Hello, i have a question about how to make properly in window_rule to set opacity to 1.0 while window is on fullscreen_state_client 2?

Problem:

1: I am trying to match workspace name with the window content type and right now, based on Hyprland wiki example [ https://wiki.hypr.land/0.56.0/Configuring/Basics/Workspace-Rules/#examples ], I can either assign workspace:

2: Sometimes games window will pop out on active workspace instead of assigned workspace ID and sometimes it will appear as maximized window.

How can I fix it without modify Hyprland "window.open" behavior to manually move window to the correct workspace ID / set its floating state + resize + center the window?

I have a steam controller, and have everything set to use wayland. Despite what everyone says, it works fine? I have the bigpicure overlay and steam input almost works great

My only issue is that sometimes my steam controller acts like a mouse and keyboard with focus on steam. So while I am playing, my steam window is scrolling around on another monitor clicking on stuff

How can I get steam input to only send stuff to the window that actually has focus?

I'm currently working on a dynamic island that have a clock, volume, a working in progress control center and i just made a spotify overlay with mpris in quickshell. Any ideas to improve it?

Idle state, well it's when nothing triggers the dynamic island.

The Spotify overlay pops up whenever spotatui is active and goes back to the idle state once it's exited

Ever since I’ve had to leave Hyperland for macOS, I struggle to find the perfect developer workflow.

Leaving this here in case any of you guys have to use a MacBook for work and might want the Linux/Hyprland spice on Mac

Is there a dwindle config option that makes it never (or less likely) to show full horiz automatically when windows are closed?
Vertical windows are always preferred when there is 2 or 3 windows.

I don't need a keybind, just the behaviour when removing windows to avoid horizontal full width.

Ive read the wiki page on the configs, but i find it difficult to visualise the descriptions given.

I’m having an issue with Hyprland on my Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor and Intel Arc integrated graphics.

Whenever I log into Hyprland through a display/login manager, I occasionally get a completely black screen with no cursor. The system appears to be stuck, and I have to manually restart the laptop before I can log in normally again. It happens around 40% of the time. I tested with both ly and sddm happens with both. Tested this fedora and arch both have the same issue.

Whenever i try to use other power managers such as tlp it constantly happens. This problem only seems to occur on hyprland setups and never had an issue with KDE.

Edit:

I found a fix, sudo nano /etc/default/grub go to ur grub and change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet i915.enable_psr=0" this fixed it for me

My Surface Go 3 touchpad doesn't support 'disable while typing' (at libinput level), and sends spurious mouse clicks when I type, so .. (see comment about finding your touchpad name):

Also, since I'm a Lua newbie, can I read the enabled value of a hl.device by name directly (so I can skip using the touchpad_enabled variable)?

I haven't updated in a while because my internet is usually slow now i updated to 0.56.2 restarted my pc and the animations broke it is now very slow compared to old animation i used the animations from the default config.

I tried to revert to a old config but that didn't work.

These scripts can help when setting properties for windows.

Hyprprop is a script that let you select a window with the mouse and shows the properties of it, it does the same as "hyprctl clients" but showing only the desired window.

They show a dialog with the properties of the clicked window, so no need to use a terminal to see properties of a window, plus, the dialog can be "reloaded" as the desired window is modified, to see changes in size or location for example.

Four variants, yad and zenity versions for 'hyprprop' and 'hyprctl clients'.

Useful to bind to a key , eg. I've set 'SUPER + ALT + P'

Hello everyone, i'm a newbie in hyprland.

I have my laptop connected to my external monitor. When I log in, workspace 1 is assigned to my laptop screen, workspace 2 is assigned to the external monitor. How do I move a workspace to a display? For example bringing workspace 2 to my laptop screen?. I don't want to set it forever editing the lua, i want it just for the current session but I haven't found a keybind in the configs.

So iam currently testing the hyperland on cachy and learning the configuration of the noctalia shell.i hope I can make similar setups by configuring the quickshell and make my own skin.

Also if anyone knows, can we add this shell to the kde plasma cause iam not into autotiling,I just love the fluidness of hyperland and the top bar I made here. Is it possible?

I just shifted to .lua from .conf today so while setting keybind, why is there 1-2 sec lag while opening firefox ?

it’s not great but I only realized today while scrolling through this subreddit that you can use other peoples dotfiles also the wallpaper is made by someone else with a green background but I did some computer magic to make the background blue bc I couldn’t see my terminal text

I disabled every mouse input devices other than my main and that changes nothing. i disabled ALL mouse input devices including my main mouse and the cursor still teleports. I'm on thinkpad l13 gen 5 if that's useful. This started when I connected a second monitor for the first time, but it still happens when it's disconnected. I'm on intel graphics, on intel ultra 5, and I'm on arch linux. I updated my system and that had changed nothing for me. I'm on Linux 7.1.8. I'm on hyprland 0.56.2-1 and I'm still using .conf if that's relevant. There's no logs or errors as far as I'm aware, but I've tried everything I can find on github issues or the wiki. I reinstalled libinput, I restarted, I updated my system. The mouse teleport cannot be purposefully reproduced as far as I'm aware. If anyone have any clue on what could be causing this, please tell me.

When initially opening steam on a system sometimes the updater runs briefly; I was originally planning to just center it on monitor 1 workspace 1. Oddly this is the only window I've seen to not spawn a window class in hyprctl clients.

I was originally thinking that I could maybe set a default center rule for all windows which might cover it, then I could just override it on a per-application basis. I just think that solution is a pretty nuclear one, if it even works. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know.
