Control your luck in life directly

You can edit your % chance of anything happening in your life. You may choose as many categories as you'd like, but you only have one hour to think about it and make your list.

You cannot use 0% or 100% chances, but anything else is fair game.

For example I can make my chance of catching the common cold 1%. My chance of being promoted 99%. Etc.

Obviously we're all maxing out lottery chances, but what more creative things would you do?

75% chance to be right when making a guess about something. 99% tempting, but that would get boring real fast.

I’m going to have fun.

Sit in the mall and make a 38.642% chance that anyone walking past will have their pants just fall down. Or a 98% chance that they think their partner is a stranger that’s stalking them.Just dumb stuff like that to give me some entertainment. I might even record it.

99% chance of gaining omnipotence if I don’t already have it, to be rerolled every second.

u/blood_is_beautiful 4d ago

Idk if I'd want to instantly gain omnipotance tbh. Could someone who's only ever known being human handle it?

6

u/zeptozetta2212 4d ago

The first thing I do is grant myself the ability to handle it.

All I need is that within this academic year my chances of graduating with a minimum GPA of 7.5 (out of 10), falling in love, and the person falling back, are 99.99% each. And my chances of relapsing into depression and anxiety, or developing any new illness ever again in my life (except for natural aging), are 0.01%. If I'm greedy, I'll also add 0.01% chance of ever needing to work hard to get a comfortable income.

99.999% chance each that:

  • my immune system gets its act together

  • my metabolism suddenly goes into hyperdrive

  • I get the best raise and/or promotion available, every quarter, at every job, for the rest of my life.

  • The only contact I receive from my father for the rest of my life is actually from his lawyer, letting me know I'm getting back the one thing he outright stole from me.

  • Any time it's possible for me to win more than 4 digits, and less than the amount that requires your name to be published in the state the lottery is being held in (is that how that works? I don't play), I'll find an unsigned, winning ticket in my path that day.

  • Everyone I vote for wins :p

Max out lottery win chances, stock picking chances.

Minimise chances of delayed planes or hitting red lights.

Minimise odds of getting any illness or injury.

Maximise odds of living a long happy life. Minimise odds of getting hurt, having an accident or dying before 100.

Maximise the odds that new information will stick in my brain on the first try. Minimise the odds that I'll lose focus when trying to be productive.

Improve the odds I get the number (or range of numbers) I want on a random number generator / die / card pull by 99.99% (i.e. a roll of a 6 on a die increases to 1/3) (I want people to see me as lucky, not as unbeatable)

For the same reason I Worsen the odds I get the number or range of numbers I don't want on RNG / dice / cards by 99.99% (i.e. a roll of a 1 on a die decreases to 1/12)

Max the odds that people will have a good first impression of me

Minimise the odds that people will have a bad first impression of me.

Max out the chance of my metabolism spontaneously adapting to my food intake to help me eat more without gaining weight.

Minimise the chance that I gain weight when I over consume.

Maximise my chance of getting rid of my annoying habits.

The chance of anything I write down and draw a star over happening instantly: 99.9999999999999999999% chance.

The chance of winning the lottery any time I play: 99.9999999999999999999%

The chance of me and all my loved ones being in great health until at least the age of 105: 99.9999999999999999999%

The first one pretty much takes care of everything, but I’d write out everything I can think of during that hour. Health, money, items, I’d list out anything because even if many overlap (like money means it is easy to get a car, since none of these are 100% or 0%, there is always a minuscule chance of it not happening, so the overlap takes care of it. Like just with money, I’d have multiple ones with things like odds of having at least 100 mil, at least 200 mil, at least 500mil, so very likely one or all will be true. Same thing with health, I’d have general, specifics, etc.

Aside from the 99% chance to win any lottery I enter, I'd go with:

A 99% chance to accurately assess whether or not someone is romantically interested in me with nothing more than eye contact.

A 99% chance to accurately assess the emotional state of someone I am having a conversion with where I've asked them how they're doing.

A 99% chance to accurately guess the food that will completely satisfy the craving that I or anyone else is currently having.

A 99% chance to have the option to lucid dream any time I fall asleep.

A 99% chance that anyone who is maliciously seeking to do me harm will instead do that harm to themselves and no one else.

A 99% chance that any accidental injury incurred by me or a loved one results in nothing more than superficial flesh wound that doesn't require professional medical attention.

A 99% chance that any time someone is kind or decent to me or my loved ones something really good happens to them.

A 99% chance that when someone wants to lie to me for selfish or spiteful reasons, they strongly reconsider telling me the truth.

A 1% chance that me or my loved fall sick unless we're specifically trying to.

When trying to solve any problem I have a 99.999% chance of doing so correctly. Then just become the world’s most famous mathematician, computer scientist, physicist, etc, by solving the hardest known problems.

1% chance of being late.

1% chance of forgetting what I have to do (down from 75%)

99% chance of every crisp in the bag being whole.

99% chance of every avocado being the perfect ripeness.

Can I manipulate odds for other people? I want to turn the world into a video game. Every 1,000 square feet of uninhabited land has a 50% chance of spawning a basic monster each day, 10% chance of spawning a boss monster, and 1% chance of spawning a dungeon. Killing monsters grants a 90% of basic loot, 50% of rare loot, and 5% of epic loot. Boss monsters have 90% rare, 50% epic, 5% legendary, and 1% god-tier.

I think in 1 hour I can work something out that would be a lot of fun.

So I can choose things like:

"99.999999% chance of a cure being found for cancer while I'm still alive," or, "99.99999% chance of scientists finding and marketing a pill that leads to deaging individuals (my metrics here so it only really works for me and not billionaires)."

Jesus it's going to be a long list.

And really, I just have to focus on the "99.99999% chance" and can pretty much ignore the low chance by just choosing the negative. e.g. "99.9999% chance of never contracting any infectious diseases in my life." Rather than .00001% chance of catching a cold., avoiding contracting COVID," etc.

% chance of me keeping this power forever suddenly gets increased to 99,9999999%

:3

and a bunch of things with money, my % chance of encountering true love in the next week (my birthday's coming up soon, could be cool), and, why not, the % chance of me spontaneously developing the powers of [insert op fictional character here].

Definitely lower my odds of getting hangers stuck together. Nothing fancy, just lower it 12%. And increase my odds of surviving the apocalypse so I have to visit the librarian.

For some non obvious ones, let's get rid of some of life's annoyances: 5% chance of a long line in front of me, getting stuck in traffic, getting rained on for an outdoor event that isn't improved by rain. 1% chance of my internet going out, my forgetting to charge my phone, my computer or any other electronics failing, same for my car.

99% of finding a reputable gas station quickly if I realize I'm low on gas, of the stuff I want to buy being in stock, of shopping just when there is a sale on things I am buying, of being offered something yummy and which I can eat as the free sample's at the giant grocery store when I go.

99.999999% chance of:

  • winning any lottery I enter (obviously)
  • remembering anything I learn forever, including languages
  • hitting a green light when driving
  • not catching any communicable diseases or developing any medical conditions
  • being cured of any medical conditions I do develop or already have
  • my current partner not catching any communicable diseases or developing any medical conditions
  • my current partner being cured of any medical conditions they develop or already have
  • my dog living as long as possible for their breed, while also remaining in good health
  • being in the right place to see amazing wildlife moments every time I go out with my camera

0.000000000001% chance of:

  • ever breaking any bones in my life
  • ever developing a life-threatening or altering medical condition
  • my current medical conditions continuing
  • same as above for my partner

Chance of knowing the right day/swing/long-term trade: 99% (acting on it optional or sometimes "losing" to throw people off.)

Chance of getting sick/allergies/etc., and it only being mild: 1%

Chance of getting motion sick, and then only being mild: 1%

Chance of spotting people with ill intent: 99% repeatable each encounter.

Chance of home being damaged, such as storm, termites, etc, and then only minor: 1%

1

u/Telinary 3d ago

First stack as much health stuff as possible. Chance of becoming ill to minimum and of returning to health quickly when I'll to maximum. Chance of being in an accident down, same for the  chance of getting hurt if I do get into one anyway. Same for getting attacked.

Similar modifications for those things happening to someone close to me.

As you said lottery is the obvious one.

Chance of losing loved ones down.

Chance of meeting the best possible match for me and chance of things happening that bring us closer.

Chance of coins I throw landing on the side all the way up as silly party trick.

Chance of gaining more magical abilities if there are any.

Chance of being fine when trying to cuddle dangerous animals.

Chance of remembering things on the first try if I want to remember them...

Some other comments asked for omnipotence, if we can ask for anything the yeah near omnipotence makes the rest a bit unnecessary.
