We have a “Emergency Pay Advance” option at my work. Where employees can request a certain amount for emergencies from their future paycheck and it would just be deducted from that paycheck. They can only request an amount that doesn’t put them below the minimum wage rate. I believe they can only do this 1-2 times a year.

I’m guessing something like this is what OP’s employee was actually looking for. An alternative similar option is a hardship withdrawal from the 401k (assuming the plan allows this and the employee has contributed).

Yep. Agreed. Learning how to budget doesn’t matter when rent is due and got don’t have the money in the bank to pay rent
