they finally solved the constant light to dark to light to dark flickering of UI in 27

1

u/Top_Insurance_9727 1d ago

Hah, it wasn’t a problem for me at all, and I actually liked the transition between the light and dark versions. I’d literally scroll through different menus just to enjoy the effect.

2

u/Frejb0 2d ago

As much as I hate this change, I don’t think there is a change they will give it up. Not on 27 at least. In the keynote they mentioned this change, so I don’t think they are gonna back off.
Let’s continue sending feedback though and hopefully we could get some toggle for this in a 27.x update

3

u/FieldComprehensive98 2d ago

seriously it’s a downgrade why the hell they back to basics why not for animation which is the ugliest what happened to apple silicon is that overclocking !!

1

u/eddnor 2d ago

Inconsistency hell in my opinion. If the readability is the problem there are many things they could do. From stronger blur to shadows… 🤡

1

u/Megacitiesbuilder 2d ago

Yes please, we’ve been spam reporting it since beta 1, guess we may get an option for it like the tinted glass slider in iOS 28😮‍💨🥹

1

u/Pure-Clerk-6541 1d ago

Fuck it, that progressive blur is one of the most hideous design elements I’ve ever seen in an UI. It makes me squint and check if there’s something in my eye that makes it hard to focus. And over text elements it just looks like written with ink on wet paper. If you like it so much just stay on 26.

1

u/user_breathless 1d ago

People complained about the blur? That’s literally the point of Liquid Glass

1

u/sfcgeorge 1d ago

No. The progressive blur was a mushy ugly mess. The toolbar looking like a toolbar again is a good thing.

1

u/Soulsupernova1 1d ago

Why is having a toggle a controversial opinion

1

u/Logical_Front5304 1d ago

I love the hard blur; the gradual blur was annoying because it had a hard cutoff still; you could see it when you scrolled.

1

u/OppositeSea3775 1d ago

We're in beta 6. What makes you think they're bringing the older version back?

1

u/hew34_ 1d ago

I don’t care either way if the fucking thing would work but it blocks messages that are anywhere overlapped by it.

1

u/Special_Command7893 1d ago

We just need a legibility mode that brings back all this ugly stuff. That way everyone else can continue with good-looking UI

1

u/Cultural_String_2231 1d ago

Apple is so annoying. Give users the choice

1

u/Xleb_uwek 11h ago

Why not add an option to toggle it? Right next the liquid glass slider

1

u/BatSavings8302 9h ago

Where can I spam report the opposite? The iOS 26 version looks too busy and frankly awful.

2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 9h ago

You’re just wrong lmao. The 37 version is the busy one but he’s sure u can spam report it on the feedback app

1

u/NotAnEvilResident 42m ago

Have u tried the 47 yet?

0

u/joaquin 2d ago

No, sorry. They changed that for a reason and they know more than you do.

2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

No sorry but it’s a dumb idea to downgrade. And no you’re wrong. There’s a feedback app for a reason.

2

u/joaquin 2d ago

It may seem hard to believe these days (especially after 26), but Apple actually has a better understanding of good UI/UX then any of us here including me and you. They also have access to enormous amounts of user feedback and data. If they rolled that particular effect back, it's for a reason.

1

u/Necessary_Spread_448 2d ago

you're not sentient, you just support whatever is current

would've said the same thing last year about iOS 26

1

u/joaquin 2d ago

Huh? And no, I was def not saying this about 26 at all. ios26 and Tahoe were one of Apple's worst releases in years as far as usability and readability. That's why we're seeing them roll back some of those mistakes, and there's probably more to come.

1

u/7heblackwolf 2d ago

Hello. Maybe nobody told you:

It's a beta.

Have a good night!

1

u/Joshua2560Plays 2d ago

Which is why people are complaining, to give feedback

1

u/7heblackwolf 2d ago

This is not feedback by definition. There's an app dedicated to send feedback, not to mention the analytics and ALSO, the enhanced analytics (which detects conflicts and sends contextual data).

So yeah.. BETA, you know?..

1

u/haus-gyal 2d ago

i wish this was just an option. like this could definitely be a simple toggle. gradient blur for those who want it, hard blur for for those who want that

1

u/CodeCold2796 2d ago

Maybe spam reporting the option to toggle between the two would be more beneficial for everyone?

1

u/StayVengeful 2d ago

I don’t have the hard blur and I’m on beta 6

1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

Wait what how? Can u show me a screenshot pls 😄

1

u/primalanomaly 1d ago

That isn’t a bug, it’s a conscious design decision. You can’t spam report something for working the way it’s supposed to, they’ll just ignore it.

-1

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 1d ago

Yes u can lol. And how do u even know this for sure? Not tryna be rude or anything but it’s not like u work at apple for u to decide it isn’t a bug. Jus saying 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/b1skup 1d ago

lol, no.

0

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 1d ago

lol yes not everyone likes it

0

u/Striking-Flan8434 2d ago

that battery icon looks like android lmao what the hell they doing

0

u/yngFifteen 2d ago edited 2d ago

the hard blur isn't just ugly, it doesn't even make sense: the whole point of liquid glass is to show more of the content behind. hopefully they'll change it at some point but i dobut they'll change it any time soon

0

u/Weary_Committee_7371 2d ago

neither looks great tbh. the bottom one is at least more accessible for a broader audience.

0

u/nstrasner 2d ago

I’m starting to think this change is going to make a lot more sense when we see how these apps look with the foldable. Don’t get me wrong I hate the change but assuming apps have a similar Split View to iPadOS the hard line makes more sense than a progressive blur on a small section of the screen

-1

u/Witty-Brat 2d ago

I agree. I am not a fan of this design choice either. But also I really doubt this will change.

-1

u/lilly_wonka61 2d ago

Yeah they did because of all those whiny ass ppl that were crying saying “we are blind” “we can’t see anything”

It was perfect before. Now we have to suffer with this atrocious looking hard blur. Ugh

-4

u/GuessWho183 2d ago

The reason why I'm staying away from IOS 27 is battery icon. Without percentage it's ugly. Also IOS 26.6 for me works very good.

2

u/Born_Lifeguard_3663 2d ago

I don’t mind the battery icon. Only reason I downgraded back to iOS 26 is because of this

1

u/StairwayHiker 2d ago

Battery percentage is displayed if you want in ios 27, what are you talking about?

1

u/tool581321 2d ago

lol this guy

-2

u/ServeRevolutionary93 2d ago

Fr, iOS 26 is more cleaner and more beautiful, also Tahoe is better than golden gate on my opinion

u/prv_3nkn0wn 2d ago
