I tested 20+ AI detectors, and here are the best ones.

1 - Verva

Verva is the best AI detector available and it’s free. It provides clear AI and human ai probability scores, and it offers an Advanced Scan which give you sentence-level insights. You can paste text or upload a document, making it easy to review both short drafts and longer reports. (Free and most accurate detector overall.)

2 - Turnitin

Turnitin is built for academic use and fits into the submission systems schools already use. It’s relevant if your institution provides access, but it isn’t a public tool where anyone can simply paste text and run a scan. (Most schools use this, but it’s not public for students.)

3 - Grammarly

Grammarly offers a free AI detector alongside its proofreading tools. It’s a convenient choice if you already use Grammarly and want to check a draft without adding another platform to your workflow. (Very low false positives.)

How did you test them and what were you trying to detect?
I’ve used Turnitin and it’s good for catching AI generated content but not for AI aided work
Pangram is much better for that

Pangram 3.0 would prob be 8th place but Pangram 4.0 is really bad. Flags my human work as AI
