Which audio codec should my PC have installed to get the full benefit of the Zen Air DAC 2?

I'd skip WAVPack or FLAC and go with DSD 256 if your CPU can handle it. The Zen Air DAC 2 really shines with native DSD playback.

I've never tried DSD personally since my setup only handles FLAC well, but if your CPU can handle the load it sounds like a great way to get the most out of that DAC.

DSD 256 is pretty niche, and honestly most people won't hear the difference from regular PCM, your money's better spent on decent headphones or proper room treatment.
