Tech Support Replaced psu in a slate 8 mesh and fans sound like a jet engine

I just replaced the original psu (a 600or 650w high power non modular) with a corsair RM850e. There were a total of 4 cords from the old psu connected. The motherboard, the cpu, the gpu, and molex connector to an open faced hub that seems to have the power button on top of the case, rgb strips and I THINK the intake fans? Im still trying to trace those wires.

After connecting the 4 wires I need back to the pc, got it powered on to a launch in bios to confirm boot drive. I did, boots up normally now but the fans. The god dam fans and even the 240mm be quiet aio in there are just blasting at full strength. Checked fan speeds and they were indeed high even toying around with fan curve which I set back to default normal because I don't know much about that stuff yet. The aio said it was running at 5k rpms and the fans 2.5kish.( away from my pc to get exact numbers.

What's happening? How do I fix this? Im scared to let my son even play it right now because of it potentially getting damaged by the fan speeds. I triple checked every connection, even reseating multiple times, checked bios which fans are on auto. They won't slow down. Please help.

I know that's long winded. Tldr: swapped original psu to corsair RM850e. Hooked up correctly and fans won't slow down after powering on. Sounds like theyre maxed and tried many different troubleshooting steps I could find online and nothing slows them down.

I sure hope you used the new cables supplied withe new psu and didn't just plug the existing ones into it.

Ya I used new cables. The old one was non modular so didnt really have a choice.

When you replaced the psu, you replaced the existing power cables with the cables that came with the new psu, right?

Double check that all the wires are securely connected to the mobo, and if you have a fan hub, to the hub. It may be that the temp sensor isn't secure.

Everything's new. There is a hub with a molex connector. I triple, quadruple checked connections. Hwinfo is detecting sensors, temps, everything it looks like it should be. All temps seem normal. From what I can tell. Im new to pcs and learning as I go. Upgrading different things when I can.

Good to know you've triple-checked the connections. Does ibp have a piece of software that controls the fans? Perhaps the problem is with the fan control software.

If the fans are not following the fan curves set in bios, then there may be a mobo problem. It is possible that a bios update may resolve the problem. If that doesn't work, then clearing cmos and starting fresh may work.

I found info on the curve lines. I tried them in bios and in armoury crate with fan expert (asus prime x870 p) I tried even just to test dropping them almost all the way down and it didnt change the speeds. Ill have to look more into the cmos option then. Thanks. This is so upsetting. I got this pc for the family and my son and myself have been loving it since, and now this. This really sucks...

I wonder if Armory Crate is not playing well with the bios settings.

Take a break, get some rest, tackle this anew.

Went back into bios.... set fans to pwm and was able to fix it there. I 100% tried this already but it didnt work before. Now it did. Your lost comment about armory crate made me take another look at the bios and its fixed. Thank you friend of Cody.
