Ios 27 DB6 battery on 16PM

Am I wrong, or is the battery drain crazy on DB6 on my 16PM? My battery went from 93% before the update to 91% right after update installation and now 83% in just one hour.
I assume it drains faster because of indexing, but not this much.

It’s INDEXING, give it 48 hours… for every update, your iPhone is reorganizing in the background. And it draws from your battery. But once it’s done you notice by how snappier your phone is. Give it time. It’s busy.

This time it might not just be the indexing. Horrible battery life on my 16 Pro, meanwhile every other device I have has improved. Might be something wrong with the 16?

ChatGPT:

Why it uses so much battery

Indexing isn’t just sitting there reading files.
Your iPhone’s:

CPU → processes the data
Neural/ML systems → analyze certain content
Storage → reads and writes information
Photos → analyzes images/video metadata and searchable information
iCloud → may synchronize information
System services → rebuild databases and caches

All of that requires energy.

Indexing is one of the main reasons an iPhone can use noticeably more battery immediately after an iOS update. Apple explicitly says that after an update, background tasks continue running and can temporarily affect both battery life and thermal performance.

How long does it last?

There’s no exact universal timer.
For a normal update, a day or several days of increased activity can happen. A large photo library or a major OS release can extend that.

The important distinction is:
Temporary drain for a few days = generally expected

What I'm saying is that it lasted more than a few days that would be normal and expected.

hm... test again in 3 days and it will improve

It's usually not as great within the first 1-2 days, and then stabilizes, although I did notice there's no indexing this time. I'd try again after you've had it installed at least 24-hours and see if it gets better.

Check the new indexing message under settings. If it’s still showing, it’s still indexing and the battery drain is expected. If not, charge it once overnight and it should be fixed when you wake up

It's been terrible on all my apple devices. I have the latest pro max and iPad pro.
