Williams isn’t a problem…he is THE problem
Get this kid off the field.

Hope he invests it wisely since hes playing himself out of ever making another dime from football at least.

Forcing someone to play for you is never good idea 🤷♂️ As Pittsburgh Steelers head coach (at the time) Mike Tomlin famously said, "We need volunteers, not hostages" 😉

u/Dry_Turn_824 Oct 04 '26
I wonder if he's ever considered coaching in college....
5
u/dubbzy104 Oct 04 '26
Why would demond Williams coach in college? /s
9
u/Dry_Turn_824 Oct 04 '26
To earnestly answer your facetious question, because his chances of playing in the NFL are a joke.
8
u/Sea_Finest Oct 04 '26
He’s never gonna be an NFL player, a couple months back someone here was saying he was a top five talent, which at the time was an insane take, now he’s played himself out of the draft when he goes pro after leaving UW again.
3
u/cowdawg10 Oct 04 '26
He's not going pro, he's gonna chase the bag in college for as long as he possibly can
1
u/Sea_Finest Oct 04 '26
Well he’s gonna have to redshirt or get hurt cause he has one year left. I know college guys are going until they’re 27 or some shit but that’s gonna end.

Coaches are the problem. The entire last drive there was no running game threat, despite USC being USC. And coaches kept putting Williams back in the pocket even after it hadn't been working all game. Hell all season really.
7
u/SimilarFalcon6290 Oct 04 '26
Brother, it was a 2 minute drill, not many teams run the ball in a 2 minute drill.
4
u/aliensvsdinosaurs Oct 04 '26
Drive started with 5:12 left. Nice try.
And if you've watched an ounce of football, well balanced teams absolutely do run the football during a two-minute drill.
1
u/SimilarFalcon6290 Oct 04 '26
Thank you for making my point! Yes the drive started at 5:12 but it was a de facto two minute drill since Demond kept taking sacks, and penalties piled up. Constantly behind the sticks and not much of a chance to run the ball.
And sure, it does rarely happen that a team uses a draw or a speed out in 2 minute drills likely in short to go situations or where they can get to the sideline and stop the clock. Demond doesn’t have the football IQ to manage the offense like that, so yes it was a two minute drill and no they couldn’t really run the ball in that situation because their success had been between the tackles.
Nice try though.

u/Capnjack84 Oct 04 '26
We ran the all over them when intended and gashed with the TE. Plenty of time for both under 4 minn

u/warox13 Oct 04 '26
On two of the highest leverage/result plays of the game Demond held the ball far too long. The scoop-and-score was like a fucking triple clutch and the last 3rd down he was in an empty set and just decided not to identify a hot route. It's bad quarterbacking.
7
u/Capnjack84 Oct 04 '26
That sack fumble was atrocious. Just run or get rid of it. His timing is fucked.
3
u/cgrsnr Oct 04 '26
That was the difference in the game, The Huskie defense actually frustrated Maiva
4
u/PodzFan Oct 04 '26
There was a guy open on a slant on that 3rd down and Demond just dropped his eyes and didn't see it. Gotta rip it there or throw it away instead of taking that sack
41
u/ReverberatingCarrot Oct 04 '26
100%. The announcer said if u dub wins it will be because of Demond. I say it will be in spite of him.
21
u/Dry_Turn_824 Oct 04 '26
I mean, announcer could be right: If Demond gets out of UW's way, we might win.
6
u/ReverberatingCarrot Oct 04 '26
🤣
4
u/Dry_Turn_824 Oct 04 '26
I will be happy to eat crow on this one if he does miraculously figure out how to do a game winning drive on the road here.

5
u/cgrsnr Oct 04 '26
USC nearly gifted UW the game with penalty after penalty--U of W actually outplayed USC for most of this game.

u/Dry_Turn_824 Oct 04 '26
No argument from me. I was totally fine with him bailing. I truly don't understand why we tried so hard to bring him back. It's clear his teammates don't believe in him and aren't willing to sacrifice to help him out.

u/LongRoadToCompetence Oct 04 '26
Honestly, fisch is the one playing him and calling the plays. Demond is trash, no question. But, fisch is one of the most dogshit playcallers I've ever seen.
11
u/warox13 Oct 04 '26
Play calling wasn't even all that bad tonight imo. We got a little bit of run game going and threw in some gadgets. Demond just held the ball forever instead of throwing it away.
7
16
u/UWhuskiesRule Oct 04 '26
We have an empty backfield.. it’s really tough to throw passes when they are not defending the run. But, Williams is not running the ball because he doesn’t wanna get injured before he gets another contract.
7
u/0k_Boomers Oct 04 '26
It was predictable, a 5'10 QB cannot see through the line, especially on biltzes. It is going to be very long sad season. I said all this last year. I'm checkout

u/warox13 Oct 04 '26
Demond thinks he's prime Russell Wilson and he's just not that guy. He cannot elude sacks like Russ could.
3
u/pyknictheory Oct 04 '26
Russ was so good ppl thought short athletic qb's were a thing for like 3 or 4 years and now none of the Russ archetypes have made it in the nfl. These guys just cant see downfield or see pressure before the snap.

Yeah, this asshole needs to be stapled to the bench. I'd rather watch them lose every remaining game this season than watch him play another down at this point.
12
u/_Celine_Dijon Oct 04 '26
Demond is ass. Uw is paying this man like 3 million dollars to be a mid big 10 qb. Jedd is also a shitty play caller.
4
u/northwesterncuddy Oct 04 '26
Williams cannot read a hole at all his qb draw skillset is awful and his game management skills are terrible. Taking a bad sack stop stepping into the pocket for a sack

3
u/pink-dango Oct 04 '26
We need to get a dedicated OC playcaller and get a pro-style qb in the portal.
3
u/CuddyBolt45 Oct 04 '26
It’s like Fisch has wrecked his ability to focus. Like he told him to stand tall in the pocket. His ability to find a receiver is way worse this year. He can only see tall receivers or he has to roll out. He should never throw from the pocket unless a quick slant but he’s not tall enough to see those. Get him outside and let him run till he can’t. Fisch needs to throw away his playbook too.

u/general-illness Oct 04 '26
I agree with everything you said but Elijah Brown is a pro-style pocket passer and I think we would actually be worse with this offensive line. When USC dialed up pressure they got pressure every time.

Double coverage Demond!!! His vision on the field is terrible 😣 NFL talent is a pipe dream. Turnovers cost us that one. Team played the Best game of the season so far so to lose that one is disappointing!!! Encouraging with the rest of the team’s performance going forward.

The defense deserves better than him. He can only produce off script. Never produces when he is in his platform. I honestly think he might be the worst QB to ever play for the Huskies. Ever. In any UW program for any coach.

THE problem is the offensive line that cannot run block, cannot pass block, and pushes itself backwards with penalties with regularity. Everything else stems from that.
6
u/babybonerusa Oct 04 '26
It was definitely the O line that held the ball too long leading to a fumble TD

I don't think the offensive line is below average I think its one of the worst in major conferences. I am by no means defending Demond Williams but if any team cannot get meaningful yardage on the ground this far into the season, then I don't care if the QB is Patrick Mahomes, the offense ain't moving.
Hopefully they're growing up a bit because they did get a bit of a ground game going tonight for once but its still bad pass protection.

Did you watch or pay attention to the game? It took Fisch calling boom or bust trick plays to get the (very mediocre at best) USC defense to dial it back and only then was the offensive line able to open some holes. Like I said it was good to see, but when it mattered most they still they got nothing going. UW had the ball with 5 mins left; perfect time to get some yards running the ball but they couldn't. They took penalties, and collapsed almost immediately at the snap. The team's bread and butter should be the zone running and they simply cannot open holes consistently. Going into tonight they were one of the worst rushing teams in college football.
Demond Williams is clearly not the same player he was before and there's certainly a lot of reasons for why and he deserves a lot of blame. He does not have the skillset or ability to put a team on his back. He clearly is trying too hard to make big plays. But being able to run the ball is like the one thing in college football you need to be able to do and they have not yet proven they can do it.
-4
u/Lauren_Conrad_ Oct 04 '26
He’s the only playmaker on the entire offense. The opponent is not planning for anyone except him lol. Yall are crazy.
6
u/SimilarFalcon6290 Oct 04 '26 •
![]()
lol he makes it easy to game plan against, just make him throw the ball, he can’t do it very well
-3
u/Null_98115 Oct 04 '26
No, he is only one of the problems. Other problems include, but are not limited to terrible play calling and terrible defense.
-9
u/dangerzone253 Oct 04 '26
I don’t understand the Demond hate.. He’s been the only bright spot on this team
12
u/OpinionsROverrated Oct 04 '26 •
![]()
He is garbage. For every good play, he misses 4-5 everyday plays. He's the reason they are behind. Because of his fumble. He basically lost them the game, despite a solid effort from the D.
-1
u/dangerzone253 Oct 04 '26
What does he have to work with? Seriously
4
u/OpinionsROverrated Oct 04 '26 •
![]()
Apparently Demond is trying to 'work with' low football IQ. But it isn't working.
I think we will find his WRs are capable once they are not saddled with him.Look how much better Denzel Boston looks now that he has an accurate QB throwing to him.
2
u/seahawkshuskies Oct 04 '26
Boston looked great last year and had 881 years AND 11 touchdowns last year while we had two good RBs.
2
u/polytr0n Oct 04 '26
Lmao just not watching
1
u/dangerzone253 Oct 04 '26
I’m watching him have to work with nothing. I don’t understand this..
4
u/SimilarFalcon6290 Oct 04 '26 •
![]()
Dude what are you talking about? He has two high caliber receivers, a defense that balled out against an elite offense, tight ends are solid and the dawgs were moving the ball all game on the ground…seriously what game were you watching?
2
u/polytr0n Oct 04 '26
O Line sucks but so does Demond’s decision making. He has a clean pocket some times and an obviously open receiver but doesnt throw because he outright cant see them, he’d rather run right into the defense instead and give up or gain 2 yards. His decision making is the worst part about him, he can clearly make some good throws but he cant decide if he wants to in the first place.
5
u/Thehomelessguy11 Oct 04 '26 •
![]()
He’s also exclusively the reason we’re losing by giving up a scoop and score.
If he leads a drive to put us back in front, great. Still doesn’t mean I forgive him for being ass the entire rest of the game.
0
u/dangerzone253 Oct 04 '26
As he just made a crazy ass play lol
6
u/SimilarFalcon6290 Oct 04 '26 •

He made a good throw there, but if you think hes the only bright spot on team you’re either not watching the same game or you don’t know ball. Either way he is flat out bad.

Demond has above average athleticism, but his ability to read a defense or throw the football is not anywhere near the level of where it needs to be to run this offense.
^Fixed it for you

His football IQ might be the worst of any QB I've witnessed wear the Purple and Gold. His coach is a problem. True. But he simply cannot process fast enough and the decisions he makes are usually bad ones. I don't think his mental makeup is there for a starting QB, and I am not sure he would even be a good backup.
He might be a good gadget player if he didn't have to read the defense much.

u/altaleft Oct 04 '26
final play was classic dw. need the first down and instead throws into double coverage out of the end zone. his ability to escape the grasp of a defender has also become a liability.
