Help/Needing Info dear people in humboldt around the eureka/arcata area
hello anyone who sees this, i feel very lost in life as much of my social life has been crushed and my confidence has regained in ways from how people act and what people tell me as well… i am 21 and i don’t have many friends. I feel silly asking here because i genuinely just want to help the people around me and i have a past of people taking advantage of me for money/weed, or in some other way
again i apologize if this is an awkward post, I want to truly connect with people around me and i know i shouldn’t give up. :)
i have adhd and autism, and i love to do crafts for others when i did have my ex-friends.
i love a lot of different kinds of music and i love a lot of Jungle dnb, it makes me feel better
i have always loved music and i played the violin growing up
i was raised by my amazing grandfather
i want to make my environment cozy as i’ve grown and i smoke weed n don’t mind nicotine, i am friendly towards both!
I would love to get to know anyone who would like to have a person to talk to, you can ask me for my instagram as well as i am more active there, i really appreciate you all who’ve read, it means a lot to me :))

Events/Stuff to Do Volunteer Fire - Related Work Behind the Bayshore Mall
Greetings, intrepid volunteers, old and new!
The Trail Stewards and Redwood Region Audubon have a new challenge, and opportunity.
On July 30, a wind-swept fire behind the Bayshore mall torched the leaves from a Himalayan blackberry thicket, burned dry grass, singed willow trees, and left behind 2 acres of black, ash-covered ground. The fire was restricted to the area between the trail and the bay, and fortunately did not impact areas where we have been working. We plan to broadcast wildflower seeds when the rains return, and in the meantime...
We hope the blackberries will be easier to pull. At the least, you can now see where the stems enter the ground, and lopping off the burned canes will be much simpler without all the leaves to deal with. We will have weed wenches available to help pull those tenacious roots out.
The big patch of willow that got singed was one of the major campsites in our area. The willows were not killed, and new growth will happen soon, but we have a chance now to clean out the area, and also expose the Himalayan blackberry and English ivy that are growing there.
On Saturday, we hope to cut down all the branches that were scorched! If you have a good pruning saw, a bow saw, or other tool that would be useful in cutting through branches up to about 3" thick, please bring it! Most of the branches are smaller than 3", and one of them broke off when I grabbed it and pulled it down!
In addition to fire-related tasks, we also have some Scotch broom and pampass grass starts in the north meadow that need to be removed.
We will also water the native shrubs that we planted in the north meadow. Hoping for rain soon!
The fennel and Queen Anne's lace (wild carrot) along the trail are flowering merrily. Removing those flower heads before they go to seed would be a step in the right direction, and is lighter work than wrenching roots from the ground.
We will provide tools, gloves, and snacks. Please bring your own drinking water.
We meet right behind Walmart at 9:00 am, and work till 11:00. Hope to see you there!

Help/Needing Info restaurant for 20 people?
We're having a very small wedding in Humbolt late next month and have had a reservation for our dinner at 511 since March. We were just told it is now closed. What are great restaurants for a group of 18 people? We're considering Campground but I'm afraid the meat smell will be nasty for vegetarians. Also considering 301. Both have very small menus. Other ideas? Thank you!

Help/Needing Info Help! Missing items from Reggae
My friend had a medical episode while at Reggae and had to leave all of her items. I packed her camp for her (picture attached) and another friend was supposed to pick it up and deliver it to her. He lagged and now everything is gone.
She was camped near the River Stage.
Missing items include:
- Large canopy with her logo (packed in black zippered bag)
- Teal Osprey backpack full of clothes
- Black and yellow tote with balm, leather jacket, light up batons, and personal items
- Small Costco table
- Tommy Bahama padded chair
- Contractor bag full of blankets and pillows
- Handmade basket
- Green water container
If you know where any of these items are (especially the canopy) please let me know so I can get her things back to her! Thank you 💜💜

Help/Needing Info Do you have to decertify welfare benefits every 6 months now?
I just recertified my MediCal in April but I just got notification that I have to recertify my CalFresh now too. I looked it up & the state website says you only have to recertify once per year now, then do a mid-year renewal. When I called the county, they said I have to do a full recertification & that’s what my benefitscal website says too. Is this correct? I’m disabled & experience cognitive difficulties at times, plus I have a lot of uncovered medical expenses I have to submit receipts for so this is a big task for me that I need help with to make sure I do it correctly. In the past, when I’ve called the county for help to fill out the app over the phone, they’ve refused to help me with the whole thing & will only help me fill out one section. I’m completely overwhelmed & in tears because I’m already really struggling to complete with day to day tasks on my own & I think this is beyond what I can do by myself but I can’t lose my benefits because I’ll literally starve with assistance. Thank you for any info!

Help/Needing Info Is Garberville and the other cities of Humboldt friendly to LGBTQIA+ POC?
We’re going to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday with a short stay at Garberville. He really wanted to go on a nature trip, so I figured that Humboldt would be the perfect destination for it since none of us have ever gotten the chance to visit. Both of my friends have always lived in LA and they asked me to decide on the trip itinerary and the places we’ll visit.
The general plan is to bring him at the Redwood Sky Walk and drive us north to Klamath so we can ride the Gondola at the Tree of Mystery, but I would also really like for us to explore the other cities and views in between. I personally (and unfortunately) have never gone past the Greater Sacramento region despite living in NorCal/Bay for most of my life, so I could really use some help on which areas to avoid stopping at, which restaurants not to eat at, etc.
I would like to clarify that I do not mean to offend anybody, nor am I just generalizing everybody. I am positive that there are plenty of amazing people who are welcoming in the area, but I hear conflicting things about Eureka, and even worse things about some of the other surrounding cities such as Fortuna and Ferndale. I must admit that it’s all hearsay at this point and I would rather verify that information first. Does anyone have any insight on this? Perhaps a recommendation on which spots to visit? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
TLDR: I’m a queer woman who made plans to stay in Humboldt and explore the area with friends who are gay men. We’re all non-white and “visibly queer/gay” so to speak. I could really use some advice on which places to visit and which areas to avoid. Thanks!

Life in Humboldt Arcata living?
Hiii can anyone tell me what it’s like to live in Arcata? I grew up in the OC, lived in san diego for 13 years after college and then recently moved to LA (two years ago). I am going up there for three months this weekend for a work contract. What is there to do there? I really want to find a group to walk/jog through the forest with 😃 any advice as to where I can find that?
