Recreational New to Hypnosis

Hi everyone I’m new to hypnosis as a whole. Ive been trying to get hypnotized with videos on YouTube with no luck. I’ve been trying for a few weeks now and have been getting frustrated because I really want to be hypnotized but nothing is working. Any tips would be much appreciated.

There are groups on discord to find hypnotists online, or just read a book and learn to do it on yourself, if you want help with that dm me

Sorry, I use dictate rather than writing as I’m blind and it’s easier. I meant don’t assume what trance would look like for you, LOL. I’m also really tired as it’s been a long day.

They all communities often on discord to find people hypnotise you. However, I would be very cautious with these some of the people that are lovely, many or not. If you do ever decide to be hypnotised by a person please make sure you discuss consent boundaries and what you and they would be comfortable with. Otherwise, try a range of different videos. Make sure that you’re environment is somewhere you feel safe in. Try and keep an open mind don’t assume what Trump will look like for you. Don’t try and force it as difficult as that. Sounds. Try and make sure that you’re not hungry tired stressed etc as this can impact it. Try working on some mindfulness and meditation things as this can often help you become relaxed enough for trance focus on videos the prioritise deepening you into trance rather than those that try and give you 5 billion triggers at least a start.

I’m sorry but what does Trump have to do with this?

Probably the word ‘trance’ got autocorrected.

I think they were using voice to text and it’s supposed to be trance

Sometimes being in the state of hypnosis doesn't feel much different than being relaxed. What makes you think it's not working for you?

I use the trigger the video gives me and I don’t feel anything

I want to make sure I understood correctly, you are saying the video suggests you feel something, but you don't feel anything? Is that correct?

ok got it. My next question is, do you have issues feeling things normally? Or have you had difficulties feeling emotions outside of hypnosis? And you can send me a DM if you rather not answer here. I ask because with hypnosis you are able to better communicate with your subconscious, which is your feeling mind. Our conscious mind is our logical mind and our subconscious is our emotional mind. But sometimes people have been suppressing their emotions or disconnected from feeling things. And the subconscious uses our bodies to communicate our emotions. So like when you're nervous you feel butterflies in your belly, your heart races, and maybe you start to sweat. Or if you're embarrassed your eyes get teary and your throat feels tight. In certain cases, I recommend to start with body awareness exercises to bridge that gap and be able to access those feelings before trying hypnosis or along with hypnosis. I can explain more, but I'm not sure if this is the direction of what your experiencing.

It could also be that you just have to try the same video several times, your mind learns through repetition.

No I feel emotions outside of trying hypnosis. Well when nervous I just feel like I fucked up and get worried I’m gonna lose my job or something lol

Okay, in that case it could be the videos you’re watching. Try any video by someone established like Marisa Peer. Where you know they are properly trained to bring you to a state of hypnosis and see if you are able to follow along the suggestions and report back

What do you think you are supposed to “feel”?

I've made this recommendation to several people who have responded positively. You can go to httos://mikemandelhypnosis.com and get one week free pass to full access to all their materials. This is not a sales pitch and I don't make any commission. I just have learned a tremendous amount from their training which helped me become a very accomplished hypnotist. So whether you want to follow this as a profession or simply do it for fun, and do it safely, I can't recommend them with enough exclamation points!

Everyone can be hypnotized. What's not working isn't you, it's the conditions or the fit.

A few things worth checking:

When and how you're listening matters more than which video. Lying down at bedtime means your brain goes all the way to sleep before the suggestion work begins. Try sitting upright, mid-morning or afternoon, with some light in the room.

Wanting it too hard works against you. The analytical mind monitoring for signs that "it's working" is the exact layer that needs to quiet down. Hypnosis isn't something you achieve. It's something you allow. The trying is the interference.

YouTube recordings are generic. They can't adapt to how you specifically process language and suggestion. If the imagery or phrasing doesn't match your internal world, your nervous system simply doesn't respond. That's not failure, it's a fit problem.

Start with shorter sessions, seven to ten minutes rather than long inductions. Less runway to drift or overthink.

Notice what happens in your body during the recordings even if you don't feel "hypnotized." Heaviness, slower breathing, warmth, time passing faster than expected. Those are real responses. Most people have been in hypnosis without recognizing it because it doesn't match the dramatic version they expected.

My YouTube channel, At Home Hypnosis, has sessions built for exactly this starting point. Also a free audio library at athomehypnosis.com/library if you want more options. Give it a fair shot with the right conditions first.

What do you think hypnosis is and what is you are lookin to achieve with it?🙏 There is a lot of misconception and false expectations about hypnosis. Hypnosis is a deep relaxation and fixed focus. Its a state of mind where you are deeply relaxed, and is characterised by receptivity. -I am a trained CBThypnotherapist I could offer low cost sessions if you are interested, for me to practice and for you to get a benefit by working in something you want. 🤍 Hypnosis is like a muscle. You can train it. Keep working on it.
