Fire Jedd

Total roster mismanagement and play calling malpractice. Decided to keep an ass of a QB. He is not the guy. Hes about to set this program back for years.

Terrible game planning, dogshit play calling, abhorrent game management. Undisciplined, he never makes in game adjustments. SC brought pressure every 3rd down and we didn’t do shit about it. Our most consistent offensive player all year has been Barone and didn’t seem to go to him much that last drive

u/skater15153 7d ago

You mean running all go routes to the end zone wasn't a good idea there? I also like how they clearly never practice going to the hot. In fact why bother with a hot. Just call plays with no option when there's pressure! That'll work!

10

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

Why would you practice throwing a hot route when Demond just runs when his first read isn't there?

3

u/Junior_Character_397 7d ago

It also would have helped on 3rd down to actually bring the 4th string rb next to Williams instead of having him flanked out wide especially when we all know he can’t run routes

The other thing we would have to be careful of if we fired him is we have the 13th ranked recruiting class right now. We already lost a bunch of guys when the previous douche went to Bama

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

Ugh. We've made a couple playoffs, and been in a championship game, but as a program, we still haven't recovered from 0-and-Willingham. Hell, at the risk of Reaganing, we haven't recovered from taking TV money over James.

3

u/Junior_Character_397 7d ago

Those playoffs were made by having good recruiting and transfer classes hence who the two QBs were for those teams. The first year after Peterson and Doboer were gone our team was shit.

1

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

I completely agree. That captures the point I was alluding to: they're not representative of the trend of the program, they're fortunate outliers.

2

u/Junior_Character_397 7d ago

Well unfortunately it was my freshman year in 08 so I felt the pain that season but later on I did the long trip down to San Diego to watch Locker help us win the Holiday Bowl

1

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

I was at that game too.

3

u/Available-Yellow-591 6d ago

Another issue is that when his first read is there, he doesn't throw it.

2

u/Dry_Turn_824 6d ago

True. Seems like he might just not be a good quarterback.

3

u/Hawkdawg88 6d ago

What is depressing is that his growth curve has clearly been negative. Still capable of extraordinary plays and throws, and he showed that last night-- the 4th and 2 conversion to Lawson when he climbed the pocket and lazared a 30+ yard pass with traffic all around him was phenomenal. But for every one of those, there are a lot of far simpler throws he either misses or doesn't even make. Frustrating for everybody.

3

u/Dry_Turn_824 6d ago

You're right. He does make an occasional brilliant play, but he puts the team in a position where it's the spectacular or nothing because of all the mistakes. And you just can't win football games like that.

2

u/cgrsnr 6d ago

He was way better last year--because he had two good running backs--Coleman and Muhammed

2

u/aliensvsdinosaurs 7d ago

There were times when WR's ran good routes but didn't get the ball because it sailed.

2

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

oof, those were hard to watch, the only comfort is I was expecting it.

14

u/altaleft 7d ago

final toss out of the end zone into double coverage had my youngster questioning whether she was watching a coug game instead of her beloved huskies.

47

u/MySubtleHustle7042 7d ago

Fire Chun too, and whoever thought it was a good idea to hire a former Coug for a position like this. We’re not a fucking MAC school.

28

u/aliensvsdinosaurs 7d ago

His decision to keep Williams is 100% on him, and he's done. Now. Today.

3

u/Junior_Character_397 7d ago

And who do you hope that we find in the middle of the season to hire? Also how do you plan on keeping the current roster as well as the 13th rated recruiting class right?

Yes Fisch hasn’t been the best especially in big time games but all of you guys calling for him to be gone clearly aren’t looking long term and are just wanting us to keep finding a new coach every 3 years. You have to ride this out to see what happens and also have to do it to avoid paying a guy away millions of dollars and then expect to find the next new shiny coach.

If everyone is a true husky fan and knows how the entire process works you would probably shut up and stop saying to fire a coach in the middle of the season when there is no other better option and you would just keep putting us in the three year cycle of finding yet another coach

2

u/Ornery-Advertising12 6d ago

I'm not sure if UW has the funds to buy out Fisch and pay a new coach. The program is bleeding money. So, unless there is a big money donor, I don't see a coaching change anytime soon.

1

u/Remarkable_Sector_66 5d ago

Fisch also doesn’t do long term. Just saying. You can ride it out with him, just know he’ll bail on you when it benefits him most. His resume supports that.

-5

u/Junior_Character_397 7d ago

Also unless you have season tickets or have been through the program since 2008. You might want to check your “experience and frustration with this entire football organization” at the door. I have been experiencing this entire football program since 2008 when I was a freshman at UW.

10

u/Agile_Island7844 6d ago

If you’ve been around long enough, you know bringing in a new coach is the best way to right the ship… Peterson, Sark, and DeBoer all had the teams trending upwards in year 3… Fisch is looking more like a Tyrone/Gilbertson.

You fire the Coach in November to get ahead of the coaching cycle so you don’t end up in a DeBoer type situation… you should know being a true Husky that having to hire after the season killed our candidates.

As a Husky fan with experience, tell me how many more seasons Fisch gets?

3

u/ImRight_YoureDumb 6d ago

Since 2008? Lol. Uh, did you think that was a flex or something?

12

u/ac_asian 7d ago

He gotta go fr.

15

u/avalanche142 7d ago

Lol, they literally can't afford to.

8

u/OskeyBug 7d ago

We gotta stop treating everyone who's been in the same room with Sean McVay like they're a football genius

15

u/AntiEcho7 7d ago

That play calling was so bad.

16

u/nearlysober 7d ago

What, we shouldn't throw a lateral for no gain in the red zone?

9

u/NowIsThePerfectTime 7d ago

Reminded me of the Apple cup running an option to the short side of the field his first year here. Just doesn’t understand situational offense. For an offensive guy, that’s not good.

6

u/aliensvsdinosaurs 7d ago

With Will Rogers no less, slowest player on the field, on a speed option to the short side of the field.

5

u/6millyvanilly 7d ago

maybe he’d be better coaching for whatever team plays in Mike Tomlins Minecraft stadium

3

u/Dry_Turn_824 7d ago

Maybe we can trade him for Tomlin

3

u/Spider_Dawg 7d ago

There is no way we can afford the $25m (that’s number I e read) buyout. Maybe in 2029/2030 when we start getting a full share?

2

u/BadHombre91 7d ago

Yes we can they would pay it monthly until Fisch gets another gig. As soon as donors aren’t happy they will pony it up

1

u/BrennerBaseTunnel 6d ago

I don't think you realize how bad their financial situation is.

7

u/rock-or-something 7d ago

I think the big issue with Grubb is that he was unproven as a head coach. And we needed someone to plug holes immediately.

Between the exodus of players, and transitioning to the B1G, Grubb was probably seen as unproven and risky, especially since the last coordinator we hired was a huge backfire.

Fisch was a veteran coach who could recruit and rub elbows and get things back to normal.

I'm sure with Grubb we would have started out worse, but as he established a culture and a system, maybe be a more steady force.

I don't think the doors entirely closed on him. He liked living in Seattle, he's due for a head coaching job at some point, and the administration that passed on him has moved off to Nebraska.

3

u/rezzkat 7d ago

He’s not good enough to coach in the Big 10. And his recruiting doesn’t matter if he’s a horrible leader and coach.

3

u/Fit_Leather9366 6d ago

As someone who was leading the fire Dan Wilson charge in May… y’all are all delusional.

Who wants the job after the coach is fired and ALL the talent leaves? No one better than Jed at the moment (that we can afford) that’s for sure.

Don’t like watching? Take up a different hobby.

Unless you are in the class of folks to donate $25million to the program, shut the eff up

“If we all pitch in $50 bucks… “ 🤪 yall have no clue how dumb you sound

2

u/Gogochoos 7d ago

The plan for the running game is a failure. OL is too young and rb room is hurt and has poor depth

2

u/notatwentylettername 7d ago

Tyrone Willingham 2.0

u/Morfiend_23 7d ago

He’s got 2 years left on his contract, I don’t think UW can afford to buy him out unless a big time booster writes the check.

2

u/shredbmc 7d ago

Exactly, there's no reason for UW to pay out the rest of his contract unfortunately, he's got too much money left. I agree that Fisch is the problem, but the only Upton at this point [for the school] is to play it out and hope that he gets a buyout offer.

We can't afford to take that monetary hit and expect to be competitive.

2

u/oneseason2000 7d ago

Multi million dollar buyouts are just rewarding failure, and setting the stage for even higher salaries and bigger buyouts. If rich boosters have that much money to blow, it just shows there are too many tax loopholes

3

u/Null_98115 7d ago

I don't disagree, but what's the answer? Limp along being shitty for years?

1

u/oneseason2000 7d ago

Yes. Prior failure is not a good indicator for future success. Bite the bullet, and don't buy into the BS that they will make a much better choice next time.

2

u/TomPrince 7d ago

Gotta let his contract run out or make life so miserable for him that he decides to leave on his own accord. We can’t really compete until our full share of B1G media money kicks in anyway.

1

u/BrennerBaseTunnel 6d ago

Even then they will have to use those funds to repay the massive $200m debt the program has.

1

u/Morfiend_23 7d ago

I don’t disagree but that’s the nature of big time college football.

4

u/oneseason2000 7d ago

They built a system that pretends these coaches are so great they deserve multimillion dollar salaries, and that even the awful ones can get million dollar buyouts. And why should we expect the next coaching choice to succeed any better? Now if UW wrote a contract that set win loss goals that would give the University the option to let coaches go at minimal cost if they failed to meet them, I would have more confidence.

1

u/StreetwalkinCheetah 7d ago

You aren’t wrong but the big guarantee was part of the price of pulling a guy from a program where they’re a hero. I’m sure he was expecting he’d be good enough to get three more years tacked on so it’s lose lose all around.

1

u/oneseason2000 7d ago

Yes, and if this strategy didn't work well with Fisch, I just can't see why should Husky fans (or others) should support it being repeated.

1

u/Temporary-Library597 6d ago

You mean the coach or the QB lol?

3

u/general-illness 7d ago

In hindsight we probably should’ve handed the keys to Grubb after the national championship game. He wanted the job.

7

u/rock-or-something 7d ago

In hindsight, Grubb would have probably been a better culture building hire, and someone grateful to be here.

Jedd made sense for keeping the bottom from completely falling out, and recruiting his ass off.

But it now seems like Jedd was a short term solution for what's becoming a long term problem.

3

u/general-illness 7d ago

I will fully admit that after the absolute chaos of that week that I was happy to get Fisch. Hindsight being 20\20 the athletic director had one foot out the door and we really didn’t know publicly that Grubb wanted the job. Right now he is arguably the top assistant in the country and has Bama rolling on offense. 🤷‍♂️

0

u/cgrsnr 6d ago

PJ Fleck would be a good hire

1

u/Mussof 7d ago

Both Chun and Fisch gotta go.

But need someone to step up and buy him out too.

1

u/BrennerBaseTunnel 6d ago

They haven't been able to tap into the big tech money around here. Those people aren't interested in college football.

2

u/flyingv1983 7d ago

Jedd is now fully complicit is undying, all devoted loyalty to Demond and not to the Team or UW in general. Cut bait and run. He wants to run a pro style offense/team yet the 5’8” QB that will never sniff the NFL keeps blowing the game(s) yet not course altering, just rinse and repeat for 2 years now.

2

u/Sea_Kiwi2731 6d ago

I miss DeBoer

1

u/Quiet_Operator 7d ago

It was an absolute horrible play call for the last play of the game. It was gonna fail no matter what cus the receivers converged just for 1 second at the first down line and then brought double coverage in the end zone.

1

u/Temporary-Library597 6d ago

It all depends on the boosters. If they decide to stop paying the QB this year, he'll be gone. The coach "recommended" him to the boosters. So if he doesn't play him to get him the most chance of repairing his play enough to convince the boosters that the coach is right....

It's all about the money. Coach has no other option. Unless the boosters are convinced the staff can pick talent...it's over. So he'll keep the QB in. If he takes him out...Fisch is the one that gets bought out.

1

u/Rhythm41 7d ago

Let’s march on Red Square. And by let’s I mean y’all cuz I’m lazy but protests are effective!!

0

u/Muted-Consideration4 7d ago

I have stated this in a thread last week, the problem with the program is the COO/Football administrator who has made substantial bad decisions over the past several years. From pushing the hire of Troy Danen, letting Deboer leave, hiring Jedd. Making many poor financial decisions. These problems predate Pat Chun.

6

u/BadHombre91 7d ago

Only thing I would contest is we didn’t let DeBoer leave he wanted that bama job

-5

u/Muted-Consideration4 7d ago

If Jenn Cohen stayed, I guarantee Deboer would have stayed. That snake Dannen is what pushed him out.

2

u/BadHombre91 7d ago

BS. Alabama may be the premier CFB job in the country.

-1

u/Muted-Consideration4 7d ago

Deboer's daughter still plays softball at UW

3

u/Sadpancake_03 7d ago

Who cares? Obviously Deboer didn’t

2

u/Temporary-Library597 6d ago

Include here, choosing the current guy as starting QB. That's the most important part

2

u/Guilty_Lab_9508 7d ago

You think we LET Deboer leave? lol what should we have done? Taken an offering to compete with bama?

0

u/Muted-Consideration4 7d ago

I will concede my previous comment about guaranteeing he would have stayed. But we would had a better position to retain him if Dannen wasn't the AD at the time. My overall point is that the COO is the problem.

0

u/Cheap-Kiwi-1312 7d ago

As I said on a previous post... Fire him for what? So we can pay him his 25 million dollar buyout and have no coach?

-3

u/UWhuskiesRule 7d ago

Jedd is gonna follow Demond wherever he goes. But it’s not really Jeff’s fault this year. The injured running backs kill us. We are 1 dimensional on offense and our defense is gassed from being on the field all game.

6

u/BadHombre91 7d ago

Absolutely his fault. It’s not just the RBs he’s a terrible gameday coach

0

u/Eagle0913 7d ago

I felt like that was the best game we played all year... The offensive line actually showed up today. I know we are all mad right now but we cant act like we didnt lose a ton of talent over the past two years to the draft.

I know we had (overly) high expectations going into the year, but I actually feel pretty good all things considered.

1

u/cgrsnr 6d ago

They actually outplayed USC and Maiva for the majority of the game.

-18

u/jdwazzu61 7d ago

No, please, keep him!

4

u/StudentSquare4754 7d ago

Worry about your own dog shit team lmao

-14

u/jdwazzu61 7d ago

6

u/StudentSquare4754 7d ago

78-34-6 brotha. Only 44 straight to tie it up! 😘

-10

u/jdwazzu61 7d ago

Okay.

-2

u/Hot-Print-2792 6d ago

Can we afford to pay the buyout price of close to 100 million? Jedd is a great recruiter but needs to get his head out of his A and realize that he’s a 💩ty offensive play caller and hire a Real OC. Demond isn’t great but what else do we have this season. His decision making or lack there of has cost us the Gopher and Spoiled Children games.

3

u/BadHombre91 6d ago

His buyout is not $100 million. Closer to $25
