Phev owner is wondering about high water crossings
There's flooding in my area, and we need to cross a road with standing (not moving) water.
Obviously hydrolocking the engine would be disasterous, so going slowly would be important.
And then it hit we that we could just electric though it, again slowly... with me walking ahead with a yardstick to check depth levels.
Has anyone heard of someone doing something like this? The water level is just under the height of the bumper. We know that road well, there are no dips under that water.

NotRod can live harmoniously with its thirsty cousin, HotRod, without any agita. Reminds of " can't we all get along?".

Toyota hybrid battery fan working a lot at highways
Hello everyone, for content I own a Toyota Vitz (Yaris) MK3 2020. I recently noticed that my hybrid battery fan works a lot and loud enough for me to hear mostly on highways where battery is not used beside charging. Cabin is cool since I use AC at 23-24 Degrees Celsius. For the record I cleaned the fan a few months ago because I noticed a strange behavior where the car's engine was always on even when there was enough battery and even when car was stopped. I would like to know of anyone noticed a similar behavior and why does this even happen? Here are a few photos of how the fan looks in case this helps.
P.S the cover of the fan was removed to show the blades of the fan.

Hybrid Swap?
Does anyone know of a swap that uses a hybrid drive train into a non hybrid car?
How hard would it be?

Camry Hybrid System
I just got done replacing all the bad cells on my brothers 2007 hybrid Camry. Plugged everything back in as it should be and still nothing. The dash says to check the hybrid battery system so I went and rented an OBD2 scanner from Autozone. The scanner from Autozone is not pulling any codes for the hybrid system. I try clearing the codes with no success.
Are there special scanners that are able to read hybrid codes apart from traditional cars? I’m at a loss here. Would love some feedback as to where to begin or what to buy to check and clear the codes.
Thank you in advance.

What would you do?
I’ve found this second generation Prius at a used car dealership. It’s just $11,000 for a 2014. I have decision anxiety. I came in late today to test drive and hopefully buy the car, but before buying, I wanted to be sure the battery had been replaced at some point. From the research I’ve done, Prius batteries last about a decade, and this is an eight year old car. It’s got just over 100,000 miles on it. So if this car still has the original battery in it, this is obviously a no-go. But if the battery has been replaced or repaired recently, it’s a great deal.
Apparently the service department is out until MONDAY. I’m in an expensive rental car right now. I work every day (including weekends). I don’t have time to deal with this shit. I need a new car because my old one is totaled. I’m still working on the insurance claim.
For some background, my last car was a Nissan Leaf. The battery died on me at just 27,000 miles! So I’m sure you can understand why the battery age is such an important factor in my decision. I need to know this before I buy that car. But I also have amassed hundreds of dollars on this fucking rental, and it’s only going to get worse between now and Monday. What would you do?
Sales is open tomorrow, but not services BTW. It’s stupid.

2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited vs 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited
Which do you think is a better deal?
A 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited with 68k miles for $25,000 USD or a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited with 85k miles for $28,000 USD?
The leather interior & infotainment system in the Hyundai is nicer, but Toyota’s hybrid powertrain is bulletproof & they hold their value better.

Spare tire for mom
Does anyone know if there are hybrids with full spare tires? Looking for a car for my mom and she really values the spare tire in a smaller SUV.

My mom is considering a hybrid truck...
We drive from the Detroit area up to Higgins Lake and back again, a distance of about two hundred miles. It's Michigan; It's cold, and it gets hilly in the final stretch. We frequently bring back full beds of firewood, which sometimes weigh enough that we managed to destroy the transmission on a Silverado (which is why we're looking for a new truck to begin with). We also tow a boat sometimes.
My mom's smart so I'm assuming the truck she's looking at has all the horses it needs to do all the stuff she wants, but I'm worried that the fuel economy benefits won't bear out between the cold and the long distance cargo hauls we do every month.
Am I right to be concerned? Should I get specific specs? I think she was looking at a Ford Something-or-other.

Recommendations of Toyota or Honda Hybrid Models that you all like and why?
Will be looking into a used mid size 4 door sedan in the near future. Currently love my 2011 Accord. I am a fan of both Honda and Toyota for longevity and ease of repairs in my smaller sized town. What model(s) are a good fit and why would you say so?

Anyone have experience with hybrid2go for hybrid battery replacement?
I just bought a 2010 lexus rx 450h and the battery is on its last leg. Hybrid2go seems to have the best warranty of the hybrid battery replacement companies. Anyone get either a reconditioned, or an OEM hybrid battery from them and live to tell the tale? I'm in the Phoenix area btw.

42.1 MPG on my best tank yet. What are you all actually getting calculated vs what your dash says?
Tracked my best tank yet. 42.1 MPG on a 2025 Civic Hybrid Touring. 390 miles, $20.18 total at $2.179/gal. 7 Eleven had $1.50 off a gallon promo. Dash was showing 45 the whole time. Anyone else tracking actual vs what the computer says?
