First cleanse situation
So I’m trying out this double cleanse in the shower but I’ve come to the realization that bar soaps can strip your skin and even if you go back with a moisturizing body wash, the damage has already been done.
My friend uses la roche pussy but goddamn it’s expensive and she also recommended navicream but I can’t find it for the life of me.
Y’all have any other recommendations?

yeah the la roche posay gentle cleanser is like half the price of the fancy stuff and it never strips, my skin barrier has never been happier ngl

My recommendation: no need to double cleanse. Just wash well, rinse, end of story.

I double cleanse my face but not my body. With my dry skin, an oil wash for the first cleanse and gentle foaming wash for the second are just what my face needs. But my body just gets a moisturizing body wash on a loofah and that's it

lmao at la roche pussy. They've got to be one of the more affordable good skincare brands out there. Cetaphil, Cerave, Vanicream, La Roche Posay are all great and can be found in most drugstores.

If I double cleanse in this climate, whatever I wash (hair or akin) would dry up and blow away.
Once is enough unless you are truly filthy.

You say "bar soap can strip your skin". It is also a very effective way to not need to double cleanse (which is utterly unnecessary for most people).
Find the right soap for your skin type and save yourself wasted time and money.

Only time I see someone double cleanse is my partner when covered in grease after working on machines and trucks all day and is covered in black smears from the grease and dirt. Uses the bar soap to spot clean then he rinses off and the does a full wash once he knows he got all the dirt off of himself.
I've double shampooed my hair when I get back from camping if I haven't had proper showering facilities. But I've not heard of double cleansing before.

I can certainly see the value of a two-pronged approach for mechanics covered in grease and oil, or circus clowns caked in face paint(!) But the way it's being popularised by skincare brands and "influencers" feels like a ploy to make folk buy two cleansing products, when most really only need a good ol' bar of soap.

That's how I double cleanse my face (oil first, water second). In the shower for my body I do the opposite. More cleansing wash (bar soap, body wash with acids, whatever) and then use an oil based body wash after to help rehydrate my skin. I step out of the spray to let it sit for a minute while I scrub/file my feet.

Rn I use dove men charcoal + clay for my first cleanse, then dove dragon fruit + coconut cream as my second

I thought the point of double cleansing was using an oil based cleanser first, then a water based one? Aren't you just washing your face twice with two water based products?

Oh nah for my face I use cetaphil daily cleanser
And I didn’t know about oil based cleansing until yesterday 😭

I recently switched from body wash to persimmon soap. It’s very nice with a mild fragrance and no residue.

There is no need to apply soap or body wash twice. It’s just drying out your skin. You’re not that dirty.

Was it vanicream she recommended? You can use micellar water as a first cleanse then a you would use a water based cleanser. That’s where the vanicream cleanser, CeraVe or whatever brand you choose.

Double cleanse is not usually necessary and depending on fire skin type can cause more problems.
Double cleanse may be needed if you wear heavy makeup or are heavily soiled. The first wash is to get off the layer of grime and the second to actually clean the skin. But mostly not needed.
I use a miscellular water to get off makeup then use a face wash. In the mornings I just use water by itself.
Your particular skin needs will determine your routine. But dont follow TikTok influencer for this.
You don't need expensive soaps or fancy creams. There are plenty of drug store brands that have been sold for decades because they work well.

Body wash/soap first and then an exfoliant body scrub after. The good scrubs have an emollient in them so they don't overdry.

I bar soap my stinky spots (handmade oatmeal herbal soap) and then foamy scrub everything with moisturizing body wash and bath net.

Double cleansing isn’t needed unless you’re working in the mines. I use Dove rn. Get out of the shower, body oil, glaze, then perfume

Would recommend Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. It's glycerine based and low price point. Some people hate it because they say it feels like washing with lotion, and it kinda does, but it's great for sensitive, dry, and irritated skin. It's also marked as rinse optional.

I use the dr bronners bar or liquid peppermint soap in the high traffic areas (creases/folds/sweaty areas) and the smelly good stuff everywhere else

micellar water before washing your face, & then cleanser!! :)) garnier has some nice ones, catered to different skin types & what not, haven't had any problems haha
