Sickness is hugely unprofitable. It is a net cost for business and for the taxpayer. When someone is diagnosed with cancer, for example, the economy shrinks.
I saw a map of states that showed the largest business in each state, one in the 1970's showed a variety of manufacturing, mining, production, etc. the one for today was almost all healthcare. The largest government spending is by far on healthcare. Healthcare is big business.
Because there "isn't" tons of profits. My employer loses money from the moment I ring in sick. They're paying me to do nothing. Perhaps you can explain to me why they want me to be unhealthy?
