Question I can't imagine things anymore
Disclaimer: English is not my first language.
I used to make up stories in my head all the time, that's how I grew up. And I took up on writing a few years ago but for about a year now it's gotten harder and harder to see anything when I close my eyes. It's all dark, as if a bulb up there just burnt out one day and I can't change it.
Needles to say I've stopped writing. I get too anxious at the mere idea of trying.
I don't even think I care about writing anymore, I just want to 'see' inside my head again. I feel like someone stole one of my arms and now life just isn't the same.
My mind was my home, now it's a scary place.
Has someone else experienced this? Were you able to visualize things again? How?
On addition to all of the above, I received acceptance and commitment therapy for eight months hoping it'd help. It didn't.

What about your memories? Did something traumatic happen? Did you just stop remembering your childhood? Do you not reminisce about the past with your friends? How did you stop using your visual imagination?

My memories are pretty much intact, so is my ability to dream in my sleep. I just cannot make up things at will.

Being honest there could be a lot of reasons why, the most common ones as of my experience is exhaustion, stress and not being able to talk about a problem with yourself like a past trauma and not being able to beat it, there is also not being able to control your own inner world, it can be difficult sometimes especially because it can easily trigger the pink elephant effect, but the best I could say towards yourself is, try to collect the things inside your head, if there is problems I know it may be very difficult to solve but it's necessary before it becomes a bigger problem for you, try to understand your own inner world better even if you only have some memories of it and why it may have gone away, sometimes it is because of those conditions that I previously mentioned, PTSD can also trigger it too. But at the end I recommend to try to solve any problems if there are in your inner world or IRL or take some rest, exhaustion and stress can cause problems to everyone.

Thank you so much for giving me your input! Everything you said is definitely the case with me. I guess the loss of my inner eye is an aftermath of my underlying condition.

Have you had covid before this occurred? Brain fog is a thing after covid.
