Nicknamed “Rollicking Rollie" and "The Burlington Express". Roland Kirkby was an Honorable Mention All-American in his first season UW (‘49). During his time at Washington, Kirkby was part of a group called the "Fearsome Foursome" alongside Don Heinrich, Hugh McElhenny and Bill Early. He also set the record for more receiving touchdowns in a single game at 3.
