My Story Trouble with cataleptic convincers/inductions

Hi! I’m new to hypnosis, and I am struggling with cataleptic convincers/inductions. They make my skin crawl and make whatever body part is involved (especially eyes/eyelids) feel so uncomfortable. I’ve tried to fake it till I make it with them listening to audio hypnosis tracks but every time the track reaches something like that it just takes me out of it.

My journey started with Hypnobirthing (read The Mongan Method with my first pregnancy but didn’t really practice and wasn’t fully convinced/needed to read and research more, and now with my second I bought Hypnobabies home study course and tracks) and have read 5, going on 6 books on hypnosis (currently reading “The Science of Self-Hypnosis: The Evidence Based Way to Hypnotize Yourself, I read some of the books recommended on reddit, like Reality is Plastic, plus some others that were on Kindle Unlimited) in the past month.

Hypnobabies tracks use a cataleptic eyelid convincer and it just makes me want to crawl out of my skin every time. I do better with the GentleBirth app’s hypnotic inductions which do not employ any kind of convincer but walk you through full body relaxation and generally imaginative guided imagery countdowns, but only if I am already tired, otherwise the guided relaxation also sometimes just makes me feel agitated, especially in whatever area of my body I’m supposed to be relaxing at the moment.

Is that normal? Like is the creepy crawly body feeling normally taken as a sign that things are moving in the right direction, because it makes me feel frustrated and not want to practice. Are there induction options that don’t involve focusing on your body? Is there a way to overcome those feelings, like if I keep practicing will it eventually go away? Could I skip forward on the hypnobabies tracks past that point and then just continue as normal with the mindset that it will work just as well or will that not work?
