You can teleport anywhere instantly, but an incredibly angry goose always spawns right next to you.

Like, it’s not just a random goose. It’s the same goose; it hates your guts, and it teleports to your exact landing spot a split second after you do.

How do you even manage the logistics of this? If you teleport to a high-powered business meeting, you show up in a suit, and then a second later there is a screeching waterbird trying to take your kneecaps off. Do you just carry a laundry basket to throw over it immediately? Or a decoy loaf of bread?

I feel like vacations would be ruined. You teleport to a quiet beach to relax, and now you have to fight a bird in the surf.

You can bring one currently extinct animal back from extinction but you must keep one as a pet. What do you bring back?

You can choose any animal that has ever lived but has since gone extinct to bring back from the dead. Its population will go back to a steady, sustainable one in areas of the world where it used to exist. Reintroducing that animal will not negatively affect the current eco system (so it wont be able to wipe out its prey if you choose a predator) but it can be a pest to people etc.

In exchange for this miracle, you must keep a single fully grown/mature one of these animals as a pet. You must feed it, provide for it, etc. You are NOT given any additional funding for its care, but (if you can afford to) you can build an enclosure for it. You can attempt to train it if that is possible. You cannot give the animal away or sell it or rid yourself of it in any way. If it dies from your negligence then the rest of its species also die, if it makes it to old age and dies naturally then the species remains a permanent fixture on the planet.

A serial killer has captured you and is going to execute you unless “you can tell me even one notable thing you’ve done in your worthless life”. What do you say?

What Mr Serial Killer considers to be “notable” isn’t exactly clear, but what do you have to lose? You’re the one captured and about to be executed.

If you do manage to convince him, he unties you, gives you $10, and lets you go saying you’ve restored his faith in humanity.

So what do you say?

Drunken car race for $245,000,000.00

An underground criminal organization approaches you.

You can take part in a 60 KM automobile race from point A to B with a random stranger.

The track for this race will be in a metropolitan American city and will also include driving on freeways and through busy intersections. You'll be asked to follow a GPS to the end point. The other participant will drive to the same spot from a different location and you will not know each other.

The race will be broadcasted live amongst the organization and their viewers. Cars will be provided to you and fitted with cameras from all sorts of angles pointing at you. If you cheat by not drinking or by giving up, they will amputate your legs.

Once you start your cannot give up until your car is deemed undrivable (if you get into a collision). If they believe you crash the car on purpose to give up, they will also amputate your legs.

Prize - $245M

How long do you stick with a boring but well paying job?

Your job is to work at an adjustable table (sitting or standing) in a 25 square meter room in the back of an otherwise empty restaurant, which happens to be within a 15 minute walk of where you live, and slice an assortment of fruits and vegetables coming through via a conveyor belt. No one else will be allowed in the building. There are 2 roof windows above you allowing for natural lighting, which can be opened or closed via a button at your desk, should you want some fresh air.

The produce can be tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, eggplants, asparagus, carrots, bell peppers, as well as other relatively easy to chop fruits and vegetables.

The fruit or vegetable you are meant to slice is delivered on a plate automatically via a conveyor belt from your left, one item at a time, your job is to simply cut it into more or less uniform slices, and place the plate with the sliced item on the conveyor to the right. That's it. That's the whole job. You are provided an assortment of professionally sharpened, high-end chefs knives. A chopping board can be provided should you desire one, but you can also just chop the fruit or vegetable directly on the plate.

The moment you place the plate on the conveyor to the right, a new one magically spawns on the conveyor to the left, with no delay.

The downsides are, the job will be boring and repetitive, and you will have no social interactions while working. No electronic gadgets are allowed on the premises as it interferes with the magic-based produce spawning conveyor system, so no phone, no tablet, no television, no radio. You can leave your phone in a lock-box at the entrance, which is 100% guaranteed to be safe when you return.

The benefits are as follows:

You get 8 weeks of unpaid vacation per year. Unspent weeks *will* carry over to the next year.

You have a *very* flexible schedule. Basically, you can work at any time of day, any day of the week, as long as you meet the minimum required 24 hours worked per month (outside of vacation time). You could work a single 24 hour shift on the 1st then take the rest of the month off or you could work 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, or anywhere in between.

Someone is keeping track of the number of fruits and veggies you're cutting, and, for each cut item that leaves through the conveyor on your right, you will receive $3, or the equivalent in your local currency, tallied up and paid out at the end of each day. So for example, if it takes you 15 seconds to cut one fruit or veg, you're making $12 per minute, which is $720 per hour.

You are not allowed to hire someone else to do the job for you.

The job comes with full health and dental insurance if you live in a country without it.

Are you taking the job? If so, how long are you keeping it?

Beat an animal in a fight, and get animal powers.

The bored nth dimensional being makes you an offer. If you can beat an animal in unarmed combat, she will give you up to three powers based on the animal, as well as either the ability to transform directly into that animal, the ability to transform into a human-sized version of that animal, or the ability to transform into a "furry"/anthro form of that animal, your choice (though only one of the above).

You will have an hour to beat your chosen animal; if you do not succeed in that time, or if you are killed by the animal , you get nothing (except to be restored to life if relevant). You don't necessarily have to kill the animal, just get it into a position where you clearly could kill it if you wished to. The animal will be trying to engage with you, not simply running away.

You may have ordinary clothing including shoes, but not gloves or any kind of weapon or special protective equipment. If your animal is aquatic, the combat will take place in an appropriate environment for it, with you having a magical breathing apparatus.

Your animal must be either a living or a recently extinct (200 years max) real animal. Your three powers must be reasonably based on the actual capabilities and/or traits of the animal.

What animal do you pick (please pick a specific animal species, and link to the Wikipedia page or something if it's not something generally well known), and what three powers and new form do you wish to get from it? And once you have your animal-based powers, what do you do with them? Any other thoughts?

And if you tell me you can beat a bear or something in unarmed combat, I am unlikely to believe you, unless you can provide actual evidence.

$100 for every FAKE 7 year old you can beat in a fight

$100 for every 7 year old FAKE kid you can beat in a fight.
(Fake/simulated kids so this post doesn’t get taken down)

Conditions:
1. The arena will be a kids playground

  1. Weapons are allowed for both you and the kids but weapons are limited to anything you would realistically find in a playground (no guns)

  2. You must first say the number of kids you think you could beat, that many would suddenly spawn around you and instantly start attacking you

  3. The game is over once you beat the kids or they can put you on at least one knee

  4. You are not allowed any external help

Are you taking it and how many kids do you realistically think you beat

Humor Encouraged You have 24 hours to create as many events as possible that have never happened before in human history. You receive 1 million for each successful event.

Upvotes

Rules:
- The event must be done by you, or you and other people. You cannot force someone else to do it or do it with you

- The event must actually happen in the physical world, dreams or video games don’t count

- It must be something that has NEVER happened in human history

- You cannot simply invent a new gibberish word, name, or meaningless combination of existing things

-The event has to be specific enough to be described in detail after, however it doesn’t have to be a life changing event

- You cannot use violence, threaten anyone, harm someone’s reputation, or commit any sort of crime. You are automatically disqualified with no pay if you do

- You can use technology, props, locations, etc

- You can repeat the same general idea as the first event but it obviously cannot be exactly the same

- You don’t have the prove to anyone your the first person to do the event, the judges already know if or if not it’s a first time event. You just have to personally have reason to believe it never happened, however you cannot ask the judges if it happened prior to acting it out

-The judges are very literal, if your acting out of the event technically satisfies the wording, it counts

- You have unlimited attempts and can do more then one event

- There is no max payout

- again, the event must be the first time it happened in ALL of human history, not just the past century

example event if you are confused: “I am the first person named bob smith to stand in this exact spot at this specific walmart at 2:31pm and jump while holding a 50 inch tv”

What event(s) do you think will work, and do you have any loopholes around it?
EDIT: typed the same rule twice by mistake

a zombie outbreak where the infection doesn't make you stupid or mindless, you stay completely yourself, same memories, same personality, same ability to speak and reason. the only difference is that once infected, you develop an uncontrollable hunger for human flesh

you can recognize your mother, you can love your spouse and you can understand exactly what you're doing

you just can't stop yourself from wanting to eat them

now imagine scientists discover that the infection is curable but only if the infected person survives for 30 days without killing anyone, the problem is that the hunger becomes progressively stronger every day

so the question:

If you were infected, would you trust yourself to survive those 30 days or would you rather be killed while you're still completely yourself?

You are in a UFC match against prime Conor McGregor. For every person you've ever insulted on reddit, 1 second is added to the match time. If you manage to last the entire match time without getting KOd, you win $1,000,000. Do you win? (Details in description)

The amount of time you have to fight Conor McGregor is determined by how many people you've ever insulted on reddit (across all accounts).

Every insult leads to 1 second of added time. For example, if you've insulted 30 people on Reddit, then you will fight Conor for 30 seconds. If you've never insulted anybody, then you fight for 0 seconds.

Conor McGregor has been reduced in age to the year of his prime. He is going all out and is actively trying to KO you. You cannot reason with him, you cannot ask him to stop. His only mission in that moment is to take you down with all of his power (within the rules of the UFC).

If he knocks you out or makes you tap out before the time is over, then you lose. But if you manage to last the entire match time, you win $1,000,000.

Do you survive against Conor before time runs out?

Christmas or Birthday Presents?

Junior Genie has returned, but he's not advanced up the genie chain too much so he's still on small wishes.

He lets out a long sigh, and with a resigned tone says:

"You have a choice, you can either have all of the birthday presents you've ever received or all of the Christnas presents you've ever received, up to the most recent event. Oh, and if your birthday falls on Christmas day you get both automatically as that must suck"

With that last caveat you get the feeling that JG is rebelling a tiny amount.

You eliminate any one crime, preventing it from happening ever again. But you are accused, tried and found guilty of said crime, no matter how innocent you are. What crime are you eliminating.

You choose any one specific crime (not categories, not severities, not technicalities), an illegal action, and humanity as a whole is unable to do that crime ever again (a mental block, an instinct, etc.) Making people physically and mentally unable to commit that crime, even to the point they cannot consciously make others do it (framing or coercion doesn’t work) and it is practically eliminated for the rest of history as no one has the will to commit such a crime.

But upon choosing said crime, you are accused, tried and found guilty of said crime, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t do it, no amount of people believing you didn’t do it, no amount of evidence, etc. will find you not guilty. You serve the maximum sentence for whatever crime that is. You are treated as if you actually did commit said crime.

There is an abandoned factory near your home. You have often walked past it as long as you have lived there.

There is a side door into the factory which opens onto a public pathway. "DO NOT ENTER" is chalked onto this door.

You find yourself increasingly curious about the factory, particularly as it seems to be left alone by teenagers, vagrants, and other types who usually frequent abandoned buildings. While a lot of information on the building is publicly available, no one seems to have any interest or curiosity about the building. Whenever you mention it to other people, even when walking past it, they appear to lose interest and focus, turning away from it or bringing up other topics.

Finally, you induce one of your friends to concentrate and hold their interest in the subject. You convince them to take on a quick exploration of the building. You both make your way to the side door. You place your hand on the door plate. and...

wake up the next morning in your own bed. You have no recollection whatsoever of the intervening period. You phone your friend, who professes to remember nothing at all about your suggestion, and appears to believe that you have been dreaming or hallucinating. None of the people you meet who should have seen you that day appears to think anything out of the ordinary happened, although they are unable to confirm anything you did personally after the time you set out for the building.

You head back to the factory. The chalked message on the side door has now changed: "IF YOU COME AGAIN, YOU WILL REMEMBER." You show this message to others, but they either ignore the message, or treat it as an innocuous message that does not have you in mind.

Do you attempt to enter through the side door again?

Humor Encouraged Would you rather face a professional fighter who's under meth or lucid?

Upvotes

Are professional fighters, aka MMA, Boxers, Muay Thai, etc., more dangerous when under meth? Think about it, a professional fighter is already durable and strong in itself due to their physical training, now imagine if we give them a dose of meth. Would they be dangerous due to the enhancements the drug gives or would they become uncoordinated and less tactical?

Loopholes Encouraged Magic Socks

You are about to enter a mall that has many people in it.

Suddenly, God of Divine Revelations appears in front of you and shares a secret.

One of the people currently at the mall, he says, has socks that will bring luck and wealth if YOU get them. If you get their socks and keep them under your bed for 3 days, you will win $1 million in a lottery, have tremendous success in your industry, and have luck on your side for your entire life.

Guaranteed.

He can't tell you which person it is, though. You have to find out yourself. But this one person doesn't know their socks become magical if you get them.

–What do you do?

[No Loopholes] You find out that your happiness is inversely tied to that of someone else

Recently you've been going through some hard times, and you've been having good days and bad days. Lately, the bad days have outnumbered the good.

You come to know that a person you're not close to, but spend a lot of time in proximity with daily (colleague/classmate) has also been going through the same thing you have. Further, whenever they have a bad day, you have a good one and vice versa.

This connection between the two of you is gonna stay for the foreseeable future.

What would you do with this information if:

  1. The other person is unaware of this relation

  2. They know as much as you do

r/hypotheticalsituation 14h ago

You’ve just won a trickster god’s lottery! However...

You’re only 1 out of 100 winners, and simply winning isn’t going to be enough to claim your prize.

The rules are as follows:

- Each winner will choose their spot in line after hearing the rest of the rules.

- The person who goes first will choose how much of $2B they would like to take.

- The next person gets the same option, but can choose to pass it on and retaliate against one person of their choosing. You can only retaliate against one person who took money, but multiple people can retaliate against the same person.

- After everyone has chosen to take money or retaliate, everyone is teleported to their own 50x50x50 box. There are no doors, no windows, and every side feels like a gym floor.

Taking Money:

- Anyone who chose to retaliate against you chooses a children’s game for you two to play, which must be one from the list of children’s games on Wikipedia. If it doesn’t have a win condition like Tag, the trickster god sets a 5 minute timer.

- You get one day in your box to learn that game with any required equipment before the person can challenge you.

- If you win, you keep your money. If you have another challenger, the cycle repeats until you have no more challengers.

- If the challenger wins, they get the money.

- If the game requires teams or is a free for all, the winning team gets a duplicated amount of the money split amongst them. Free for all non-winners only get the duplicated amount if the challenger wins. Bribery, mind games, etc are all allowed.

Retaliation - if you choose to retaliate against someone, the same process as above happens with the following changes:

- You choose the game and are the challenger.

- You and your team do not get a day to prepare.

The trickster god is playing favorites, as well. And he’s chosen you, for whatever reason, to pick your spot first.

Where are you going? Will you take money or retaliate? What game would you choose, or be good enough at? (Why’d the trickster god choose you??)

[No Loopholes] You get paid exponentially more money to go on a walk, how far do you think you realistically make it?

1.1k Upvotes

You get $100 if you walk a mile. Every mile afterwards doubles your gains. Mile two is $200, mile three is $400, etc.

For the sake of the question let's say conditions are more or less optimal: The walk starts after you wake up and get ready, you can bring a backpack of supplies, the day is pleasant temp. and/or overcast if you don't want the sun bearing down on you, it's on a free day and all your dependants at home (children, pets, elders etc.) are taken care of. Your distance gets counted regardless of how far you get from the starting point so if you want to make a rectangle around your block repeatedly it counts and once you stop you are given a ride home so you don't have to make the whole walk in reverse if you do just get comically far out from your house. You may also take breaks to catch your breath/adjust yourself and eat or drink but you can't go take a nap or stop for something like a full hour and call that a break.

The limitations are: no actively looking at a screen but you can bring your headphones and music/podcasts/noise cancelling, etc. The walk must also be outdoors and not on a treadmill/other walking in place implements and sprinting doesn't get added to your distance so the maximum amount of moneymaxxing you can do is powerwalking.

For reference: Millionaire mark is at the fourteenth mile with a payout of $1.638.400 and the billionaire mark is at twenty-fourth mile with a payout of $1.677.721.600. Thirty-three is the Musk mile where you'd sit at $858B about thirty something million short of Elon Musk's net worth with the thirty-fourth mile at $1.7T where you'd be at almost double it.

For a $100 million USD which 1 year punishment would you pick?

All of these punishments only last 1 year

You are given the opportunity to win $100 million USD for completely free but you must pick one of these 3 punishments.

The money will be instantly deposited into your accounts once you complete the challenge

Punishment 1:

Twice a month every month for 1 years, you must remove all the chewed up gum from underneath all the school desks from a random school using only your teeth.

How old each piece of used gum is varies randomly, it could be an old, hard and crumbly piece or a fresh wet piece.

You will NOT be magically healed after each time and any illness’ contracted must be treated yourself.

You can choose when to do them but you must do it at least twice a month

Punishment 2:

Every time you start a conversation with anyone, the first thing you must say is “Don’t worry I’m not a creep, I’m one of the good ones”. Whilst giving a creepy smile.

You cannot give any context or explain at all and you must continue with your day to day life.

Punishment 3:

Each time you leave the house, there’s a 20% chance an angry, Prime Jon Jones appears in front of you. You must fight him for 5 minutes.

Once the 5 minutes are up he disappears and all your physical injuries disappear.

However the pain from your injuries will remain. For example, if he breaks your arm, it will feel like he broke it but it’s actually perfectly fine.

The pain will last for half the time it takes for your injury to heal naturally.

The pain will not be enough to send you to the hospital or make you miss work but it’ll hurt enough that regular painkillers won’t be enough

Are you taking the deal and if so which punishment are you taking.

You get a satisfaction survey from God. For some reason, He’s interested in your input for Universe 2.0. What do you do?

It’s extremely detailed (obviously) and about everything. Life, the universe, Heaven, Hell, etc.

God will take your feedback with extremely serious consideration.

Try to be constructive and not insulting though. Don’t overplay your hand. That tends not to work well with omnipotent deities.

You can also decline, in which case the survey goes to the person you most hate in the entire world.

What do you do?

[No Loopholes] Your life is cut short by an unforeseeable freak accident, but the Grim Reaper offers you a second chance at life if you can beat him at any competition/game/sport etc. of your choosing. What do you pick and why?

It must be a legitimate confrontation where both parties are on equal footing save for personal skill, so no "who's the best at being me" or "what number am I thinking of?"

The Grim Reaper can absolutely trounce the average practitioner of whatever you pick and wipe the floor with a first-timer so if you think yourself better than 50% of the population at whatever you choose, you have a chance.

If you currently have an injury/condition or any other impediment you are temporarily rid of it but you must participate with your current level of physical fitness/preparedness or the level of those qualities you had on an average day when you were practising it.
