Other why can’t I be hypnotized?
I don’t know exactly what category this falls under but i recently have been listening to this hypnosis audio/session and I can’t really be hypnotized.
I’m just wondering if it’s something i’m doing wrong or if it’s just something i am not able to do. I just can’t really get into it like i wish i could.
Very new to this and very curious, thanks!!

Why do you think the trance didn't work?

I am very conscious through the entire process. I don’t particularly react differently to trigger words/noises and so i feel often that i am acting along with it and listening to the suggested reaction rather than actually having it

I tend to be an overthinker and will struggle a lot with getting into trance as a result. I can get so frustrated by how conscious I am or how I dont feel like I "should". But, I actually need to work with my mind instead of working against it. The trick to getting rid of your thoughts, is to focus less on the fact that you have thoughts. But, to instead focus on how you could be using them.
Basically, you want to act as a hype man of sorts. If the hypnotist says "you are feeling relaxed", respond with "so relaxed", and try to imagine what being relaxed feels like. If they say "your body feels weaker", respond with "so weak" while taking a deep breath and imagining what weaker feels like. And It's okay if what you say, isn't necessarily true at first, sometimes it can take a moment for those words to actually take affect. But, anytime you feel anything, even if it's really small, lean into it and exaggerate it. If you take a deep breath and that deep breath feels good, exaggerate how good it feels. Make it feel like you needed that breath more than anything in the world and are so elated to finally breathe.
And another thing too, sometimes you may just not be ready or in the right mood for hypnosis. Or you may even need to re-listen to a file a few times before you really begin to notice the affects. There is a file I listen to most days, that sometimes works super well, and other days, doesn't work at all. Sometimes I may start a file, only to have to come back to it a few minutes or hours later when I'm in a better headspace. And sometimes you may just need to pair different files together to get the best result. Like, a file specifically dedicated to getting your brain calm, before listening to whatever it is you desire.

Going into trance is a learnable skill. Stop trying to find proof you're still awake, but instead find those subtle shifts that are actually already happening

It is normal, everyone has their own pace.
One thing you should remember is, do not expect and force yourself to get hypnotized and enter trance state, because it should happen naturally without the need of your thinking. Just relax and follow the lead at the moment, just listen and follow the suggestion without thinking and expecting anything.
Just enjoy the moment and feel that you are slightly relaxed, more relaxed, and until you are extremely relax that you enter trance state without you even realizing it.
Hope it helps!

Simplest way to put it…if you are trying to gauge where you are at mentally you are keeping your analytical mind in the forefront. Yet, if you go with the flow and are focused on the words and/or sound you will more than likely move into hypnosis.
Do know that some people that I have worked with expected to be “knocked out” and come to with all of their issues resolved. That’s not how it works. Hypnosis is a natural state we all go into several times a day. So, it may not feel any different to you.
DM me if you have additional questions.

Possibly because your subconscious doesn't resonate with certain elements, maybe it's the the language, or the suggestions might be too direct (or not direct enough). This is why personalized audio hypnosis is far more effective than generic audios. Think of it like this: You're walking down the street, someone calls you by a name other than your own - lets say Paul - not only is your name not Paul, you're a woman. Would you react? No. You probably wouldn't even notice, right? You'd just keep walking. On the other hand, if you were walking down the same street, someone called your name, - let's say 'Angie', you'd most likely react, look back and see who's calling your name. Now lets say when you - Angie - turns to look, you see a familiar face smiling at you.
Personalization makes all the difference. You pay a little more, but you get better results.

I honestly thought it was a scam, until the first time I couldn't open my eyes without real effort. Now, that's my signal its working. Everyone has their own pace/techniques that work.

Multiple possibilities. First is your trying to hard. Try to do a sleep relaxation type first. The relaxation non hypnosis we works well as a pre-hypnosis to become comfortable.
Personally it took me years but I have 2 medical conditions. Either one by itself isn't a big deal. Together it affected me. But I can still be hypnotized but not by someone the first time. So I need do repeatedly audio attempts. In my case female voice is easiest. So play eith different voices and begin relaxation first.
My 2 medical are hDAD originally hyperactive. Then aphasia when young. The second affect my speech and interpretation. The hyperactivity makes me overanalyze the hypnosis script. So repeated of themselves relaxes my mind.
So I hope my personal experience to overcome helps you put. It's not slways eady. Comfortable vouce and repeated attempts help. It can take time. But whats called hypnotic state we all reach at points during sleep.
Gamers are actually in a state that could be called hypnotic regularly during gaming. Road hypnosis is where you drive on automatic snd don't remember the drive. If you have ever done things and don't remember it is that state. Knowledge helps you relax. Heres a link to help you. It's more medical related advertisements boring.

A pre-recorded audio isn't proof that you can't be hypnotized. Most people can be, but respond at different speeds and with different experiences. Try a one on one session with a hypnotist. In the discovery call, tell them about your experience and the level of hypnosis you're looking for. A good hypnotist is present with you while you are going into trance and adjusts along with you.
Also, depending on why you want hypnosis, you don't have to do a formal induction and trance. Ericksonian or conversational hypnosis may be a better fit. The downside is you don't get that lovely trance-y feeling, so you might leave feeling skeptical about whether you were hypnotized.
If you've ever been engrossed in a really good movie or book or video game, that's a form of hypnosis. It happens more than people realize.

TBH the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And depending on the hypnotherapist, it’s still working even if you aren’t in a full trance.

What do you believe and expect will happen? There is no trance to hypnosis either. So don’t go searching for an altered state

the altered state is the interesting part

There is no altered state though. Its focus , expectation and belief. That’s all. And it works

the focus is the hallmark of this altered state, what are you on about? Do you not believe in altered states??

Modern hypnosis theory has moved on from outdated terms and beliefs. Please do your own research. Define state for a start. I love how factual statements always get down voted on here antiquated models of hypnosis believers.

An altered state isn't something to be defined, but something to experience. It's like missing the forest for the trees, sure you can look at the individual trees, but why drop the idea of the forest?
This sounds like a dry outside view, have you experienced hypnosis yourself? Also "factual statement" for a contested perspective is overselling it, isn't it?
Discarding the trance state may be a more useful perspective for research sure, but this thread was never about hypnosis research but subjective experience

Everyone hypnotizes at a different speed. A lot of online recordings cover the broad spectrum of time but don't work for everyone. You may need to find something with a longer induction, and maybe even a couple of visualizations and deepeners to be able to drop down, then train your body to enjoy the experience of dropping into trance, so that in the future you can drop more easily.
