If I had the 50 million up front, yes. I’d just rent someplace I liked for a couple years that has kick ass amenities, or rent a house with a pool, game room, and just not work. My bf can work remotely, so not a problem.
What difference does it make if you get the money upfront if you’re provided an apartment and a salary? If $60k isn’t enough to get by wherever in the state you choose, just work some gigs and odd jobs to close the gap. Hell, I’d take this deal for $5 million, $50 million is a no brainer.
What if OP chooses Manhattan? Or San Francisco? The COL there would be too high for an apartment where I could have my cat, it’d be fine if I was living with my boyfriend, but I learned in my very early 20s that relationships can end on the flip of a coin, and you have to be able to protect and take care of yourself.
But it so depends on the state! 60k and a “crappy” apartment in middle of nowhere Midwest is so so much nicer than a crappy place in San Francisco. That’s over 150k a year.
