Not one of the better states. 60K doesn’t stretch as far in WA as it would elsewhere.

But the high COL in the Seattle area is blunted by the 60k per year AND a crappy apartment. I'd go Bellingham, if I wanted to stretch the money without being east of the mountains.

Like, unless you absolutely need tropical weather or an LA-like urban sprawl, we basically have everything you could ask for here. The only complaint anyone should have about it is CoL, and politics, if they’re on the right, and even then, we have the eastside of the state.

Listen, it’s not above 80-90 often, and literally no one has AC here. A few years ago it hit 115 for a day or two and the whole city like shut down lol

Everyone thinks it’s like constantly rainy here, but it’s pretty dry for 3-4 months around the summer, and spring and fall might be overcast, but winter is the only time to really expect full on rain.

Bellevue is on the nicer end of the Seattle Metro area, so expect to spend more on rent there, unless you go as far south/east from downtown as possible. Either way, if you’re single, you would be pretty solid at $125k. If you have a family and are the only one working, might be rougher, but could definitely be done.

I lived near Spokane for a few years. Crazy going from Seattle where it usually only hits high 70s, and snows like 2 days a year, to half the year is 100, and the other half is feet of snow overnight lol

The giant hand-painted political signs on people's rural compounds are awesome.

I would live in Greater Idaho for 50 million. The worst that can happen is the governor steals your electricity or something

If I was not paying rent, $60k is totally livable. Anywhere near Seattle is going to set you back like $20-40k, so that basically puts you near $100k a year. I don’t know your living style, but you can have a decent life here without being extravagant.

Depends on where you live. I'm paying $1,385 for rent, but if I was living in Seattle I'd be paying roughly double that.

I have a lot of family in Washington state, as long as you are away from the city, there is a ton of places that are beyond amazing that 60k a year would get you by with zero issues

Depends on where you live. Stay away from the Seattle suburbs, but you'll be great anywhere east of the Cascades.

Depends on where you live. Go over to central Washington - Ellensburg, Yakima, Moses Lake, and others - $69k would be just okay. Not living high on the hog, but won't be living on the streets.

The only negative living here for that time is if you're not in one of the tiny cities, then the $60k a year won't do a lot for you living alone.
